The environement of our paint-like game - Sanctia

I'm the lead of a small team of 6 working on an open-world immersive sim called Sanctia. We are working in our own engine with the goal of re-creating a paint-like aesthetic inspired by impressionism.

If you have any feedback to give, please let us know! And if you want to see more of our work, we also have a bunch of socials like instagram, bluesky and a youtube channel (that need to be updated a bit).

As a disclamer, we are not using AI for anything on this project.

Zero to Corpo : Buying a 890J without completing a single mission

The story of why ?

Since the last wipe, I gave myself the objective to do a "zero to hero" in Pyro as a merc. I began my journey experimenting around pyro all the content I could find. I almost never went to pyro before, and it became my house very quickly. One day, while doing a maintenance, I found some nice peice of armor and a knife I've never seen before. After asking some friend, I registered on UEX for the first time and began to see what the player economy was like.

The first steps were kinda hard, mainly because the economy was still recovering from years of dupe, exploits and hackers buying things at ridiculous price. Once I settled, I began to sell my first pieces of equipement. It wasn't much, but I was shocked that I could just run around POIs and pass accross many pieces of armor or weapons that could be sold for hours worth of grind.

When I had a footing in the space, I bought my first ships, a meteor for flight scenarios and an intrepid for looting. In about a week of doing both, I realized that the looting done in the intrepid quickly outpace intensive flight scenario grind, even after taking into acount mg scrip selling. In about a week I had enough money to buy my third and forth ship : a perseus to enjoy multi-crew dog-fight and a guardian just for the fun of having one. Yeah, "for the fun of having one", because money wasn't a real issue and I also bought maybe millions worth of armor on UEX.

I always tought that my big combat oriented ships would finance my other activies, like buying cool looking ships that aren't meta or anything. That's why meteor and percy were my first purchase. Buuuut, the exact opposite happenend. The intrepid was just priting me money like I've never experienced in my ~1 year or so in this game. And I just used the intrepid because I like the interior and the camping-car vibe of it. Anything that has internal storage or can carry at least one store-all can do the trick. I kept doing flight scenario, but it was just for the fun of it. Sometimes I did sells with my friends and gave them almost all the benefices. I think I gave more to my friends than what gilly's has earned me in the past week or two.

So, I began to search for the perfect ship to buy to introduce my fiends to looting & selling. Because looting runs with servral people in an intrepid can be combersome. First, I wanted to buy a Starlancer TAC : good quarters, place for one snub or two and storage. But it was the week end and I spent all of my in-game time doing trades. By the time I had the time to go buy the TAC, I had enough to buy the Carrack : TAC, but bigger and with a better view.

I was determined, I was going to buy a Carrack, it was already one of the most expensive ship in the game... But, it lacked something. Class. Elegance. True display of wealth. Deep inside me I had became a bisness-man.

I realized I didn't complete any missions in a very long time, and almost 100% of my current fortune was made from trades. That's when I had the goal complete the way to the 890J with only player to player trade. This way, my whole ship would have been bought without completing a single mission. I Liked the idea of buying the most expensive thing in-game with only systemic gameplay and no scripted quest bs.

Just after having this tought, I contacted a buyer that wanted bulk offer for some big corps. The final contract I managed to get was around 35M. A lot of things were sold that day. I purchased my 890J, with servral other ships, alongside something like 20M worth of armor on UEX.

Zero to Hero ? Nah, I've failed at that. What I trully acheived was Zero to Corpo.

How to pull it off ?

With nothing but a starter ship, a google doc and some dedication you can run around servral POIs like outpost, villages, ruins etc... The key is to have two things : a very long playlist of youtube videos or album you want to listen to AND to never give up hope. 95% of the time you will find absolutly nothing and just discard a place as worthless. Like, if you find nothing while actively looking for loot, it's bad, right ? But 5% of the time, BAM, one vera 2 and one HG-3 scope in a box. Search the price and realize you have millions of uec in your hands.

I personally mapped my favorite places, and found the optimal way of going to them, looking around all the goods spots, either going to another place or bed-unlogging and repeat. It IS repetitive at time, but what's trully good is that YOU chose what place you go. Some of them are pvp heavy, some of them have dozen of hostile NPC respawning all the time, some of them are chill. You chose your level of risk-reward, you do your mapping, you do your runs, you do your listing, you make your deals and the cherry on top : you meet a lot of amazingly nice people along the way.

Conclusion : What I've learned ?

I've come to appreciate the fact that any level of difficulty or odds pale in the face of truly being the one behind the wheel. Do I still love to do bounties in my perseus, with the epicness of my friends giving me target instruction ? Of course, but I love it because I love my friends and CIG made an awesome space pew-pew-ing experience, not because of any quest scenario or fake sens of importance the game is trying to sell me.

If you have read this far, well thank you. I hope my story was untertaining enough while you were waiting for your bus or this damn game to finally finish loading.

Cheers, I'll be looking around to see y'all in the verse. Just know that if you ever happend to see a 890J with some goobers roleplaying inside, there ISN'T AT ALL millions and millions worth of weapons attachements and armor inside it.

Some questions regarding the 890J

Context (feel free to skip)

This patch I'm a collector in Pyro. With some of my friends I do regular runs accros the system to get weapon attachements & rare variants of weapons and armor. I do up to 5-6 sells a day ranging from 500k to 4M. This week-end alone I made 20M.

With this money, in 3 weeks I arleady bought fully upgraded Perseus, Guardian, Meteor with 30M left in bank and I also have a bugged M80 from the event that is in my inventory for free. Point is, I don't care about meta anymore because I have all the meta-esque ship.

I always tought that big fight-oriented ships will finance my other rp/exploration oriented ships, but I was wrong. I got my Perseus in like 1 week and half with only an intrepid. For me, even farming flight scenarios in my meteor or perseus is printing LESS money per hour than running accross settelements in pyro, yeah it's THAT profitable. So it's the other way around for me, my chill, rp oriented exploration ships are founding my big meta ships that I use occasionally for fun and pew-pew with friends. So, both meta and money are not a problem for me.

For my loot run with my friens I realized that I need a ship with medbays (ursa is cool and all but it's yet another vehicule to load and it takes a lot of place, while being ugly imo), potentially good defenses in case of pirates (tought I never encoutered any), places for potential ground vehicule and light ship and a FAST quantum (Between the runs & the deliveries to other players, I can do dozen of 60-ish Gm quantums everyday). Also, for both my friends and I, we want good living quarters because we have regular visitors for sells and just love the role-playing aspect.

My actual questions

With this context done, I want to buy the 890J because money is priting itself currently and this ship seems to cross litterally everything on my list 10 fold compared to other ships. BUT I can't find some informations about it's state in 4.8 like :

- Does it use a large or extra large hangar ?

- If it use extra large, does checkmate (my homebase) have one ?

- Does the docking even work on this ship ? Percy was a nightmare to handle in that regard.

- Is the bug regarding ship in the hangar disapearing trully fixed ? I've heard rumors but not actual confirmations from people owing the ship.

- The quantum seems fast but the wiki says that the cooldown time is something like 32s wich is enormous, is it that bad in-game ?

- Lastly, for the people who use it, what's your honest opinion about it ?
