Distant Lightning Show Timelapse
Caught the storms that went through southern WI last night from my rooftop in the Chicago suburbs. Probably one of the cooler timelapses I’ve taken.

To take advantage of the 5% gas (I get Costco gas), I PC’d my Unlimited to the OG Freedom. I also currently have the CSP to take advantage of the Kroger 3% mobile groceries and a Flex that I was previously using for the rotating categories (I’ll probably sock drawer this with having the OG now). At this point, I’m wondering if I should maybe reapply for the CFU to take advantage of the 1 year 5% gas/groceries bonus going on. The problem is I don’t want to do it right now since I’m already getting 5% on gas next quarter. Additionally, I want to take advantage of the CSR 150k bonus. Does it make sense to chill for now until this next quarter is over and then apply for both the CFU (catch all) and CSR (churn by paying rent) after next quarter ends? My main spend is groceries and gas at the moment.
I’m pretty married to chase right now since I live in the Chicago area and mainly fly United, but I’m open to other cards. I take around 1-2 domestic trips per year and an international trip every other year. I try to fly United as much as possible for all of those.
My fico8 is 784 and I’m at 3/24 right now. Thoughts on this? Am I being too Chase focused?
I do have a Citi simplicity I used for a balance transfer which will be paid off soon, along with a Discover It and a WF Autograph which I got from previously being on Bilt.
On August 23, 2018, I took (I think) BA296 from ORD to LHR. I don’t know how to find the tail number for this aircraft but I’d love to as this was my only time taking an A380 and I’m having a custom trading card created for this flight. Would love to include that tail number on the card. Sadly, I wish I would have gotten some better pics of the plane at the time but I was in awe at the size. Any other fun tidbits about this flight or plane would be a bonus :)
I'm looking at getting a new tent for myself and my 75 lb German Shepherd. After a lot of research, I've pretty much narrowed it down to the TNF Wawona, but I'm stuck between the 4P and 6P versions.
I’m not new to camping and I only car camp. When I do camp, I tend to bring a fair amount of gear that I keep in the tent when I'm away from camp. I currently have an exped megamat LXW that I sleep on. I'm also trying to future-proof things a bit in case I end up camping with a partner down the road.
Right now I'm leaning toward the 6P. The larger vestibule is really appealing because I like the idea of having enough covered space for a chair and small table where I can hang out during rain or when it's excessively hot and sunny.
My question is: am I being unreasonable with the 6P for my current use case? I know the standard advice is to buy the smallest tent that meets your needs, but since I exclusively car camp, weight and packed size aren't major concerns.
For those who own either the Wawona 4P or 6P, do you ever wish you had gone larger or smaller? Is the extra space and vestibule of the 6P worth it, or is it overkill for one person and a dog? I also noticed there’s a vestibule sold separately for the 4P and would be open to picking one of those up.
Any thoughts or experiences would be greatly appreciated.
Looks like there was a 3rd sample of the recent shy pink release and honestly these are my favorite compared to the two that actually dropped. Anyone know if there’s any reps of these?
New pickup. I normally stick with the black laces on low 1s, but I’m kind of digging the two tone! Most won’t like the patent leather but I’m a sucker for it.
Hey all, first timer here going end of May with a friend who has done this the last two years, but never at this time. We’re going for 4 days/4 nights. Been doing a bit of reading about what to bring for this time but it sounds like late May is very hit or miss on what the weather could be. Additionally, I recently lost a ton of weight (and am still losing weight) so while I have to buy gear for this trip, I’m trying to avoid buying as much as I can since my weight loss has me spending a lot on clothes lately lol
Here’s what I’ve got so far and/or already budgeted for and am wondering if this will work. Will be wet footing but going to try our hardest to stay dry while doing it due to water temps.
1 pair of muck boots
1 pair of light sneakers for camp shoes
1 pair Merino long johns
2 pairs Merino socks (1 pair stays dry always)
3 pair under armor boxer briefs (I get bad sweat down there lol)
1 long sleeve sun shirt
1 short sleeve workout shirt
1 pair poly/cotton mix joggers as mid layer
1 pair of waterproof cargo pants
1 Patagonia R1 fleece as mid layer
1 Patagonia torrentshell rain jacket
1 Marmot PreCip rain pants
1 wind shirt (similar to Patagonia Houdini)
1 fleece-lined beanie
1 pair of gloves
1 sun hat
I’m unsure if I need a heavier jacket or not or even a fleece hoodie, but the hoodie sounds heavy. I have a pretty lightweight down alternative jacket and also a somewhat heavier actual down jacket.
I also assume I’ll be sleeping in the merino long base layer every night. I do have a good exped sleeping pad and a 20° hooded sleeping bag.
Am I missing anything important for clothes?
