Nursery start date advice

I know we can't predict the future, but my little one is due to start nursery 2 weeks before her first birthday party & christening. Realistically do you think I would be better to delay the start date? All I hear is about how sickly children are when they start nursery for the first year or so.

Did you throw a 1st birthday party?

I'm from a family that never really had celebrations as such and I am really keen to have a lovely celebration for my first (and likely only) little girl, it will also be a christening as well. However, I realise it's not strictly necessary and the cost is soon adding up - room hire, catering alone around £600.

So I guess my question is, did you throw a party? Are you glad you did or would you not bother if you had your time again?

Whilst I'm going to as much of the decor as I can unfortunately there's too many guests for a house party so the price is what it is.

Thanks in advance! ❤️

Ps. If you have any cute ideas which you did and loved feel free to share!

Day 3 - feeling ravenously hungry - does it get better?

As the title suggests I'm on day 3 of 1.5 pills and I'm so hungry! If I don't eat I start to feel sick.

Has anyone else had this before the pill presumably starts to kick in? I tried the Mounjaro jab but I was too sensitive to it but I'm wondering whether these pills may just not work for me?

I'm definitely snacking more on the pills then off which is absolutely not the aim 😭

How long did it take for appetite suppression to kick in?

With the Mounjaro injection, I think I was overly sensitive and the appetite suppression was extreme right away (I stopped taking it as it was too much).

When did the Wegovy pills start working for you on 1.5mg?

Pills arrive tomorrow and I'm very nervous

I have about 56 lbs / 4 stone to shift post pregnancy and I'm getting pretty desperate. I unfortunately had awful side effects with the Mounjaro jab (only ended up taking one injection as I couldn't cope with the side effects) - terrible, terrible stomach pain (on the floor through the night in pain) and bad gas pain / constant fullness.

Needless to say, I'm really nervous about trying the pill and am starting to have second thoughts. My thought process was that if I got the pill I could stop it instantly if it didn't agree with me?

I go to a lot of mum and baby classes and ideally don't want to be pooing my pants out and about!

Did anyone go self employed after maternity leave?

I have been made redundant towards the end of my maternity leave and I've got a bit of flexibility to try something new (well as flexible as can be with nursery funding removed 🙈).

I just wondered whether anyone had done this and if so, what did you do and how did it work for you?

I'm from a corporate background but haven't really been enjoying the environment so I'm of the mindset of seeing this as an opportunity to "have a go".

Anyone tried Wegovy?

Just looking for experiences please. I had quite a bad initial reaction to Mounjaro which put me off continuing (namely severe abdominal pain but also I must have been very sensitive to it as I couldn't do much as drink a sip of lemonade for weeks without awful bloat/ gas pain at the top of my stomach). I was pretty miserable and disappointed that it wasn't going to be right for me.

A month has now passed and I'm desperate to lose my baby weight. I'm wondering whether Wegovy is worth a try, apparently it's a lighter drug so I was hoping I may not react as strong / sensitively.

If anyone has any similar experiences I'd be really grateful for your insight.

Smashed compact - what to do?

I dropped my brand new MAC bronzer and it's smashed 😭 anything I can do or am I better crumbling it and putting it into another pot to use as a loose bronzer? Thank you!

New toys for 7 month old

What are/ were your baby's favourite toy(s) from age 7-12months?

I'm looking to buy just a few new toys for my baby as she is outgrowing her current stash.

We aren't a household of hundreds of toys everywhere, so I'm only looking to buy maybe 5.

I know as she gets older she'll be happy with the wooden spoon and a pan (etc.) but whilst she isn't moving I want a few in the room where we play.

She really enjoys the spinning bell flower toy, push down spin toys so I'm thinking along those lines.

Looking for a mat I can have on the floor now that my 7 month old is starting to explore more. I want once that I can easily wipe down/ brush as we have two cats and they just shed hair like mad (hence why I don't really like her on the carpet all that much, despite hoovering constantly she still comes away with hands full of hairs!)

If anyone has any recs which will also survive claws that would be fab! 😻

Lift your feet up!

I tried it on a recent flight with bumps and it really did help, raising my feet ever so slightly so they weren't touching the floor made the movement feel a lot less. Now the bumps were only tiny, probably nothing to everyone else, but my body goes hyper aware and intune as though I can feel everything.

Just wanted to share as I had never heard of that before ☺️

UPDATE: Thank you so much for everyones responses. Having read through them I've come to realise this isn't for me and I won't be taking any more. I'm using it to shed stubborn baby weight and having food and the very occasional gin brings me joy and I don't want to lose that. In addition I'm also frightened to experience that pain again especially where it's self inflicted, for me it's just not worth it. So I'll be trying to get the pounds off the old fashioned way and I think this experience will force me into sticking to it, knowing that this doesn't work for me. Thank you all again.

I took my first 2.5 dose on Monday at 5pm, I had some nausea through Tuesday but nothing I couldn't handle. At around 10pm on Tuesday I started with horrendous stomach pain, it felt like I had a burning ball of fire right in the centre just below my rib cage. Also accompanied by a night of nausea. At one point I was on the floor with the pain. I took paracetamol and Rennies. It's been hell and I'm not sure I can do it again, I'm also too scared to eat today in case it happens again tonight.

If this happens each week I absolutely can't continue using this.

Has anyone experienced this and did it happen each week/ did it get worse going up doses? I really can't go through that again and I can't look after my baby when in that state 😭

Any insights appreciated.

Hi there, I have always struggled with my weight with BMI always at least in the overweight/obese category. Pre-pregnancy I was around 210lbs and 6 months postpartum I am continuing to creep up, currently sitting around 236lbs.

My weight is presenting challenges, aching joints, bad back, it's just not easy continuously bending and being on the floor with my baby. Everything that I don't want.

Ive lost control and given up on myself. I want to get atleast 40lbs off fairly fast, whilst also adopting good habits and exercise. I can do the healthy lifestyle but at this weight, I've just psychologically given up.

Has anyone else used this to shift a certain amount of weight, then slowly tapered off and continued then with a more typical weight loss using diet/ exercise? I don't want to see this as a tool to lose all my weight, I just want an initial push to get me back to a place where I can move easily without aches and pains.

Any advice and experiences welcome, I'd be looking at Mounjaro. Thank you in advance.
