Das course in the heat, any tips for me?

Afternoon everyone

I finally start my DAS course tomorrow for 4 days. The weather is looking like 31 everyday.

I have a mesh jacket and summer gloves.

Has anyone got any tips for me on how to stay cool or what to do if I get light headed or something. I feel like it's going to impair my learning and test with the heat.

Thanks in advance. Test day is Thursday eeek

UK help.

Everything I put in this machine just never goes right lol if I want to use Fanta I have to add so much sugar to make it slush it's simply too sweet to enjoy!

I genuinely thought I could just buy this and just pour stuff in but it's a faff everytime.

Id like a milkshake what's available in the UK that I can just buy and pour in?

Mod2 weird concern about being asked to pull over.

So I'm on a 125. Das course is literally not this week but the week after.

My test centre is Gillingham in Medway.

I've been looking at practice test routes and riding them. I'm struggling to see where they're going to ask me to stop, it's literally like fast 50 roads you cant stop on or it's really busy and I mean really busy side roads where the only place cars aren't parked are because it's a drop curb! And it's so tight you could be like ah gap mirrors signal LS then when close enough go ah no that's a driveway but you'd be basically stopped because it's too late by the time you see it.

I know this is a stupid thing to worry about but valid none the less 🤣.

I wish I knew someone who done it here recently

My 125 experience for anyone wondering if they should start there

Good morning all

I just thought I would share some of my experiences from starting on a 125cc.

Most of my friends ride a motorbike and every single one of them told me not to start and a 125 and simply go straight for a direct access course

Knowing myself I have a lot of questions and I like to prepare for everything I do so I ignored their advice. Well I took it on board but I still decided to get a 125 and let me tell you it has been fantastic for my confidence. I'm starting my direct access course in 2 weeks and I'm looking forward to it. Rather than being anxious and nervous. This is because riding the 125 not only answered my questions but it also brought up questions I would have never thought of which led me to this forum where loads of people have helped me and gave me advice on how to do certain things. So not only have I learnt how to do all the slow manoeuvres, I've learnt multiple ways to do it and can do it multiple ways. So when I get on the direct access bike I'll be able to figure out what's best for that bike as I already have that knowledge in my head

One of the other things I noticed as a learner was this week where it's been a heatwave and I haven't got on the bike. My confidences dropped but I know as soon as I get on tonight when it's a bit cooler or at the weekend it will come back. It's nice knowing but I can boost my confidence just by going out for a ride

I think the 125 is great to learn. Roadcraft and how other cars will react to you. I've been driving for over 20 years and I assumed all of that road knowledge would carry over to a bike but it doesn't. Other road users do react differently to you and they expect you to do different things simply because you are on a motorbike

Some of the things I found are that people give me less space because obviously I need less space. However, it has been annoying as a learner having cars sit right up my backside or expecting me to speed everywhere simply because I'm on two wheels.

Overall I would say if you have the funds then getting a 125 is not a bad idea at all. The way I did it was a CBT first and I'd already bought a 125. So as soon as I got home that day I went out and I booked a das course straight away but for 2 months down the line. We are now two weeks away from that date so I've had 6 weeks on a motorbike so far. And I've covered 1,000 MI.

To summarise myself. I am 38 years old. I am a classic overthinker with low self-esteem and a fair bit of anxiety. If you are anything like me get that 125!

Peace all

Mod 1 question

Evening all.

Did some slow stuff today on a mt09.

You can do everything without throttle is that normal. Like when I get on the er6n for my das are you supposed to use throttle or if the bikes powerful enough just clutch and rear brake?

Battery powered cheap alarm

Just thought I'd share this incase someone wants one.

Got it from Screwfix for less than 15 quid!

You simply put 4 AA batteries in, it'll beep, you then enter a 4 digit code you want and that's that set!

Everytime you leave the room you press 4 and then you've got 30 secs to vacate. I've tested this and as soon as I walk in it beeps so I know I've been seen then it gives you some time to enter the code or it blasts off. It's VERY loud! Surprised me for the price.

Bikes also chained with a 12mm monster chain and ground anchor in concrete and a litelock X3 on the front

Junctions with parked cars at the end.

Noted during my riding this evening I keep coming up to areas where dickheds have parked on the curb right before the junction like 5m away. Do I just mirror them signal left. Lifesaver right to go around the car then Lifesaver left?

Motorbike muscles? Am I tripping balls

Morning all

Newish rider. Always worked out I'm 5ft 6 and 158lbs of muscle. Very lean.

I've noticed since getting back on a bike different muscles getting bigger. It's like shoulders, back, forearms, calves and glutes.

Don't know if I'm tripping out lol. I've not been working out as much due to spending every spare second riding lol 😂 but my body shape has changed a bit in a nice way. Is this bike related? Basically asking if anyone else has noted similar

Slowing for a junction am I being simple lol

I'm on L plates 125cc. I've quicky figured out there 2 ways to ride when it comes to every aspect of riding.

Things you'd do for your test and things you wouldn't lol.

Now slowing. I thought I was the nuts at this as I'm rev matching on downshifts smooth like butter. So I'm kinda seeing the stop and then slowing with engine braking which seems way better and faster than a car!

One of my friends told me during the mod2 they will want to see me use my brakes more! Quick Google yeah that seems pretty legit as they want you to warn traffic behind you are Slowing! Cool.

So I've tried this today and basically I end up slowing way too much because I'm very lightly pressing the front and rear. Like just enough to trigger the light and going down the gears. If I leave it any later it genuinely looks like I'm approaching the junction too fast!

Kinda lost with what I should be doing for the test. So I just coast and use brakes and bang down the gears all at once

Happy Sunday everyone.
