Are my kuhlis happy?

Recently they started acting like this. They will swim in the open water all day, and night as well. Silver vetsions are still shy, but these got even more active as I add more of them. Now just 6 kuhlis in the 150gal tank.

Are they stressed?

Are they feeling secure and happily enjoying the tank?

The worst support experience, ever!

I have verified myself 5 times today, and before they would check what's wrong, the chat would be closed, nullified, and I had to go over it again and again and again ....

No one even cared to come back with an answer to my problem ... not a single case. Just closing the chat because "I was not active", haha.

Now, if anyone knows how to get the SMS message to verify/confirm the nameserver changes, let me know. I would really appreciate any help. It was working for 3 domains, then maybe GoDaddy decided I should not transfer the nameserver and doesn't send the SMS any more? WTF is going on?

Any book recommendations for shallow tank aquascaping?

Anything about river biotope setup, practices, etc would also be helpful.

Thanks in advance

External filters for biological filtration only?

Recently started following this guy on Insta with helpful info on fishtank keeping and quite frequently he has those unpopular opinions. Decided to do some fact checking with experts in this community.

The idea is that the external filters are for the biological filtration only. It's not intended to do mechanical filtration.

The idea behind is that it works well if you don't open it for a long period of time. If you add materials such as polyester batting to collect fine particals, then it would get clogged quite fast and you would need to open and clean the filter - which hurts the filtration and stability of the aquarium.

He also expresses very strong opinion against using the polyester batting in extrrnal filters and suggest to use that for a couple of hours only to do the mechanical filtration and get water clean, then remove it - otherwised the fixed particles would either clog it too much as well as start leaching ammonia and not only to the water column which is not much wanted.

What do you think? Is this another FatherFish opinion we should avoid?

What's true and what's a clickbait/hook?

SOS. I continue loosing fish.

Some time ago I had a problem with Apisto Nijjseni. It had a huge bloating, holes on the head... eventually died. Since then I lost over 5 other fish as well. That includes another apisto, some smaller ones like red neon eyes.

I would notice the dead fish only when amanos would start grazing on it and moving around.

This is the only time I'm able to catch and take a photo. Bloating again.

The main change - heatwave. I added ventilation to keep the temp under control. It would still go up from the set 24C up to 28C.

Food changes - the least possible. Daphnia, or grindals could cause this? I give small amounts anyways.

I feed once a day only. Sometimes skip intentionally.

There are newly added fish... no quarantine... I just trust the store for now. New fish are ok. Older ones are affected. Are they getting old? They are in my aquarium less than 10 months.

Where do you guys buy enzymes for shrimps?

What brands or companies to try? Which types are actually helping? Which can be fed to moina and daphnia cultures? Can it be given to fish? And maybe it's a scam?

Two amanos got black. Should I worry?

The rest of the shrimp look the same as before. Only those two are affected.

What is blackwater?

Recently wateched a video on YT by FatherFish and he was telling that blackwater and tannin water is not the same.

Is making black tea and adding to aquarium making it blackwater? I saw people doing that a lot too... curious if they achieved blackwater or they had a different intention and aim.

I'm new to this and would love to hear different opinions on what blackwater is?

Amanos love mulberry leaves - confirmed.

Eventually tried adding blanched mulberry leaves to the aquarium.

No reaction from snails, pleco, otos... Amanos graze on it for the last 30 hours and almost done with that huuge leaf.

It's taken feom my garden. I never spray pesticied on that black mulberry tree. I felt safe with adding as a food. Leaf was like 20x30cm big!

Can I cut back stem plants?

Well... before knowing about Walstad, guides and rules, I had a small experiment where I had a glass jar, several guppies and a stem plant. I didn't touch it. Over time the fast growing plant took over the whole jar. No more place for the poor fish to swim.

Eventually I reset the whole setup to rescue the fish.

Now... if Walstad is aboit not touching and letting it be... what do we do if the floating plants take over the surface area? What about the long stam plants?

If we cut back or remove some plants... isn't it considered an intervention and basically making it imbalanced, not Walstad method tank?
