My boyfriend of almost 1 year broke up with me a few hours ago. We’re both teenagers pa (15+), and we don’t really blame anyone for the breakup since we’re still young. I know it sounds stup!d or OA to some people because most people see teenage love as “cringe” or “unserious,” pero gosh, sobrang sakit talaga😭
This isn’t my first relationship, but this is the healthiest relationship I’ve ever been in. We’ve never had a serious fight before, which we honestly considered impressive, especially since we’re already 11 months together and turning 1 year next month. Most people saw our relationship as just “puppy love,” but we were genuinely committed to each other. We were serious. We really saw a future together despite being too young for those kinds of plans. We even talked about what we’d do after graduating college even though we’re still years away from that. We were really looking forward to it.

He told me that he felt like he was holding on to something that was already failing, and that when he looked at me, I wasn’t the same girl he fell in love with anymore.
I thought back to my recent actions, and yes, I’m very aware that I’ve changed a lot this summer. But it was mainly because I didn’t like who I was before. Some parts of me were too loud. I expressed so much of what I loved- the simple things, like my favorite band, favorite food, favorite songs, and everything else. I loved talking about those things, but I felt like I was being too much and annoying people, so I minimized it.
Then there’s me coming out as bisexual. My family isn’t exactly LGBT-friendly, so I’ve always been kind of closeted. But lately, I’ve been more open about it, and I never thought it would be an issue for him because he has LGBT friends and family members too.
And that’s not everything that changed. There was more to it- something deeper. But it wasn’t a bad change naman eh😢 I would know if it was bad because the people around me are honest, they give constructive feedback instead of just agreeing with everything I do, and if it was bad they would've pointed it out to help me improve. I was just growing up. I guess I was becoming a little more emotionally mature too, slowly figuring myself out and becoming more comfortable with who I am.
This summer, I found myself, and honestly, I’ve never been happier because of it. But I didn’t know it would come with a cost like this. I honestly don’t know how to feel. Should I regret that I’ve grown? Or should I be thankful because maybe this filters out the people in my life who truly accept me for who I am and those who don’t? 😞
Ang unfair lang din kasi he’s changed too, and I’ve never had an issue with it. But when it comes to me, suddenly it’s a problem? I genuinely thought he was someone who loved me for who I am. But now that I’ve finally found myself- the person I really am- suddenly he can’t be with me anymore?
