Nowhere will accept me without a guarantor

I have just moved here with my wife from abroad. I am a British citizen but she is not. I have signed the contract for a job for 45k a year and a guaranteed minimum bonus of 10% annually, but I dont start the job until 2 weeks from now. I have been trying to find an apartment for us to live in and everywhere is refusing me for not having a guarantor and still being in my work probation period (which is 6 months long) and are also refusing guarantor companies.

I dont know anybody who lives in the UK. The only other british citizens I know my brother who lives in bosnia and gets like 500 quid a month so he cant cover a 1k+ apartment, and my grandpa who owns a 3 homes but is retired. Neither of these are accepted as guarantors.

One agent I just spoke to, I offered to pay 6 months in advance and was told the new renters rights doesnt allow them to take advances on rent. I thought they just werent allowed to require it now, not that they cant accept my offering it?

Usually I wouldnt really care about sleeping in my car for a few months but I have a wife now and my workplace doesnt have showers...

Need help with pullups.

I havent done pullups in almost 10 years, when I was 20.

Currently I have been doing pullups every day for just over 2 months, usually around 50 a day. Currently I am stuck at 5 reps and that 5th rep is really difficult, somedays I cant get the 5th in any set.

The only place I have to do pullups is some monkey bars by my house, and because of the size and shape I can only really do parallel grip, so that is probably a limiting factor and I suppose its a bit bicep-heavy, but I feel like I should be getting some progression at least slightly yet those 4-5 rep sets I could do day 1 and they arent any easier after 60+ days of training.

Im in fairly good shape overall, around 80kg 7% body fat, run occasionally and have done bjj and kickboxing for most of my life. For some reason I just cannot get pullups down and its driving me nuts. When I was 20 I managed to do around 200 in one evening as a challenge with my brother, and those were sets of 10 with a few minutes break in between. I get it, im older now, but damn...

I did have a total exercise break for a couple years due to a broken neck so my back and shoulders are probably in very poor shape.

Theres no gym around me or even any decent trees to try do normal form pullups so shoulder width parallel grip is all I can do. Can anybody give me some advice? Is this not really a good type of pullup to focus on?

My first Duna probe

Hi I am having trouble designing my first interplanetary probe. I have tried and failed loads to do a manned mission to Duna, so to save Jeb his cycle of cold lonely death or a firey explosion, I want to send a probe. I have a few science experiments ready and a bunch of small tanks, a spark thrust, as many solar panels and big batteries as I can fit.

Then I look up how much comms power I need to use my probe, since all my previous probe attemps to minmus failed because of a total loss of control. I am given to believe I need 3 or 4 of the RA-2 dishes to keep a connection. The power requirement on these is enormous!

I have constructed a solar panel porcupine and it is barely enough to power a single dish, and I have lost all my precious deltaV that my poor piloting severely needs.

How do people send probes out without an rtg (im in science mode) when a few seconds at max warp has you far far outside of comms range, and then you are just watching a brick shoot through the darkness of space?

Who does temp car insurance with international license?

Does anybody know of any companies that can do temporary insurance? My wife has a Japan license and an international permit. I have gone through every site I can find and none of them will accept her driving license number, even though most of them explicitly state that they accept international licenses.

Kind of a joke, in the first few pages of google I found 5 or 6 seemingly unaffiliated companies, all using the exact same looking web form, which just craps out when I put her license number in.

Tried money supermarket but if you tick the box for International License, it still requires you to enter a UK license id in to the field below. When I spoke to support from there they told me that they do accept int. IDs and the form does work, only to then try it themselves and say "huh it doesnt work thats odd".

Ive called the companies I found that have phone lines and it seems like the person on the other end just goes to the public website to try do what I already did and doesn't work. I had one guy even read out the same error verbatim that I just read him after trying himself!

She needs to drive for just a day but I haven't found anywhere that will accept her license number. I am tearing my hair out searching all week. If anybody knows a company that can actually do this or has any experience please let me know im begging you.

What is this?

My grandma passed away recently. She lived in Japan for a while around the 50-60s and was one of my major inspirations for moving here.

She had a stockpile of sculptures, paintings, books, and a climbing stick from fuji.

I also found this and I have no idea what it is. My wife doesnt recognise it.
