his feet get eaten by rats

Okay can’t remember exact premise but the main character is a young white man who ends up on a pacific island where he is living among the indigenous ppl there. I don’t think he is the only white person there; I think he is there to study for anthropology but maybe he is a missionary I’m not sure.

He is warned to sleep w a blanket but it’s so hot he does not and the rats get at his feet during the night.

The solution to treat him is either a very hot knife or to expose the soles of his feet to the sun all day long. Queue montage of him sunbathing his feet.

Reminds me of medicine man but not sure of exact era. Been trying to remember what this is forever. No one in my family remembers either.

Smoked Turkey legs?

The business center website has smoked Turkey legs. Does anyone know if they actually carry it in stores? Specifically the Edmonton location. Also what damage would I be looking at? I’ve never purchased them before.

Why are you upset when servers give u the cold shoulder when u don’t tip?

Disclaimer: I am not a service worker and have never been.

I understand not tipping and if that’s what u wanna do then no one is stopping you but when you are being served and sat and waited on by someone and don’t tip, yeah maybe they will not like you and you shouldn’t get pissy about it. The expectation is that you will tip. To the point where some ppl don’t even make minimum wage bc they’re expected to be making tips on top of their 3 dollars an hour.

You sticking it to the man and not tipping in that moment is not going to change the fact that their employer is not paying them a living wage. Absolutely they should be but if you don’t want to tip then go ahead all the power to you but don’t get upset when they give you the cold shoulder. Would u not be pissed after making less than a carton of eggs in an hour?? You’ve shown them much you value them and they will return the favour.

And of course their hospitality isn’t comepletly genuine. That’s how all professions in the service industry are. Complain about how these ppl are just being charismatic and pretending to care to get money. Well yeah, they end up serving hundreds of people a week how are they supposed care about each every single person to an extent where apparently you must feel coddled and worshiped to tip. Do you care to get to know the person serving you? How often are you remembering their name?

Deep in debt. On verge of not making minimum payments

EDIT 2** thanks again for everyone who read and commented. I was up all night worrying about this and now after spending the morning on the phone with a few different ppl , I’m moving forward with a consumer proposal. If it’s accepted it will cut my debt in half and be manageable for the first time in what feels like years. Without you all taking the time to respond I never would have felt confident enough to deal w it so quickly. Life’s tough out there take care of yourselves and watch out for each other. Much love

I’m in Alberta. Of course I hate having gotten to this point but I’m struggling and don’t know where to start. Slippery slope for sure.

I’m in almost 50k debt between 3 credit cards and 2 personal loans. No need for me to tell the winding story how I got here but I’ve been working hard to last couple years to make headway and it’s never enough. I’m now at the point where I’m concerned I won’t be able to even meet minimum payments soon much less pay off things. Any headway I’ve made in the past was then smashed by things like raise in rent, car maintenance, gas prices etc. The new meds my cat started a few months ago is more exspenisve than the three of mine combined!

I have no assets and no safety net. Recently I had to take leave from work for health reasons. Physio and therapy are expensive and almost all out of pocket. Thankfully, I’m not at risk of losing my job, where I do make a decent wage, but I am receiving 60% my wage while I recover. Hoping to be back full time by the end of summer but regardless even when I’m back and making my full wage any progress is minuscule. I’m already playing catch up.

I never travel, don’t spend money on whims and have cut my grocery bill nearly in half from what it was two years ago. I also started university this year so bring on student loans but I can’t work retail all my life. Funny thing is if I didn’t have all my debt, I’d probably be able to afford school without student loans. The prospect of marrying, creating a family and taking care of my parents as they get older is getting farther and farther away.

My car is paid off and home life is relatively stable but I’m at a loss what to do. I Will be 30 next year and this is not how I wanted life to be looking. When I’ve looked into Debt consolidation it has seemed like just another personal loan in disguise. Is bankruptcy an option because that’s scary? Truly don’t know where to start. What can I do when I owe what I make in a whole year?

**EDIT: thanks to those who read and commented. I’m feeling a lot better knowing I have options other than bankruptcy. Glad to learn about Alberta’s OPD program and will look further into consumer proposals
