Planning my D1 upgrade strategy

The situation: Mid-November flights to/from Haneda.

Current purchase: Premium Select.

Outbound: SEA to HND daytime flight following a 3-hour layover. Currently 11 of the 32 D1 seats still available. Upgrade cost about $4100.

Inbound: HND to SEA late evening-departure preceding a 4-hour morning layover. 14 of the 32 D1 seats still available, upgrade cost around $3800.

Status: Platinum.

I've never flown Premium Select, and I've never flown to Asia, so I'm "flying blind," so to speak. I assume Premium Select is basically the same as Domestic First Class, which is usually too uncomfortable for me to sleep in.

My current thought is to just cope on the outbound flight, since it's daytime I probably won't be sleeping anyway, but when I get to SeaTac ask the gate agent if they have any opportunities for me to buy D1 on the return flight.

So I'm here to ask two questions:

  1. Is D1 really that much better than Premium Select? And is Premium Select really no better than Domestic First Class?
  2. Anyone have a good idea on how to approach their unsold inventory? I'm guessing I want D1 if possible but I'm still not sure I can mentally handle $3500-$4000 for the least comfortable hotel room I've ever been in.

Mystery 60s/70s song

I've had a song stuck in my head for more than a year and I can't figure out what it is. I thought the chorus is "End of the line / end of the line" but definitely not it. It's got a Steppenwolf kinda sound to it. This is my best effort at recreating the tune.

Favorite liquor store?

Hi all - I’m visiting TO in a month and am looking for a good liquor store with good selection. I’m staying downtown but will have a car if I need it. I’m specifically into rums and agave beverages, but also regional drinks that I won’t find as a West Coaster.

Advantages of flex packs / season tickets?

Hey Rip City - I went to about 10 games last year, purchased on secondary / Costco / Ticketmaster every time. As the off season moves on, I'm wondering if I might as well put in for a partial / full season ticket plan (with the idea of selling what I don't use, which would end up being the majority for full season).

Is there any advantage to buying through the team before the season starts? And is going full season really worth it?
