I’m new to this, can someone tell me if it’s supposed to look like that? Or smaller? Haven’t fed him in 6+ hours, so to prevent sour crop. Been feeding small amounts of warm water with a tiny bit of apple cider vinegar intermittently when he’s supposed to eat.
I know how the crop works, and I’ve been told where it is, but I just don’t know if it’s the middle part or the two side parts. I have had no explicit clarification on where it actually is in relation to anything else other than “at the base of the neck”. I’m having troubles knowing if the crop is empty or not, because I don’t know where to look. I’ve been relying mostly on scheduled and regular checking, and advice from my mom who takes care of birds, but I want to be certain. I want to make sure I’m giving this little guy the best care before I send him back to my friend.
I’ve been tasked by a friend to take care of a little squab last Sunday because he’s unable to for a week due to a mandatory week long trip to Vancouver and the day he is leaving (June 30th) I have a 5 hour birthday party for a friend that was planned weeks before this came up. I’m blocking the rest of that week out to dedicated care for his bird.
I’m very excited to care for his little bird, but I’m worried that I’ll have to leave early so it doesn’t starve, which would be a problem because where I’ll be is an hour away from my place and I’m carpooling over—which means I’d have to drag someone else back with me to go home. I haven’t been able to find sources on what happens after 6 hours of not feeding. I currently have no one else who is available to cover for me on that day, and the owner reached out to me because he also has no one else to cover for me. PLEASE HELP.
I locked in for the Pride event and I set alarms every two hours and I just kept getting unlucky with my food bags AUGHHGWGGG
