Mold incubator despite regular cleanings

As the title says, we have two moldy incubators that no matter how many deep cleans we do, the mold comes back.

I've been in this lab for a year for my PhD and it's giving me anxiety. The PI is very nonchalant about him and thinks it's "normal" and says that would always happen once in a while when he was doing manips back in his day. Everyone else in the lab has been here for longer than I amd some of them have never done another lab so they've also become a bit indifferent about it.

I literally lose sleep over it. I have very long cultures that require minimal media exchange per the protocol so I have a pretty big risk that mold might eventually develop in my cultures compared to my labmates who change their media twice a week.

From what I've been told, it's always the same kind of mold that comes back (per the pictures). They do deep cleans by following a specific protocol that involves autoclave every part of the incubator + 3M soap but there's no use. Last deep clean was less than 3 months ago and it's already this bad.

For reference, we have 5 incubators of the same model and 2 of them have the mold issue and both are in the same culture room (though I've never seen the second one in that room turned one. It's just there, door closed and turn off). The other 3 are in two different rooms. This model does not have filters for the air or the CO2, but it has a UV light around the waterbath. It does not have an autoclean mode.

I was hoping anyone might have a suggestion? Anything really

Thanks

How to fix slight compensation issue when two colors are used together but absent when used individually

I'm trying to optimize a panel of around 12 colors. The panel needs to be perfect after compensation as it will be used for sorting.

I'm trying to optimize it by testing each color by adding one individually to the group. So I started with two and then tested 1-2-3 together, 1-2-4 together and then 1-2-3-4 together. I then repeated this by doing 1-2-3-4-5, 1-2-3-4-6 and 1-2-3-4-5-6 etc etc.

When I do this, I compensate in the beginning for all colors and then will pass all three samples in the same experiment.

I'm currently stumped with two colors : BB700 and RY703.

On the same compensation, when only one or the other is present, the positive population is perfectly straight. When I use both together, I'll get both a frown and a smile when gated against eachother. I've tried increasing/decreasing the voltages, increasing the signals in the compensations, but I just can't seem to get them to be right.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions

WIBTA if I refuse to change my bridesmaid dress

I (26f) am a bridesmaid for my friend's (27f) wedding. We are 5 bridesmaids. The bride wanted different dresses for each of us, but all in the same color. We are paying for our own dress.

In January, we went dress shopping for the bridesmaids. We went to a shop in-person, tried dresses etc etc. Out of the five of us, only one of the bridesmaids found a design she liked. It was in the kind of shop that the dress had to be ordered in the correct size and color and it would only arrive months later. That dress arrived recently, at the end of May. When that bridesmaid bought her dress, the bride asked for samples of the material so that we'd all have a piece of cloth of the dress so we could find one elsewhere in the same color.

That same evening, I went to another shop on my own, and found two dresses I liked. I tried them on, sent pictures to the bride and she picked one. I also took pictures of my sample cloth with the dress and told her that it was the same color, but the dress I'm trying on is shinier. She approved the dress based on the picture. This dress was in a store that I didn't have to order, instead I left that very same night with my dress.

For months, the three other bridesmaids ordered samples from various online stores trying to find something similar. During that time, I mentioned to my friend it will be impossible to find an exact match and even mine had a different shine although the same color. The bride asked me for another picture again with the sample cloth which I sent. She heart reacted the pictures and the video I sent. Mid-May, they finally decide to all order from the same website with the bride's approval. Their dresses arrived last week.

One of the three bridesmaid with the website-dress went to the store I bought mine with the website-dress and took a picture of both dresses on top of eachother. Lo and behold, the dresses don't have the same shine.

Today, the bride asked me to buy a new dress on the same website. To "help me out" she can front me the money, and I can "pay her back eventually". I'm now expected to buy another dress + express shipping + express seamstress since the different shine is no longer acceptable.

I asked if they compared the website-dresses to the bridesmaid's dress ordered from the first shop. They haven't and they can't because her dress is at the seamstress. They can only compare it on pictures and they have decided that hers is more similar to the website-dresses than mine. Which makes no sense because mine also looks the exact same if it's just two pictures next to eachother, not the actual dresses.

The wedding is in 3 weeks.

I'm very upset by this whole thing because I've had my dress since January and I was the only one since everyone else had to order it. The bride is pressing me to buy another dress & I don't want to make a scene, but I feel like I shouldn't be the one paying for this. WIBTA to refuse & tell her I either keep the one she approved or she can pay for a new one?

I bought it with 4 leaves and 2 already fell.

They turned yellow before falling. Now the 2 remaining ones are turning reddish?

At first, I thought I was watering it too much, so I switched to watering it when the soild starts to look dry.

It's still in the soil I bought it in. I bought it at a plant store

It's in my bathroom next to a window
