Ethical Dilemma - Changing The Clocks
My 5-year old wakes up between 6 - 7, but knows by the time on the clock and the colour of his nightlight that he has to stay in bed until 7. Normally during school and summer camp, this works fine. But next week I'm off work and oh my goshhhh we would love a bit of a sleep-in (I wake up early with him every day of the year except my birthday and Mother's Day). However, when I try and tell my son we're going to stay in bed until 7:30, he is ADAMANT that the clock says 7 and the light is green so it's time to get up. I could try and convince him that we're going to wake up at 7:30 instead but I fear I will lose that battle every day. How unethical would it be to change the clock in his room by 30 minutes so he thinks it's 7 while it's really 7:30? His bedtime varies so it wouldn't cause a problem in the evenings. Is this a harmless white lie? Would you do it?
