The $900 USD Armored Core Speedrun Bounty Starts Today!

A few weeks ago I announced an Armored Core Speedrun Bounty of $900 USD for July, which starts today! From July 1st to July 31st the player or players with the fastest times submitted during this time will be rewarded $300, $600, or all $900 USD.

You do not need to set a new world record to claim the bounty. You only need to be faster than everyone else who submitted a time during the month of July.

The SRC page of Armored Core also has a link to the Armored Core Speedrun/RTA discord where you can ask questions in each games dedicated channel.

July Armored Core Speedrun Bounty Competition Official Announcement

I am MrRedEye75. I have been streaming and speedrunning Armored Core content since the announcement of Armored Core 6 way back in the year of 2023. For the last year I had researched, unearthed, and rerouted information related to the speedruns of Armored Core, Project Phantasma, and Master of Arena. I claimed the world record in all three games and now I want to PAY YOU to play MY favorite games. This post will contain all the rules and information for participating.

Speedrun Bounty Ruleset

31 day open period from July 1^(st) to July 31^(st).
The runners with the lowest time (or times) that have been submitted within the 31 day time frame to Speedrun.com will be awarded 300 dollars each for “Armored Core Any% No Fail Missions/No Major Glitches,” “Armored Core Project Phantasma Any%,” and “Armored Core Master of Arena Any% no OoB.” A runner can claim multiple rewards for a max of 900 dollars.
Times and records submitted before the start date will not be counted. Even if you are brand new to Armored Core speedrunning, this is your chance to make your mark and be rewarded for it!
For the purpose of the speedrun bounty event Legacy Hardware, Emulation, and PS+ versions will all be in competition.
For runners using emulation: you must use a clean version of Duckstation with no additional plugins or modifications. Console settings must be changed to the following in DuckStation:

Armored Core: All boxes unticked. No overclocking. Read Speedup set to 2x (Quad Speed). Seek Speedup set to 6x.

Armored Core Project Phantasma: All boxes unticked. No overclocking. Read Speedup None (Double Speed). Seek Speedup Maximum.

Armored Core Master of Arena: All boxes unticked. Read Speedup 6x (12x Speed). Seek Speedup None.

Emulation Settings should all be left unadjusted. Runahead disabled. All other boxes unchecked.

No modifications that change or alter the controls may be used. For example: Analog patches or mouse injectors that allow Keyboard + Mouse control. Only one device can be used for controlling the game. For example, you may not use both a gamepad and the keyboard at the same time (using the controller for general play, then using keyboard to execute glitches).
After successfully completing a run, the runner must display their Console settings and controller keybinds over the game window without making any cuts or edits in their video submission.
All other rules on the respective pages for each game on Speedrun.com must be followed.
You are encouraged to say “Arigatou, Niedle-san!” at the end of every submission (Important!!!! Niedle is our Japanese admin/mod for the PS1 Armored Core games on Speedrun.com)

Payouts will be made via PayPal money transfer. Participate only if you are able to receive money from PayPal.

I have created a YouTube playlist here with speedrun tutorials for each of the three games for those interested in participating. They should give you a general understanding of how to progress in all three games in the correct categories for this event.

Brand new tutorial video for the Armored Core 1 Speedrun.

First off, thank you to everyone that participated in the polling I did recently on twitter for the bounty I plan on hosting for the first generation games. While I plan out the rules for the speedrun bounty, I have created introductory videos to help guide you. Today's video is for the original AC1.

A lot of planning and optimization was put into this, ultimately resulting in a new world record as of April 27th of this year. I plan on putting up a 900 dollar bounty to get people interested in playing. While I finalize the regulations for the event, I'd like to give everyone a springboard to jump off from.

StreamElements missing from top menu bar.

After updating StreamElements and OBS, the StreamElements menu at the top of the screen (where File/Edit/View/Docks/Profile/etc are located) is just gone now, so I can't access things like the event emulator or other StreamElements functions. My StreamElement overlays and widgets still work, it's just the SE menu is completely gone. It doesn't appear even if I start OBS from the SE.live app instead of OBS directly. Is there a way to fix this?

Recently found there is a glitch in the Japanese copy of Armored Core 1 that lets you equip an additional back weapon, even if you already have a double back weapon equipped.

Gauging interest for a PS1 Series Armored Core Speedrun Bounty

Howdy. Recently I accomplished World Record in all three legacy runs for the Armored Core series on PS1 and now I'm trying to get more people into it with a bounty. Hopefully as a way to try and jump start Armored Core as another popular retro title for speedrunning, as I've really enjoyed my time with it and would like to see more people running. I've started up a poll on twitter, so if anyone who is interested thinks they might like to participate I would appreciate your participation. Right now I am considering a pot of 900 USD, with 300 dollars each going to whoever achieves the fastest time in Armored Core, Project Phantasma, and Master of Arena.

A few days from now I will throw up some more polls to decide the rule set based on community feedback. The runs right now are split between legacy (PS1/PS2/PS3/VitaTV) and PS+ (PS4/PS5). There is also the prospect of allowing or banning emulation. It will come down to what people would enjoy speedrunning.

I can answer any questions you might have regarding the runs in general. There is also a discord dedicated to armored core speedruns shared by the English and Japanese communities if anyone is interested.

It has been an incredibly fun journey to accomplish this triple crown feat. For each game I've had to invent new tech, reroute more efficient shopping and level progression, and push my execution to the limits. This is something I've wanted to do ever since starting to speedrun and this year I've accomplished it.

BUT IT'S NOT OVER YET

If you are interested in speedrunning or love these games, I recommend you start practicing now. I have a small lump of cash saved up that I'm keeping set aside, as I plan to announce a speedrun bounty for these games sometime this year. I will be releasing a series of speedrun tutorial videos ahead of the announcement so keep your eyes peeled and ears open. I had a great time running these games, I hope to encourage others to experience this joy as well.
