I've been experimenting and trying new genres of games.
The three games I rotated between before were World of Warcraft classic and the sims 2/4 and Project Zomboid. This year I decided to experiment a lot and this is what I tried so far.
Elden Ring [Soulsike]: I loved it! I have 180 hours in it so far and I can't recommend it enough. It was my first time playing a Souls/Soulslike game and It was a bit of a learning curve initially but It's so rewarding and fun.
Silent Hill f [Horror]: I LOVE the story, I hate the combat. I would absolutely recommend it for the story alone though, to me It's an amazing piece of feminist horror buuut It is horror and I don't like horror games. They sadly work on me and scare me too much. I still put up with the fear and the annoying combat just for the story.
Dispatch [Strategy]: Very fun game, cool concept, EXCELLENT voice acting with Aaron Paul and Laura Bailey and the side characters are so fun. Buut the main characters feel underdevelopped and flat. Still worth playing imo.
The Last Of Us Part II [Cinematic]: I cannot put into words how much I loved this game. Obviously play the first one if you haven't but this game quickly became my favourite game of all time. I would give anything to be able to forget the game and play it again for the first time.
Stardew Valley [Farming Sim]: I never really got into farming simulators but this one is very special <3 I loved it a lot so far It's so addictive.
Bayonetta [hack n slash]: So fun! I love how flamboyant Bayonetta is!
Games I wanna try in the future:
Hollow Knight [Soulslike/2D platformer] : I loved Elden Ring, and this is a Soulslike and also a 2D platformer. I've never played a 2D platformer.
I love this game but I hate the Together Cards.
I'm really liking a lot of what Paralives is doing so far. I bought the game on release day and already have around 50 hours in it. I'm having a lot of fun and I'm very excited for the future of the game, but I have mixed feelings about Live Mode.
The personality system feels surprisingly impactful even with a limited number of traits. I love that personalities actually seem to influence wants and needs because it gives Paras more depth.
The career system is also great. There's a lot of variety right away, and I like that staying in the same company or industry gives you bonuses when applying for new positions. It makes careers feel like actual long-term progression instead of just climbing a ladder.
My biggest issue right now is Live Mode, specifically the Together Cards.
I don't mind interactions having a chance to fail. In fact, I think that's a good thing. What I don't like is how limited my choices feel. It's weird that the game gives us so much freedom in Build Mode and Paramaker, but then restricts us during what should be the core gameplay experience. Paralives has clearly been designed around player freedom, but Live Mode feels like the one area where that philosophy isn't fully reflected.
The issue isn't even the Together Cards themselves, but how they're implemented. Having to wait for the conversation bar to fill up just to get 3 options like "flirt," "say this conversation is boring," or "complain about hunger" isn't very engaging to me. I want more control over how my Para interacts with people and expresses their personality.
I'd rather see Together Cards expand our options instead of limiting them. Maybe they could unlock interaction categories like Friendly, Romantic, Humorous, Conflict, or Deep Discussion, with the actual choices being influenced by personality traits, moods, relationships, and recent events. A shy Para shouldn't talk the same way as a confident one.
I'd also be fine with Together Cards being reserved for bigger moments while basic social interactions are always available. That way conversations feel more natural while the cards still have an important role in relationships and character development.
The personalities, careers, and customization systems all seem built around player freedom, but Live Mode currently feels much more restrictive.
I know the game is in Early Access, but this feels like the kind of feedback that's worth discussing now while these systems are still evolving.

Are there mods to make the game harder in co-op?
My friend and I are gonna start playing coop. ER is my first souls game and I have 140 hours played. He has never played a souls game before. I feel like playing as 2 makes the game too faceroll and I want him to have the challenging experience of a souls game. Is there a mod that makes the game harder without changing boss mechanics?
What are these papers taped to the door?
Whenever I get close to the door, they suddenly self-combust. I was wondering whether these are based on Japanese folklore, maybe some kind of protective wards or talismans? If that’s the case, the symbolism is really interesting: when Hinako approaches the door, the protective wards literally burst into flames on their own.
