Vote For What Goes In My Car CD Player Next!

I’ve had Decoration Day in my CD player in my car for about 2 weeks, for obvious reasons if you’re a fan. (I was roughly 1200 miles from Shoals Fest so I participated as best I could by remote)

So I’m taking votes! Which DBT album goes in the single disc CD player next, Dirty South or Big To-Do? They’re nearly equal favorites of mine. (If it matters, the vehicle in question is a 10 year old Jeep Wrangler, and I do most of my CD listening after dark when my favorite FM (college) stations are playing “specialty” shows that are a little hit or miss for me)

Also yes, some of you may notice these are brand new sealed CDs. I divorced a long while back and lost roughly 1000 CDs in the transaction (I prioritized keeping my guitars and my amps & pedals over the CD collection during an ACRIMONIOUS split up), so this is a large and recent step in rebuilding a crucial part of my collection. Because I can hear every note and every breath and pick scratch on these in my head, they were put towards the end of the list on reclaiming them into my reborn collection. As was Decoration Day, but obviously that got priority just because of the timing of when they all showed up in the mail.

Nevertheless, I am DYING to hear both these albums equally so cast your votes for which one comes first dispassionately! Whichever one you love the most or whatever you feel would meet my needs the best. Thx to all who weigh in

Jammin In NY

All I can say. Re-watching for the first time in a long time. Is MY GOD. Between politics and culture. This world NEEDS another George Carlin… but I don’t think there’s another one on the rise

VUG/VTV Allocation?

For my relatively new taxable brokerage account, in lieu of buying a S&P500 fund such as VOO or FXIAX, I opted to start off by buying a 50-50 blend of VUG (Vanguard large cap growth) and VTV (Vanguard large cap value), on the logic that I could eventually tweak the mix to favor one or the other.

At roughly the 6 month mark, now that I’ve got a good 50/50 position established, anybody have any thoughts on reallocating future buying to a 55-45 mix (or even 60-40) tilted towards one or the other?

So last night I posted about buying the Monday dip, along with a pic of a last minute item I tossed into my purchase: I saw that the shop had a couple of 1oz Geiger square bars, which I’ve always thought were good looking but I’ve heard they carried a high premium. What the heck, you only live once, etc etc. I asked the employee to take it out of the case and asked for a price.

I heard her approach another employee to ask about pricing it, and being involved in another transaction he told her to “ring it up as a generic 1oz”. (My ears pricked up a little at this, because I figured I was saving idk $10-12 bucks of premium.)

Eighty bucks. EIGHTY (80) AMERICAN DOLLARS for a Geiger ounce. Obviously, having posted about it last night, people had some questions, and the level of interest finally made me look up pricing on this specific silver piece.

WHOA. Not life changing money in absolute terms, but this bar should have by rights been priced at $120-$150 depending on which eBay auction you look at, so I got an accidental 30 to 45 percent discount.

In principle I feel bad for the shop (and for the employees who are probably eating a mile of shit over this one); but the shop clearly states in capital letters that ALL SALES ARE FINAL right on the receipt they handed me, so my hands are tied here 😂

Because I did, online AND then at the LCS. I was TRYING to be a disciplined investor and buy close to spot, buy generic, salable, recognizable rounds…

And then the collector personality in me saw the Geiger bars and decided we deserved a treat 😂 my first one
