Just saw the plumpest magpie I've ever seen!

Look at this chubby little fella. He's so round I thought he was a pigeon at first glance.

Medication for calming a cat for a train journey?

Hi all, I am currently sitting on a train, half an hour into a 2.5 hour journey with my cat. She is very not happy about the situation, and is shouting, scrabbling, and generally making her feelings known.

This was a very last-minute journey and I didn't have time to find a sitter, hence why she is with me. I feel so bad for her! 😩

I'm going to have to do this journey in reverse ina few days' time, and I'm absolutely dreading it. She is usually such a calm kitty, but she's so unhappy right now.

Has anyone used any medication like gabapentin to calm their cat before a journey? I can't bear the thought of putting her through all this again, and I'm worried she'll never trust me again.

Any other tips gratefully received, too.

What is this delicious Colombian treat I just had?

I bought this from my local Colombian bakery, where the label said it was a pandebono. It's delicious, and I wanted to try making some, but when I looked up pandebono/pan de bono recipes, they all seem more like pão de queijo.

This thing is fairly big, mostly hollow, and seems maybe deep-fried (it was pretty greasy). It also tasted a little sweet, although the inside definitely had a mild cheese flavour.

Can anyone tell me what this is? Is it a regional variation of a pandebono, or something else?

ITAW for fear of not being able to leave/escape?

I have this, and I'm trying to find a way to put it into words.

It's not claustrophobia - I can be okay in small places, as long as there is a way to exit. But I get very scared when I feel trapped among a large crowd, or in a place or situation where I can't easily leave.

Is this a known phobia? Is there a word for it?

While technically legal, promoting gambling is immoral and despicable

So many people's lives are ruined by gambling addiction, and using a sub for cute urban wildlife to promote gaming sites is gross imo.

I'm so disappointed to realise that mod kinder90 is doing just that, and may in fact have set up this sub purely to lure people in to then promote to them. Shame on you.

Just voted in my local election, first time since moving to a new borough. Just got in about 15 minutes before the polling station closed. Feels good to use my democratic rights!

Whoever wins the seats, I'll be glad I had my say and was involved in the process.

As in the title; this was among a list of other jobs such as poet and artist, with no further contwxt or explanation. I find the concept intriguing, and would like to know more about it.
