Does anyone actually get anything useful out of these check ins?

My current employment consultant is actually a nice enough person but these fortnightly face to face check ins are a complete joke. I travel forty minutes each way just to sit at her desk for less than ten minutes while she shows me photos of her cat and talks about her weekend craft projects. She just clicks a few buttons says you are doing great darling and sends me on my way. While I am glad she is not a total tyrant breathing down my neck it is incredibly frustrating having to spend money on public transport just to be a captive audience for random small talk

Provider promised reimbursement, now they're ghosting me?

Hi there!

Any help is appreciated.

To keep it short, I recently did a little study and a first aid certificate to help me get a job. My provider promised to reimburse me and now for the last few weeks they don't respond to any emails or texts.

It adds up to a decent sum of money and I was really counting on them covering it. I have texts and emails of them confirming that they would, but I'm not really sure how to proceed.

What would you do?

Thanks.

Is your job plan tailored and updated?

I’ve just been moved to a job provider; and been made to sign a job plan on the spot. The workforce Australia website says it would be tailored to my circumstances. I am wondering if mine has been tailored?

Before being moved to the provider, I started studying a VET course that’s under 12 months, and in a course that’s government subsidised. It’s also a skills shortage area.

I told the provider. But there’s nothing about this study on my job plan.

It just says I have to attend all appointments and interviews, I have to accept any job offer, I have to act appropriately at appointments and interviews, I have to meet whatever points target and job search the provider tells me I have. And I will have to work for the dole if I don’t have approved activity after a few months.

Wondering how ‘tailored’ other people job plans are? Do they update them for you when your circumstances change?

IEA employment service provider, is insisting on me (50F) applying for apprenticeships and Traineeships.

IEA employment service provider is insisting on me applying for apprenticeships and traineeships. Im 50 and was assessed by centrelink as having a partial disability ( osteoarthritis and mental health disorders)

Not eligible for DSP, as my conditions are not considered permanent, and are considered treatable.

Employment service provider consultant and I had a brief conversation during our recent face to face appointment, where we discussed the likelihood of me finding employment.

Being 50, and not having a recent employment history due to having to care for disabled son, for the last 20 yrs. I also do not have any references.

Makes finding work near impossible.

As employers want to hire younger cheaper labour, and want to only hire those with sales degrees for call centre and cleaning type rolls.

So as a solution, my employment services provider has insisted on me applying for traineeships and apprenticeships.

I was of the opinion that traineeships and apprenticeships. Were for younger people., would an employer give these to someone over 50?

I have been applying for these type roles, but have been unsuccessful.

Employment region map

I live in a town in Victoria that isn’t obviously in any of the employment regions and I have looked and haven’t found one, I have contacted workforce Australia asking which region I actually am but while I wait for a response I am wondering if there is a map of what the employment regions actually are to see which employment region I am in

Moving from online services to a face-to-face provider. What actually changes?

I've been in the online self-service stream for the past six months and have just received a letter saying I'll be moving to a face-to-face employment services provider next week.

I'm mainly wondering whether this changes my mutual obligations straight away. Does the points target or reporting process usually change once you're assigned to a provider, or does it stay much the same unless they update your job plan?

I'm with an IEA provider. Would they reimburse me for a police check for a job application?

And how do you get a police check? I'm in Melbourne.

Although how do I see if I’ve still got my previous police check or not? I got one in the past and I don’t know how long they last.

I'm not sure what to make of this email- IEA To add I'm now considering going in to support care.

"Hi,

I hope you are going well.

I have been looking for suitable jobs and have not come across too many.

Next appointment I would like to discuss some other options with you.

Perhaps trying to get into a role until your preferred industry comes up.

For example, La Madrina Pizza in xxxx are currently looking for delivery drivers.

It may not be your preferred job however something like this would potentially benefit you by getting back into the workforce.

Another option, instead of applying for everything online, I would like you to consider going into businesses with your resume, introduce yourself and ask if there is any employment available at the moment.

Since you have already applied for Coles, can you attend the store and hand in your Resume to the manager and let them know you have applied online and have a history of working there?

You would be a great candidate as you already have the experience.

I understand this may be out of your comfort zone however it shows employers that you are taking that extra step and would work in your favour.

Have you had a chance to condense your Resume as discussed in the last appointment? If so, please send me a copy when you are able to.

Lets discuss this further at your next appointment."

The whole thing is just really annoying because where I am its full of big retailers and unless she wants me to go in hospitality there isn't much where I am where you can walk in and hand over a resume.

The interesting thing is she wants to discuss my options. I'm actually thinking about going in to support care now. I looked in to this a few years ago but couldn't do it due to health issues.

EDIT: I forgot to add I can't go to Coles and hand in the resume anymore as the application has completely gone through and I already know its unsuccessful.

Can anyone please help me understand? JCA result letter (I haven't had a JCA) and Work Age and Compliance appointment letter (I am normal work age and I haven't received any demerits)

I receive JS, not DSP. I thought JCAs were for DSP, not JS. I thought ESAts were for JS.

Basically, I got a letter saying I have been assessed and that my capacity is below 8 hours per week, and while I do have to do a Job Plan (they have booked me a Centrelink phone appointment in two weeks), all obligations but quarterly appointments will be voluntary. They didn't say whether this will be permanent or not, but I'm happy with it for now!

Is it possible they've just assessed me based on my history? I have a long history of ESAts, have been with DES for several years (I haven't yet engaged with IEA as I reached the DES time limit last year, but nobody has contacted me till now.)

My condition was accepted as severe and permanent in my last ESAt, and the assessor put in the report I am a good candidate for DSP.

I expected at some point to have to do a new ESAt (last one expired) but it looks like now I don't have to. I do still plan to apply for DSP (no tips on that, please, I'm across it) but if this letter is correct, I have some breathing space.

I'm confused (but very relieved!) Anybody know what's going on?

Also, the title of the other letter (notifying me of my Job Plan appt) was "Appointment notification- Compliance and Work Age." Can anyone explain what that means? I am in my 40s so I am neither under 35, nor retirement age, so I don't know why they would write that.

Also the compliance thing is confusing to me- I looked in my Workforce thingy, it straight-up says I have no mutual obligations and haven't had for some time (I have checked it daily since I was exited from DES) and there are no compliance strikes. Page is green, which from my understanding is good?

Could it be because I was clicking "yes" to the Job Plan question when reporting all this time? I was TOLD by them to do that because there's no alternative other than calling every single fortnight if you click "no."

Thank you. :)

How many days have you had to wait for you to be able to report after a payment suspension?

How many days have you had to wait to be able to report after a payment suspension? (System automatically lifts suspension)

And for those who's payment has been suspended on more than one occasion what's the average wait time/days until the system automatically lifts your suspension and lets you report again?

Cheers guys 👍🏼

What's the worst thing your job provider has made you do for no real reason?

Mine had me apply to jobs that did not even exist just to hit a quota.

What is the first few months of online services like?

Hi all. I got kicked off DES early last year as I'd reached the time limit. Nobody has contacted me to connect to IEA until now- I have a "compulsory participation appointment" with Centrelink in two weeks and I'm assuming that's what it's about.

As I need a new ESAt before I start with IEA, I'm wondering if they'll let me just do online services instead, as I plan to submit a DSP application in a couple of months anyway (I'm across the DSP application process, please no advice on that, thank you.)

I do have a Verification of Conditions form ready to go if necessary, but I really just don't want to deal with the stress of a provider in the meantime. I'll opt for the ESAt if I'm told I can't do online services and have to see a physical mainstream provider, because fuck no.

I'm aware that after four months with online services you have to do an activity. Until then, what does it look like? Is it just job search? How many jobs per month do you have to submit in the beginning?

Thank you.

Transferring from provider to online services. How long does it take?

So over a month ago I submitted the transfer from provider to online services form to the national customer service line that was signed by my provider and myself. How long will it take? As I’ve been waiting waiting for over 6 weeks now

I'm with an IEA provider. My job plan states I will do volunteer work at a certain organisation, but a person at that organisation turned around and said I can't go there anymore. How does this affect my Jobseeker payments?

My job plan says:

>I agreed to these voluntary tasks and activities:

>participate in work preparation activities with (organisation name) for 4 hours per fortnight. I will commence by (start date) and complete by (end date). "privatly" is undertaking volunteer work as a XXXX for (organisation name). He attends (days attended). This activity will enable him to utilise his skills to build and reatain his skill set to prepare for employment.

I'm chasing up whether or not my not being able to do volunteer work at this organisation (due to a technicality) is true or not. Since my job plan states I will do volunteer work at this organisation, will it affect my jobseeker payments if I can't go to that organisation anymore? Will I just need a new job plan drawn up or doesn't it matter?

Do DEWR complaints lead to tangible consequences?

I found a job on my own and told my employment services provider, they logged it into their system

When I was reporting my hours to Workforce this week, I noticed a job placement was reported in my history by my provider, I decided to file a complaint to the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations

I started last week, but it wasn't until the middle of the week my consultant asked me if I was hired or not, and then I got another senior consultant asking me if they could contact my employer to verify details to offer them a wage subsidy, which I declined, the job placement they reported was backdated from after I confirmed employment details, you can't both claim you put me in a job placement while I have them on record asking me what my job title is

Does anything happen to the consultants or office if DEWR opens an audit?

APM mix ups

Does anyone always struggle with APM stuff ups. I have a worker yesterday told me and my friend/support person I'm no longer with them. Went into centrelink to ask and they confirmed I am still with APM. Why dont centrelink and APM communicate to each other.

It was weeks ago when I got switched to inclusive employment Des which is under APM. I usually get scheduled for appointment times I don't choose. I had to cancel a friday appointment and push it to Monday. I went in on Thursday. When I've been on placement, I go to call them when that worker is away she doesnt tell me who to ring or that she is away. She has made my payments nearly suspended. I started talking to another worker instead of her. I once cancelled an appointment letting them know early I had a shift. I only work one day a week or twice cause my casual job has too many workers and I can't travel out too many shifts without a car.

I don't earn thar much, but centrelink has still dropped my payments down.

Anyone else had issues with APM and their terrible communication. It should be like a doctors appointment where you can click yes or no for appointments.

I said before they booked the friday in, that im not sure I can do the friday it gets booked in. Luckily I could change it to the monday.

Help with transport costs

I'm with DES provider (I don't remember the new abbreviation) I'm studying three days a week but I can't keep up with the cost of transport. I was wondering if they'd be able to help? I asked my consultant who said they'd enquire and the next communication I got from the company was to tell me he quit and I never actually got an answer

What's the biggest win you've had during your job search this year, even if it wasn't getting a job?

Job searching can be a long process and sometimes progress isn't always obvious. Could be gaining confidence in interviews, finishing training, improving your resume, getting more callbacks, or simply staying motivated. What's been your biggest positive step forward recently?
