A 22-year-old woman was arrested in Bhilwara Wednesday for allegedly recording and circulating an obscene video of herself to frame and blackmail her husband.
The case surfaced after a video showing the woman bathing was circulated through a fake social media account in the last week of March.
The husband then filed a complaint at Gandhinagar police station, after which police registered a case.
In his complaint, the husband alleged the video was deliberately made and circulated by his wife in collusion with her former lover to falsely implicate him and create grounds to separate from him.
He said it was made to appear as though he had leaked the video and that he was threatened when he objected.
Police said the video was posted online on March 20 using a fake account created with a SIM card allegedly arranged by the woman's associate.
Police said their cyber team traced the fake account's origin and found links to the woman and her associate. She was taken into custody and is being interrogated.
During interrogation the woman initially accused her husband of making the video.
The alleged lover, summoned for questioning, told police the woman had tried to involve him in the conspiracy.
