Gay male (47) looking for roommate/room Sept 1

Hi I'm looking for room or roommate in lower Manhattan starting Sept 1. VERY clean and organized here. Laid back, quiet and I don't party. Vegetarian and very into fitness/wellness. Budget is flexible, $3500-4k. I don't have any pets, but I love animals and would be happy to live with a cat or dog. Ideally looking for something with in-unit W/D, dishwasher, private bathroom and an elevator on a quiet block. I have great credit and reliable income. I like to travel, and with NYC prices being what they are it makes more sense to have a slightly bigger place with roommate than my own tiny place that will be sitting empty sometimes. Have lived in NYC for 25 years, I am respectful, kind and easy to get along with.

Young Dick/Don in The Mountain King

With each rewatch I’m always so amazed by how convincingly Hamm plays a younger version of this character. His mannerisms are notably different, we see a lot more teeth when he talks and smiles, the tone of his voice is different and the writers did an excellent job writing these scenes. And I imagine there was some really good directing going on too.

I’m sort of surprised they didn’t do more with his hairline, but I do think the makeup succeeds in making him look younger.

What stands out to you in these scenes?

Poll: Last chance to vote on whether you would contribute photos and/or postage funds to a postcard campaign to flood mayors office with images of bike lane obstructions

In case you missed it before, I'm running a poll to gauge interest on whether people would participate in a grassroots campaign to get mayors office to address bike lane obstructions by way of flooding the office with postcards with photos like these.

If these photos are triggering for you, please vote!

Anyone with Hustlaball experience?

I have never been to Hustlaball but for some reason was compelled to get a ticket this year, without really knowing much about it. Can anyone offer tips for the experience and/or explain what it ultimately is?

Would you contribute to a grassroots campaign to demand the Mayor take action against vehicles in bike lanes?

Hi friends, I’m curious how many of you would be willing to participate in a campaign to flood the Mayors office with photos of vehicles blocking bike lanes in the form of postcards.

In short, if you see an offender, you take a photo and email it to a gmail address and then the rest of the process is automated and managed by me and anyone else who may want to help with some backend stuff (for example filtering photos to make sure they are legit).

I believe in Mamdani, and I think his office would respond to a campaign like this if it’s done right and if enough people are willing to participate. If we sent 1000 postcards a month for 3 months, the cost would be around $2300 in postage/handling for a mail service like Lob.

This could also be a good way to show the mayor we are willing to contribute to enforcement, perhaps via the same program where the city has used residents to report idling trucks. At the very least, we could put more pressure on existing parking enforcement to crack down on this issue.

Does anybody have Gunnison tips?

Am planning a Gunnison visit next week and I haven't been in a while. I heard some rumors last year about really strict enforcement, including tents being banned and even people getting tickets for having an erection?

I have also heard that enforcement stops at 5p which is when things get a bit more frisky. Can anyone with more experience confirm any of this and/or offer any tips to make the experience more enjoyable?

Favorite scene from season 1

The scene where Betty finally gets the strength to open the phone bill is just so brilliant that I feel it needs to be called out. The storm and wind in the background, Jones’ presence as she methodically handles the envelope, the way she turns the cards from horizontal to vertical as she moves to the call list section the bill, and then the sound of the rotary dial before we actually see the next shot…it’s just so perfect!

I’m not a classic film buff but the low positioned camera panning left past banisters to reveal Betty on the floor feels reminiscent of a style I’ve seen in the past - maybe Hitchcock?

My heart breaks when she realizes who she’s called…this moment is the beginning of the slow unraveling of their marriage, not to mention Betty’s confidence.

It’s a master class in television

Joan and Paul lack of chemistry

Does anyone else feel that the attraction between these two never quite landed for you as a viewer? I just don’t see former lover chemistry at all.

I do think they make good frenemies though.

Vincent Kartheiser wins best actor poll (Hamm was removed to make it more interesting)

I have to say, I’m surprised that an actor who plays such a deplorable character would win in a poll like this, since people tend to conflate their feelings between actor and character.

Congratulations Vincent!

Final best acting poll — with a twist

I believe that being forced to split the previous polls distorted the numbers, so here is a single poll of the finalists, but with Jon Hamm excluded. Sorry Jon, you were just too good to make this a fair fight.

"I work in a closet"

Let's celebrate Pride with some subtle humor: Lois saying to Sal that she works in a closet all day.

I love all the misdirected attraction in this scene.

Need feedback: what’s the ultimate urinal design for a gay bathhouse?

Hey friends I’m designing a gay/bi bathhouse in the US and finding this board has been so much fun! I def want the urinals to be a destination, bc it’s such an opportunity for clever design AND I want to encourage people to use the urinals instead of only pissing in the showers.

I have mainly been looking into older style circular urinals (I remember one at a sports arena when growing up that was so hot) and troughs, though I don’t think it’s going to be easy to find a curricular urinal these days. I saw the mirror urinal from Germany, which is amazing. I question the functionality of it (splashback) but maybe that’s ok?

I’m curious, what would make for a great (or by contrast, horrible) gay sauna urinal in your opinion? Pics are also welcome. I should also add that I’m on a budget so not trying to get too outlandish with the design.

Thanks !

oddly specific TNG question

Update: mystery solved! Glad to know I can still trust my memory. This occurs in the first few minutes of The Host (S04E23). Thanks to @HatterJack for figuring this one out.

I grew up watching TNG (I even had a cardboard cutout of Data in my bedroom lol), and for some reason I have always remembered this scene where Data points out to someone that rushing/running is not actually going to have any meaningful impact arriving any faster. I know I didn't imagine this, but in all of my MANY rewatches I've never come across that scene again. Was it a TNG-era movie maybe? Can anyone help?

Older Interview search

Does anyone remember an old interview where Tori talks about her creative process and describes her editing of material as "ruthless" and maybe even analogy similar to cutting out the not-right stuff with scissors. There was also some mention of "if it's not right -goodbye". Would love to find the rest of that interview bc I remember it being so good.
