TORONTO - Looking for singer, drummer and guitarist to cover Birds by Turnstile (Hobby/Fun)

This is a bit of a long shot, but I just wanted to play this song on the bass with a band. I'm mostly a drummer but have been learning to play the bass and was practicing it a few months ago.

This is nothing super serious, the idea was to just book 1 or 2 hours at a studio like Lynx, split the cost of the room, and rehearse the song. Just for fun. If we do book the studio for 2 hours we can choose maybe 1-2 additional songs to rehearse.

This is a very casual thing, you don't need to be a professional. I myself play for fun. Just be able to play/song the song roughly at the same tempo as the studio version, hit most notes, etc.

Shoot me a DM or comment here if interested!

Just finished Oathbringer and I have a few questions!

I finished Oathbringer and I loved it!

I just have a few questions. No cosmere/SA spoilers past oathbringer please.

  • What exactly is the difference between a singer and a fused? Fused are singers who's gemhearts have been inhabited by voidspren? And this gives them radiant abilities?

  • In the same vein... if it was proven that humans are the voidbringers... then why do voidspren inhabit the hearts of parshmen? Is it because humans are from Odium, and so are voidspren, and thus since Odium is now allied with the singers, he lets them use it?

  • What are the unmade? Are they related to Odium or has it not been explained? The heart of the revelry was one. But also, the red mist that apparently causes the thrill is also one? And then they captured it on the big gem on the final battle? So unmade are spren that can be captured in gems?

  • Dalinar getting his memories back. Was it part of the nightwatcher's curse (memories coming back at the worst time), or was it Odium somehow meddling with it to affect Dalinar more?

  • I didn't get the whole bit with Renarin. Was he helping Odium?

  • So Heralds are gods who cannot truly die? And they fight the desolation, when they die in battle they just get sent to what humans call damnation for X thousand years, and then they come back? The knife Moash got at the end, is it an artifact that can kill the heralds for real? I don't remember, has it been explained what gaved the heralds their power, and are they related to honor?

  • Lift can use both stormlight AND food as stormlight then? I don't know why, I thought she could only get stormlight from food. I don't remember her breathing in stormlight in edgedancer.

  • How do radiants and squires know what words to speak? Is it just chance? Trial and error? Does it magically come to them?

  • Why did Taravangian turn to Odium at the end? Was it because he was having a dumb day? Would intelligent Taravangian consider that? (I know odium specifically revealed himself when he was dumb)

Thank you!

Do you try to minmax the first time you are playing a brand new board game?

The first time I am playing a game I am always a little reckless. I know my performance won't be great as I am still learning. I will make mistakes. But I welcome them so I can learn what not to do while I grasp the mechanics and systems as a whole. It works great and my turns are quick.

There are minmaxers in my group (and I think it's fine to want to win and be competitive), but the problem is that they are like that also when we are just trying to learn a new game and it slows everything down so much.

This is not to say my way is better or worse. But what I will say is that minmaxing on your first run ever of a game just slows everything to a crawl. Especially people who don't even try to plan what they will do ahead of time, it's like their brains turn off when their turn is done, and only turns on again when it's their time to play, fully regaining conscience of their hand and the board. I have seen games that should take 30-60 minutes take THREE HOURS to finish... people taking 10 minutes per turn, you can see everyone on the table being bored and starting conversations when the minmaxer is taking their turn... That happened the other day and it was funny because all the minmaxers still lost lol

I don't mean to sound bitter, maybe I am slightly grumpy because it sucks when a short game drags on for hours like this. What is your opinion? How do you play a game for the first time?
