Flip, Flop and Fly

Here are my images of the RG SP (sent for review by Anbernic). This was an interesting one to photograph because of the hinge and how much the colour changed depending on the angle.

Walking on Air

Hello folks. I just wanted to share my images of the Mangne Air Y the company sent over for review. I hope you like them.

Coming In The Air Y Tonight

It's been a massive month for handhelds, hasn't it? We've got this one, the Nova, the RG SP, all form factors that people have said they've wanted for a while, with lots of power under the hood as well.

It's actually very difficult to keep up. Anyway, these are my photos of the Mangli Air Y they sent over for review. I hope you enjoy them.

Is The Retroid Pocket Nova Worth Its Weight In Stardust?

I've been trying to get this online all day, for various different reasons have stopped me from being able to publish.

But it's finally up there, so if anybody would like to see another review of the Retroid Pocket Nova, then please do go and check it out.

And if not... Please don't go and check it out.

It's Got To Be So Retro!

I just wanted to share a few images of the RP Nova that I have in for review from Retroid. The last one is a poster mock-up I made because I used to do a lot of graphic design, and I like to keep my hand in once in a while.

Going Nova: A Whole New Universe of Retro Gaming

I wanted to share my photos of the Retroid Pocket Nova with everybody. This unit was kindly sent over from Retroid for review. And I've been trying to get my video out all day, but things seem to be going wrong with the upload. So I thought I'd share these.

They have been around a bit now, as I've posted them in some Discord groups and on Instagram before the weekend. But just in case anybody hasn't seen them, I hope you enjoy them. I even made a bit of a poster at the end, because I like to keep my hand in with graphic design once in a while.

Brick To The Future

I was very fortunate to be sent the Brick Pro over from TrimUI for review. I wanted to share some photos that I've just taken/edited with the unit. I'd love to know what you think.

Anbernic RG Rotate - A New Twist On An Old Idea

A few days ago, I released my pictures of the Anbernic RG Rotate, which they kindly sent over for review.

I'm glad to say that I've finally managed to get the video review online as well (at 5 in the morning, so I'm not doing as well as I would have liked).

This was a really interesting device to take a look at. I think it would be good for some people as an everyday carry, and I'm not sure the lack of a headphone jack is a particular barrier to entry, even though I would have preferred if they'd included one.

Having said that, it's clear that this form factor and specifications are only going to work for part of the handheld market, and Abnernic have placed its bets with them. Will that gamble pay off?

What they've got here is something that's truly unique, and it's grown on me more as I've used it. But it also has compromises (both as a gaming handheld and a media player) that are going to put people off.

This is my first hands-on look at the device, just before it actually goes live.

Good Things Come To Those Who Rotate!

It gives me great pleasure to introduce to you, the RG Rotate!
(Okay, I know you've all seen it already)

This unit has been sent to me by Anbernic for review, and as usual, I have produced a set of photos, one of which will end up in my thumbnail.

This arrived yesterday, so I've done my best to rush out a set of photos. But I'm also looking at this for review as well, and it's an interesting little device that at the moment I can't put down.

I'm not playing anything on it yet (I'm doing a big testing session today), I'm just playing with the device. What we've really got here is a very expensive fidget spinner, but one that actually has quite a lot of utility.

I think the trick with this one isn't to think of it like a high-end device built to play GameCube and PS2 (even if it'll only do 50 to 60% of the catalogue).

Think of it like a more powerful TrimUI Brick. So you get to do everything you would with a Brick, but have better support for the higher-end systems and the ability to add in better shaders or maybe some upscaling, and all for around the same price as the Brick Hammer.

Along with that, there's the ability to play media as well, all in an incredibly pocketable form factor.

There is the irritation of not having a headphone jack (which is something that I always like to see on these devices), but I'm actually finding it more difficult to get hold of 3.5mm headphones, as people seem to be switching either to wired USB-C or Bluetooth. Perhaps this is something that we'll have to get used to in future.

Anyway, there's lots to talk about around this device, and I'll have a full video coming soon, hopefully before the end of the weekend and before the device is actually released onto the market.

I hope you enjoy the photos.

It's been a while since I've been able to upload a photo collection, as real life has kind of kicked my ass a bit over the last few weeks. However, I'm very pleased to be able to share these with you.

This, of course, is the Miyoo Mini Plus, and this was sent over by MechDIY for me to review.

And I thought this was interesting because there are so many new devices on the market, and this thing is fairly weak when it comes to chipsets, and yet it's absolutely beloved by people, and I wanted to find out why.

I think it's remarkable that the Miyoo Mini Plus is still going strong. Not because it shouldn't, but because it's found its place. It's found a niche, and it really delivers for the people who love it.
