Its personality and its insatiable urge to bite everything made it one of my favorite Pokémon. It was incredibly strong for its size, and Ash trained it well. It would have been great to see it in more battles and maybe even evolve into Gabite.

It's the only outfit that isn't inspired by the games' protagonists. Plus, it's the one Ash looks and feels best in—so fresh, original, and looks great on screen. A Y2K style that suited him perfectly!

I was rewatching the episode where Ash wins the Orange League and I paid close attention to the plaques of the previous trainers in the Victory Palace on Pummel Island. They left several clues by carving the silhouettes and footprints of their Pokémon into the stones, which match the team photos.

Analyzing the frames, here's what can be identified:

First group of trainers: On the plaque on the left, the segmented relief framing the stone is the body of an Onix. On the one on the right, the sharp relief at the top is the outstretched wing of a Pidgeot.

The female trainer's team: Her plaque reveals a very balanced team. You can see the texture of Golem's shell in the upper left, Magneton's "U"-shaped footprint in the upper right, Blastoise's sturdy footprint at the bottom, and the shapes of Seadra and Jolteon on the sides.

Other details in the background: In the farthest areas, you can see a perfect circular cut that matches the body of a Geodude or Graveler, and a pronounced relief that appears to be a Rhydon's horn. A Ninetales and a Starmie are also visible.

It's amazing how they packed so much information into a background that only appears on screen for a few seconds, showing that the Orange League had its own history of formidable champions before Ash.

I've been thinking about a theory regarding Paul and Ash's rivalry.

Paul mentioned that he had traveled through some of the same regions as Ash and participated in Pokémon Leagues, although he never achieved notable results. That made me wonder if Paul might have already known who Ash was before they officially met in Sinnoh.

By the start of Sinnoh, Ash had already competed in multiple regional leagues and achieved respectable placements:

Top 16 in the Indigo League.

Top 8 in the Silver Conference.

Top 8 in the Hoenn League.

He wasn't a superstar, but he was definitely a consistent competitor. If Paul had competed in those leagues or followed the competitive scene, it's possible that he had seen some of Ash's battles before.

Another thing that caught my attention is that Paul seemed to be keeping an eye on Ash very early on. By Episode 3 of Diamond & Pearl, Paul was already observing Ash's battles from a distance and evaluating both him and his Pokémon. Considering how dismissive and uninterested Paul usually was toward other trainers, it's interesting that he paid so much attention to Ash right from the beginning.

Maybe Paul had already heard of him through previous leagues and wanted to see for himself whether Ash was actually a strong trainer or just someone getting lucky.

Of course, there's no direct evidence that they met before Sinnoh, and this is only a theory.

Togepi was one of those Pokémon that left an unforgettable mark on the series. From the moment it hatched from its Egg, its innocence, vulnerability, and adorable personality made it a truly special character. For five seasons, its playful antics, joyful moments, and distinctive cry accompanied countless adventures alongside Misty.

Its evolution into Togetic was an important milestone, but it also felt bittersweet. While it represented growth for the character, it seemed more like a long-overdue evolution from Johto than the beginning of a new chapter. Even so, there was always hope that Togetic would one day return to reunite with the person who had cared for and protected it since the day it was born.

The bond between Misty and Togepi was far more than that of a Trainer and her Pokémon. It was a relationship built on love, care, and a maternal sense of protection, making it one of the most heartwarming connections in the entire series. Even today, it remains one of the most cherished and nostalgic relationships in Pokémon.
