Atlas (Atli??) family!

Atlas (Atli??) family!

Recently got the Star League set and realized I now own one of each generation of Atlas in mini firm! 😁

The Atlas is in Fed Suns colors, while the Atlas III is in Republic of the Sphere colors! I'm undecided on what colors to put the Atlas II in? 🤔 Maybe a new Merc/pirate unit?? Or maybe an obscure Periphery State? I was thinking what faction was painted brown with yellow accents?? For some reason I easily picture this Atlas in brown, like a Grizzly bear!! 🤣

Custom kitbash ship

I was playing around with the bits from my UCM cruisers and frigates and a trick I saw about using plastic or wooden clothes pins to make a miniature starship hull!

After an evening of watching movies and a beer, I came up with this ship I made here. 😁 Built around a clothespin core, and covered in the unused engine parts, hull panels, and weapon accessories from cruisers and frigates kits. I used a bombardment weapon with the barrel removed as an old fashioned bridge tower. And I added some tubing in the back to give it a few additional engines in the gaps. Pics are WIP. Paint is next.

It's a little longer than a typical cruiser but less bulky. And it looks more old fashioned and more wet navy ships like in style; so...

In my head I imagine it's an older Heavy Cruiser design built for long range independent deployment. Like border patrol or armed exploration. It's armed with 2 medium mass driver turrets, missile batteries, and an early, less powerful, prototype of the Cobra Laser cannon (prow mounted).

Due to its solo mission profile, the ship has two small craft bays (port and starboard) carrying a single squadron each for recon, and interception. It also has a single Bulk Lander launch bay slung under its keel for planetary expedition shuttles and armed recon landers or drop ships.

Defensively the ship is equipped with advanced (for the time) electronic warfare and stealth shielding, and massed point defence laser batteries that rival most modern cruisers. As well as fairly advanced sensor detection systems that befits its scouting roll.

I dubbed it the Houston Class Long Range Cruiser.

Awesome freebie!! 😍

This morning I went to the local hobby shop to pick up a missing claw arm from the resin Ork Rustckanka kit I bought over the weekend. When I got there, the seller not only had my missing arm but also gave a whole new kit to apologize! 😱

I was totally fine with the missing arm, I understand mistakes in home packaging happen! But he gave me a cool new Ork Scraproller mono-wheel Buggy kit!! It's pretty cool...

So I built it this afternoon (with a SLIGHT modification where I added a couple Gatl'n Big Shootas to the kit!) 😁

Awesome service from a local hobby dealer and a couple great kits to add to my Freebooterz Horde!

Deodorant Grav Car Update

Just a quick post showing the final build of my modern take on the classic Poorhammer deodorant tank scratchbuilt project.

All bits added and primered up ready to paint! 😁

I'm torn between painting it up as a military vehicle (camo, or grey/green) or as a post-apoc beat up sports car with gear and weapons bolted on?? (Hot Rid red with rust and scrap parts?)

Last two picks are google image searches for "sci fi sports car" I'm using for possible inspiration.

1st attempt at a Deodorant Tank!

After 40 years as a hobbyist and gamer, I'm making my very first attempt making an iconic kitbashed vehicle: the Deodorant Stick Grav Tank! 😂

Mine is still a WIP, made with toy pieces, old model parts, and the required thoroughly cleaned deodorant stick... I'm adding thin card panels all over the exposed deodorant stick plastic, leaving thin seams between. And I'm sourcing some more "technical gribblies": thin pipes, cables, mach parts, etc.

It looks more "Land Speeder style Grav Muscle Car!" then "Tank", with the big heavy looking front end, so I'm going to add an engine top blower and a couple pipes coming out the sides. 🤣

As for faction?? I'm working on a Red Corsairs force made from 15 Traitor Marines and around 70 Cultists. So it'll end up being red and black and filthy with disturbing glyphs and runes painted and scraped into the weathered paint job! 😁

I'm not up in the CGL release schedule or planned products, but I'm curious if there's been any hint about a new plastic version of the Joust Medium Tank?

It's a great little 40 ton Clan tech battle tank widely available on the open inner sphere market. I've used a squad of them to very good effect in Alpha Strike for a while now and I'd love to get my hands on some new models as currently I'm using inadequate proxies...

The Iron Wind Metals version looks pretty cool, but $10 per tank is a bit spendy for me... 😬

My final list has 8 of them so you can see how the IWM price adds up?
