JSP job offer

I'm 65, female, ex-childcare educator, don't have a car. Had my initial interview last Thursday and yesterday the jsp sent me an sms with a link to a job offer:

Forklift/Cargo Handler at Brisbane airport. Must have car and forklift license, can pass police & medical checks, be fully vaccinated.

If I were to apply for this job off my own bat I'm sure they would refuse to give me the points for it as I'm not qualified for it. But since the jsp sent it to me am I actually meant to apply for it? Can WFA knock it back for points since the JSP sent it to me?

Jobseeker points cycle?

Does the points cycle for jobseeker go by calendar month or line up with 2 payment cycles or is it random and different for everyone?

I had my first interview with a provider on Thursday 13/8 and was given a points goal of 10 points to meet by Tues 18th, which I did because I got 10 points for the provider interview.

My last reporting day was Tues 11/8 (I was previously self managed through Centrelink) so that means I'll be halfway through my payment fortnight. I've also done 3 hours of paid work this week so should I report that now and bank it or will that be counted in the next cycle when I report my income to Centrelink? I don't want to miss out on the points for the work but I also don't want to risk the paid work being counted again when I report it to Centrelink.

TIA for any help.

Phone for initial appt?

I'm 65 and have been self-managed with Centrelink for the last 8 months but my casual work has now dwindled to almost nothing. I called them yesterday and asked to be put with WFA so that I can do other things to help meet my obligations and the woman put me with a JSP and said I'd have to go through them and ask them to change me to online self-managed with WFA.

The JSP will take me 1hr and 45 minutes travel time by bus. I'd much rather just do my interview over the phone, especially since I just want them to change me to online. Can they make me come in and do a face-to-face interview? If not do I call them today and ask for a phone interview or just call them at the appointment time and say I want to do it over the phone?

I'm perfectly capable of managing my obligations myself and I have a much better chance of finding work for myself than they do as I have a lot of contacts in the industry.

"Top up" mos with job application?

I'm 65 and self-managed through centrelink. I've been doing 30 hours of casual work to meet my monthly obligations but my hours are being cut. I'm not going to have enough hours this fortnight to meet my mos so was wondering if I apply for some jobs will that cover my mos? How many jobs a month do I have to apply for at my age? I've never been on the points system so no idea how it works.

I don't have a car and there doesn't seem to be much volunteer work available in my area but I am applying for what I can find.

65 and studying on Jobseeker

I'm 65 and been on Jobseeker for 6 months. I've been working casually to meet my mutual obligations (and have enough money to live on) but my available hours are about to be cut to about 6 hours a week.

I'd like to study to help me keep meeting my MOs. I've found a course I'd like to do through the International Institute of Genealogical Studies. The first module takes 7 weeks and involves 18 hours of online classes and then doing projects on your own time. I assume the other modules will be similar.

  1. Do courses have to be through an Australian provider (such as Tafe etc)? I think the Institute is based in the US but being an International organisation it has units and modules for several different countries, as well as many that meet international standards.

  2. Will Centrelink only take into account the 3 hours a week of class time or include the personal project time? Obviously the personal time is required to complete the course but I don't know how many hours a week it will require.

I don't have a car which makes finding more paid work or volunteer work very difficult.
