Can we talk about how amazing the Tim Hiedecker/Onion/Infowars crossover is?

The Onion buying infowars legit might be the best thing to happen in years especially with the decision to put Tim in charge, they've only done a few episodes so far but holy shit are they hilarious. The one that just ended might be the best stream yet.

Always wished The Onion would make another movie, but this is infinitely better. Seems like it would be perfect for late night AS sort of like hour long fake infomercials, if AS has any sense they'll try and make a deal with The Onion to do reruns.

Never would have seen this coming but it makes me love Tim and The Onion even more

Gamechanger Recoder, anyone else get one?

Curious what people here think about them now that they're starting to show up and more demos are coming out.

Mine showed up yesterday after just 5 days of shipping which is impressive for Latvia to the US, also had some weird customs clearance issue that was resolved after emailing UPS thankfully and no additional tariff costs which was surprising.

Have only spent a bit of time with it so far but it's wild, feels like you'd need a few hours for an in depth demo that covers most of what it can do. The manual is worth a look as there's a lot going on: https://gamechangeraudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/recoder-manual-web-version-01.pdf

If you haven't heard of the Recoder it's a very unique granular sampler + vocoder/synth hybrid, it can record samples & vocode them with the input but also has a separate record input that can be used as a real time modulator signal to vocode the main carrier input.

Also unlike a lot of granular/sampler pedals it can record very long phrases (up to 10 minutes per patch) and even has a built in mic which aside from the Evil Pet endorphin no other granular pedals have. The specs are pretty damn impressive:

1024 frequency bands which can be lowered to 512/256 with the resolution switch

3 layers/engines, white (input/carrier) yellow (samples/granular) & red (modulator) which all have different sets of very interactive controls

3 play modes for the samples, loop mode, step advance, and live input for real time vocoding without using samples

The samples can be "stretched" to 10x their initial speed (both slower or faster) without changing pitch, but you can also shift the pitch 4 octaves in either direction without changing the speed

Envelope that can add swells or shape transients

Dual distortion engine for extra harmonics, digital drive & bit crushing/sample rate reduction

Full midi control over parameters using 3.5mm midi in

What really excites me about this pedal is how interactive the 3 layers are and all the possibilities for having separate inputs + outputs for the carrier & modulator signals. Seems like the kind of pedal you can get very different results with depending on the signal chain & instruments used

Still need to figure out the best spot in the chain for it but leaning towards the end to sample other FX but run it in parallel with a blender, and use a mixer aux out for the record input so it's easy to route different signals to the mod signal.

Anyone into fermenting interested in starting a fermenting club?

Just started a batch of water kefir & wild yeast ginger culture, would love to find some people to share recipes/notes & ideas. The ginger culture is already super frothy after 2-3 days which seems crazy as it usually takes a week.

Have also done sourdough in the past and would like to get back into that too, had mixed results but made some great bread batches & even sourdough pizza which was a lot of work but some of the best pizza I've tried.

Maybe even go berry picking & use some local ingredients or do meet ups in a park to share brews while the weather is nice.

Got into brewing wild yeast ale for awhile but don't really drink much alcohol, have always wanted to try mead it just takes so long & honey is so pricey vs cane sugar.

Also want to try old school root beer but couldn't decide on a root/herb mix or good extract to use so would appreciate anyone with experience doing classic fermented soda

Pickled veggies are also easy & delicious, was making pickled ginger/garlic & the garlic especially was amazing on sandwiches.

Fermenting is surprisingly easy especially while it's warm out, and it's a fun way to make some tasty & healthy food/drinks for relatively cheap.

If interested comment with what you've made or would be interested in making, or ideas for good local ingredients to use. A berry picking group also seems fun, found a huge blackberry patch up in the hills with what I believe are local wild raspberries mixed in. Haven't seen them flower yet but spotted at least 2-3 distinct varieties mixed in with the blackberries.

Curious what people here prefer, just ran out of kelp meal and been looking for a good price on a decent sized bag but am also tempted by some liquid or slow release/pellet fertilizers.

Have a huge assortment of cacti many of which are way overdo for a transplant & feeding, and money is tight so hoping to find a good deal on a few big bags or concentrated liquids that will last awhile.
