They did it!

Well done to the construction crews and all who worked to get these 5 dorms done. It was a huge effort.

Wolverine Village building 4 - there may be hope

A new email has stated that Building 4 is in the final phases of construction, and the housing office anticipates that temporary housing will not be necessary. Whatever the case, a final decision will be reached by “early next week” according to the housing office. Hope it turns out well!

PSA: Community Matters courses take almost double the advertised length

All these sections combine for nearly 2 hours adding up their individual time estimations, double the advertised 1 hour. This wild underestimation of the total time occurs in most of the 6 courses. If you plan to do these make sure to set aside lots of time!

Full text of the Wolverine Village building 4 construction update

Dear Wolverine Village Building 4 residents:

We are excited to welcome you to campus this fall and honored that you will be part of the inaugural class of students to call Building 4 at Wolverine Village home.

We know many of you are looking forward to moving into your new home, and we want to keep you informed as work progresses on the building and how to prepare in the coming weeks.

Construction at Wolverine Village continues to make steady progress as we prepare to welcome our first student residents for the fall semester. The project is in its final stages, with construction, inspections, and final preparations continuing over the next few weeks as the buildings are ready for occupancy.

What you need to know now:

Building 4, where you have been assigned, will be the final building completed. While we are anticipating all construction and necessary inspections to be complete in time for your move-in, there is a possibility that residents assigned to Building 4 may need to be temporarily assigned to another Michigan Housing residence hall.

The construction crew onsite remains focused on completing the new dining hall and all five residence halls with the care, quality and attention to details that demonstrate the University of Michigan standards.

As work progressed this spring and summer, the university and our construction partners added additional resources to be ready for the academic year. Crews have been and continue to work multiple shifts to meet established deadlines.

The safety of residents, staff members and guests in addition to compliance with building codes are critically important and remain our biggest priority as we commission these new facilities.

No final decision has been made about Building 4, and no action is required from you at this time. This update applies to Building 4 only.

We are sharing this update now to be transparent as you prepare to join us on campus later this month.

What you can expect next:

We understand you may have questions and we are committed to keeping you informed throughout this process. You can expect to receive updates from Michigan Housing at least once each week, or sooner if there is significant new information to share.

Please continue to watch your email for future communications from Michigan Housing regarding Building 4.

TLDR: Wolverine Village building 4 may not be finished on time

Summer gym usage for incoming freshmen

I know you can’t use Hadley unless you’re actively taking classes in the summer term. Do the other gyms have the same policy? My friends and I were looking to familiarize ourselves with them before move in.

Will ENGR 100 and 101 both run out of spots?

I’m curious because I’m taking both at once and my advisor told me I may have to drop one if both fill up. Looks like there’s about to be single digit spots combined in both classes. Will they add more or will they both be filled?

Favorite buildings to explore/wander around on campus?

I love to wander around buildings and see interesting stuff in the hallways and rooms. Does anyone have any favorite spots or interesting areas to look around? It could be in any part of campus.

ENGR 100+101 scheduling question

Hello! I have scheduled both ENGR 100 and 101 for the upcoming semester (I had to replace chemistry because I earned credit, and physics didn’t have any options that fit in my schedule). My advisor told me that if both classes filled up, I may be required to drop one of them to make space for everyone to be able to take at least one of them. Does anyone have experience with this issue, or can anyone provide insight into how likely it is for both classes to completely fill?

Commute from Wolverine Village to SPH by 6 AM - how?

Title. I need to arrive to public health/observatory hall by 6 AM several days a week for Air Force ROTC leadership labs and physical training. I will be living in Wolverine Village which is a 30 minute walk. Not terrible but winter could cause issues. The first commuter north starts at 5:30 which will get me there but I’ll be fried if there is a delay. Is there any additional way I should consider? Thanks for the help!

Starting at UMich this fall, can’t wait to see more of this beautiful city!

I’ll be starting this fall as an aerospace engineering major, and I’ll also be working towards an Air Force pilot slot as a cadet at AFROTC detachment 390! I’ve lived in Ypsilanti my whole life and I can’t wait to see all that Ann Arbor has to offer. I’m so excited to meet new people and hopefully reap all the benefits of a great education combined with a great place to live.

UMich admissions has reduced us to Chick Fil A 😔

There’s gotta be SOMETHING better to say about us

I looked at both parts and it seems like a big step up from Knox Robinson’s 5K series. I’m training now and over the summer for Air Force ROTC so I plan to move on to a new series immediately. Would Rivs’ 10K series be a logical next step? I’m able to run a complete 5K with some difficulty but nothing too crazy.
