[Event Report] What We Did at the Newport Open Narrative, or, How Makhret the All-Knowing Made their Excuses and Left

When one awakes and finds oneself in the renewed Battle for Armageddon, there's only one thing a Cryptek of conscience can do. Declare for the Oppressors and escape from the planet, one defeat at a time!

(Forgive the Dark Angels helmet. It was too hot for proper cosplay, so I went with this loopy "John Hammond of the forty-first millennium" bit, and... well, I was in the colours anyway...)

[Battle Report] The Wound in the World | Eleventh Edition | Incursion XL | Nephrak Dynasty (Necrons) vs Sworn Hunters (Space Marines)

It's been too dang long, but the war in Sector Maledicta is back on for eleventh edition! The Nephrak Dynasty requires new weapons to prosecute vengeance for lost Mer'thy'rod, and this geothermal distillation site seems to have unearthed something ideal. A pity one of its former occupants got out alive, and managed to send a distress call...

Meta? I don't even... know her? because I've never MET 'ER! | another "hear me out" list for all your bottom table terrorism needs

Yes, I'm back on my bullshit for eleventh edition; no, I'm not sorry for what you're about to witness.

I've always liked Deceptors for its potential in making Warp Talons and Chaos Terminators pop off while also getting Cultists upfield and where they need to be early on. Now that it double-teams with Murdertalon Raiders I can combine it with my other favourite thing, which is filling my boots with Allied Units to make Battleshock nonsense sort of semi viable ish. (The fact that it gives me a proper second edition style Chaos army with a bunch of cult troops from other legions is also pretty nice.)

Cultists Infiltrate, sticky objectives, and turn two start charging to stack up extra inches for my Deep Striking units on their charges. Those Deep Strikers are the Warp Talons and their Lord (the 40K app lets me add him to them, so I'm assuming I'm allowed to), the Raptors and their Lord, and the Terminators with their Sorcerer (who are also the legitimate use case for combi-weapons - plenty of Devastating potential and nothing else to split out and roll separately).

Plague Marines and Rubricae are my objective ticklers, with the Rubrics able to hop in the Rhino and get sped into midfield if I'm playing on a six objective map, or reserved for holding home and Overwatching anything that looks at 'em funny if I'm not. Noise Marines can either ride in the Rhino pretending they're a turret gun or hold home depending on what the others are doing.

Noise Marines and Plague Marines collaborate to stack up some Battleshock penalties, and the Abominant forces casualties, Battleshock tests, and "oh look, my Raptors got meaner" Murdertalon rules on anything near its stupid giant base.

The Lone Op Chaos Lord does actions, exists in spaces, and generally says "ignore me I'm just here for secondary points."

Absolutely no redundancy, but hey, it's different, and after thirty years of this nonsense, different is all I crave.

This is undoubtedly one of my most ideas of all time. It's not the first occasion when I've jammed out a Terminator themed Night Lords list, but it's the first time since seventh edition. It was a dare from someone claiming to have accidentally bought six or seven boxes and I knew everyone else would be posting Black Legion.

This one isn't that mental. I just saw support for Deep Strike charges, thought about Warp Talons, and got excited. Then I thought about it some more and hey, this could have legs.

OK, so hear me out. The Lords are chosen to match and enhance the units they join (I have this peculiar loathing of too many different profiles in the same unit).

The Chaos Lord hangs out with the combi-weapon Terminators, if there's an opportunity to fish for wound rerolls at any point they're going to take it. The Sorcerer rolls with the other Terminators. Both units can Rapid Ingress in the same turn for 0 CP. That's pretty neat.

The Jump Lord and Raptors pack a lot of Marine busting into a fairly small easily Deep Struck package. If they don't get to charge it's not the end of the world, but it's another one that can be rerolled or extended, potentially for free.

The Daemon Prince I'm not sure about. I looked at that Enhancement and thought "I bet that'd be sick as hell on a Daemon Prince." I think there's an argument for Khorne but without any inbuilt charge completion tech... and also, this is probably the best use case for a Tzeentch Prince in CSM, with enough stacked buffs on the gun profile to make it worth shooting at last.

Cultists. You gotta. Sticky, screen, survive (that last part is optional).

Two Terminator units, the Sorcerer's gets the heavy flamer because they're the more likely to land a Deep Strike charge (inbuilt reroll from aforementioned Sorcerer), so I'm more likely to land them in range. Obliterators for firepower, Venomcrawlers because they come with the Obliterators they're cute little distraction bugs, just fast and dangerous enough to need targeting and cheap enough that I don't care if they live or die. Besides, it wouldn't be a Night Lords gameplan if I didn't make the arachnophobes in the room nervous.

Finally you have the uppy-downy melee beef in the form of Mutilators and Warp Talons (the latter being where the CP will most likely go, since completing their charge and killing stuff is kinda crucial to them doing their job).

Best thing ever? Maybe not. Something a bit different? I think so.
