RANT: There is/should be no sales tax on cold takeout food in Santa Clara County
I really want to patronize small, local restaurants but most of them charge that extra 10% on cold to-go items when they don’t have to. It dampens my enthusiasm for supporting our sandwich, bagel, and salad places immensely.
Retailers need to set their point-of-sale equipment to reflect the tax code…the corporate chains do; I keep that in mind since I’m tired of arguing with shops that haven’t. Yet there hasn’t been an agency that cares when I’ve complained

Every time I swing by to get something for my lonesome, a huge SUV or monster truck in front of me is taking an interminable period to place, then wait, for the poor workers to make their complex order for the entire extended family, militia, or football team

Bibo’s Pizza slices
Lunchtime today I was near Little Italy and thought I’d try them again despite being disappointed a few times getting slices years ago at their original location. Maybe they’ve improved after their success and expansion.
Pictured is the combination I thought I’d be getting a slice of. Menu price is $6.50 so how it rung up to $8.44 I dunno. What I received, although competently executed, looked nothing like that photo. Toppings were sparse and not in the proportions represented, if present at all. I believe that amounts to actionable fraud if we were in Japan.
The crust edge was nearly 2 inches wide too. Again, not bad if that’s what is expected. I wholeheartedly want to support local businesses so I will continue to patronize other slice shops and hope Bibo shapes up in the face competition.
