reddit.com"Crooked" pinkie after cycling
(F45 here) - Hello, one week ago, after a quite long bicycle ride, i came back home with total weakness in my left hand. I understand it was due to the pressure i put on my wrist / nerves while riding on the dropbars.
At first, i couldn’t even pinch my thumb with any other finger, but after 2 days my thumb started functioning normally again, and i regained most of my strength.
But my pinkie (ulnar nerve i assume) is still living its own life... 🤦🏻♀️ I have zero pain nor numbness but i struggle with basic tasks like washing my face or holding things. I sometimes use a loose bandage to strap it with the finger ring so it's less annoying...
📷 Photo of my open palm showing the maximum i can bring my fingers together. The pinkie just won’t move any closer! No problem when closing my fist tho.
Should i see a doc or just give it more time? If i should see someone, which specialist would be the most appropriate? I don’t live in the US or Europe, so going to a general practitioner or the hospital would most likely be a waste of time, money, and energy here (trust me they are useless!). If i need to consult someone, i’d rather go directly to a specialist. Or could a chiropractor help?
Thanks 🙏

Alternatives for accessible storage without wearing a jersey?
Hello, addicted beginner here, doing ~30 km/d under tropical weather with high UVs (Giant Revolt 2 but 90% on road)
I ride with padded tights but on top just my sports bra and a light windbreaker in neon yellow for road safety and long sleeves for sun protection. I do not wear a jersey because that additional layer is unnecessary in my situation. But no jersey = no back pockets… 🤦🏻♀️
I have a small storage under the saddle for my keys, repair kit and emergency gel. But I would like to have, within hand reach distance, storage for some dried fruit, phone, sunglasses when not in use (i wear my regular RayBan but they do not hold on the helmet like everyone does with those trendy sunglasses)
We are extremely limited in equipment in my country so i try to find something on Temu but cannot find anything adapted, lightweight etc. The best i found is a mesh fanny pack...
Any other suggestion on how to handle this?
Thanks 🙏
Vos avis...?! 🙏

I told a smelly dude that he stinks 😕
Hello, i just had a flashback and feel awful now... 😢 Saturday night, at some point i moved closer to the DJ, and it smelled bad. i checked my underarms, not me... I sniffed around and ended up next to the source! I was in this very chatty mood without filters, so i told the guy that he stank and offered him a wet wipe, which he declined. I think he was pissed, which i can understand... Honestly, how bad was this, and how out of line was i? 😭 At least, i got a life lesson from this, and hopefully this dude too... 🫣 Still, i feel terrible now 😞 Anything similar happened to you? 🙏
Do cleats really make a difference? 👞👞
Hello, im a beginner and still learning on my Gravel (Giant Revolt 2). I currently ride with flat pedals and wonder if switching to cleats really improve the experience?
I do ~30km every morning, on road mix of flat and hills (i only go gravel when with friends for safety reasons). I bike for enjoyment, and looooove it, not looking for specific performance (even if i check my stats after each ride... 😬). I'm currently fine with the flats, just wondering how much it can really make it difference 🙏
Hello, i'm new to cycling (got a gravel with dropbar) and after a 50km ride this morning i developed thumb weakness. At first i was surprised that i could not use the front shifter with my left hand but then i couldn't grab anything when i got back home. About 12 hours later now, i still can’t pinch normally my thumb and index fingers together, but i can make a fist normally. I’ve lost grip strength, but there’s no pain or numbness. Left only, right fully normal.
Is that something "normal" and common for beginners? I assume i did something wrong, but what...? Im 45F for reference (and quite sporty) 😁
Thanks 🙏
Hello, im 45F quite active, always been sporty and new to cycling - after moving from a house with garden to an apartment, i needed to be more outside! Also i work from home 🤯
I just bought my first bike a Gravel (Giant Revolt 2) and rode 150km within 10 days. I enjoy my early morning rides soooooo much and even want to go in the afternoon but ChatGPT (... 🤷🏻♀️) keep saying that i should not ride that much... It suggests maximum 20/30km, 3 times a week without pushing. I don't feel exhausted and i cruise at 20kmh in zone 2, avg bpm 125. Should i listen to gpt or would you suggest that i just listen to myself and go whenever i want, as i want...? 😅 I don't plan to go for any kind of competition or whatever lol im just trying to improve my efficiency, muscle power, cardio and mostly keep enjoying doing it 😊
Any suggestion or advice is most welcome 🙏
