Curious to why the mods deleted the discussion about Ugly Noodle
Ugly Noodle in Geneva apparently is threatening ICE on employees. Attempted to cross post but its not allowed. Sad if this is true.
Not a lot of 100% gluten-free restaurants in Naperville.
Movie enthusiast trying to determine if I should buy a LG G6 or a projector.
Projector and screen recommendations for a movie enthusiast:@ $5K budget
I just moved into a new house and finally have a room where I can build out a proper movie setup.
I’m a big movie enthusiast and physical-media collector. I’m especially into boutique Blu-rays, 4K restorations, Criterion, Arrow, etc., so picture quality matters a lot to me. At the same time, I want the kind of immersion that I’m just not getting from a TV.
Current setup:
- LG CX OLED
- Panasonic UB820
- Sonos Arc
- Sonos Sub
- Sonos Era 300s as rears
Room dimensions:
- Room length: approximately 186" / 15'6"
- Overall room width: approximately 140" / 11'8"
- There are some small indentations/recesses in the walls, so one section measures about 145" / 12'1"
- The actual wall where the screen will go is approximately 112" / 9'4" wide
- Ceiling height: 8 ft.
-Ceiling fan
- Seating-to-screen distance will likely be around 12 ft
The room dimensions are a little unusual because of those wall indentations, so the 145" measurement isn't the overall size of the room.
I know going from an OLED to a projector means I'm probably giving up some black level and contrast. What I’m hoping is that the increased image size and immersion will make the tradeoff worthwhile.
My budget for the projector + screen is around $5,000, although I’m willing to stretch somewhat if spending more gets me a legitimately significant improvement.
My priorities are almost entirely movies:
4K UHD/Blu-ray
black levels
contrast
HDR
film-like image
immersion
Gaming isn't really a priority.
The big thing I'm trying to figure out is projector AND screen size/material as a combination, rather than just buying a projector and figuring the rest out afterward.
With a 112" wide screen wall and roughly 12 ft viewing distance:
What projector would you recommend?
What screen would you pair with it?
And how big would you go?
I want the biggest image that still looks excellent. If this were your room and you had roughly $5K to work with, what would you build?
Anyone have a story from Tall Grass Greenway Trail after coming upon the lady screaming obscenities?
I recently moved to the area and have started using the Tall Grass Trail.
On several occasions, I’ve encountered a woman who appears to be in her late 20s of Indian decent, possibly speaking through an earpiece.
She can usually be heard yelling from a distance, and as people approach, she sometimes moves closer while continuing to shout. Almost to get a reaction.
Today, at approximately 10:00 a.m., she was repeatedly yelling a racial slur (n-word), using insanely vulgar languag (Im a veteran. This was beyond the scope of anything ive heard in my life), and speaking about her writing and comedy career.
I understand she may be experiencing a personal or mental health issue, and I’m not looking to judge or identify her. I’m simply wondering whether others regularly encounter this behavior and whether she has ever acted physically aggressive or attacked anyone.
I always think she is rage baiting and wanting confrontation.
Email from Emerson Park HOA.
I find it interesting that the HOA has allowed trash cans to accumulate along the street for years and has ignored countless other violations without so much as a peep, but apparently, one condom is where they finally draw the line.
Free car wash at FLOW Express Car Wash.
FLOW Car wash, “Wolf” spelled backwards, is owned by the Wolf family, who also founded Turning Pointe Autism Foundation. It’s a great local business connected to an even better mission: supporting individuals with autism and their families.

Even if you dont use the link, you dont want the free wash, I want to throw support behind a cause to help those by letting others know that FLOW Car wash is more than just a car wash.

Blue Bottle Coffee is Nestlé owned.
This is a heads up, Blue Bottle opened at Oakbrook Center, a lot of people may not realize that Blue Bottle is NOT an independent coffee company. Nestlé acquired a 68% stake in 2017, and private equity now controls its retail operations. If you're trying to support local coffee and avoid companies criticized for water extraction and resource exploitation, stay away from Blue Bottle.
Day 0 of learning the process and the new clinic sent a link to sign into EVIF portal.
Am I wrong to think that this is a scam? The website is super janky, religious denomination has "cult" listed, and typing within the site causes the text boxes to overlap.
I stopped filling it out because I cant take this clinic serious if this is the portal they're using.
- Team RMI, with the Chicago IVF Fertility Clinic, if you're not trying to scam me and youre reading this, hire a developer and get an updated app.
Driving by, I noticed a lot of construction equipment and it looks like they’re bulldozing the area. Does anyone know what’s being built there?
