Rico's Hypercharge Buffie says it increases his attack projectile speed, but it doesn't

Despite the in-game description of Rico's HC Buffie:

"Rico's Main Attack has increased bullet speed and fires additional bullets."

However, the bullets in both videos travel at the same speed.

I checked the internal game files and Rico's regular attack and HC attack have the same projectile speed value. Don't know how that happened.

BrawlStars Map Survey

Hello everyone.

One of our mod team members, u/PumpkinSeed100, has decided to conduct a survey where people can voice their thoughts on the competitive map pool in Brawlstars.

You can find the survey by clicking on this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeJL_IabNl2cAxFO8h68qZouv7InbWp_O1nskrRY3DylgKlJg/viewform

This survey will be split into 3 sections:

1: Historically Competitive Map Review

In this section, you will rate a selection of maps that either are, or have been present in Ranked and Esports, expressing how much you like/dislike them.

2: Special Tile Review

Here, you will give your opinion on tiles normally found in Mapmaker, including Healing Pads, Teleports and Train Tracks. Describing how much potential they could have in a competitive setting.

3: Community Map Review

This final section will cover experimental community made maps, where you can describe how good of a fit they would be, if they were hypothetically placed in Ranked or Esports.

Why are we doing this?

Not only do we feel that discussion on map design is fun and underrated, but with enough responses, the survey could potentially push the direction of Competitive maps in the future. 😉

It is for this reason why we encourage you guys to join the survey and form your own inputs.

PumpkinSeed will post the results of the survey after the North America Monthly Finals have been completed. We hope you have a good day.

How Lumi's character became a shadow of what could've been

Lumi was a brawler I was extremely hyped up for. While she is still one of my favourite brawlers in the game, I can't help but feel that her personality was handled poorly.

When Lumi was announced, her personality was really promising. She was a brawler that had an extremely passionate and badass side, alongside a shy and vulnerable side. With her fire and ice powers reflecting each respective side.

This is how Lumi's character is described in her description, and frankly, I really like it. At the time, very few female brawlers had actual weakness with their character, and having that be complemented with her being really energetic and hardcore had the potential to be really charming.

This personality is also well presented in-game. Her eye shape is very fitting for the personality they were going for, her thumbs up pin is great and unique, and her voicelines are really underrated too. Most emit a lot of passion and make her come off as really energetic. While I wish there were more voicelines that showed her shy side, the ones we do have are pretty cute. "I won! Yay! Can I go home now?".

While there are certainly brawlers with a better personality than her, it was clear that Supercell were cooking something. So how did they "ruin" Lumi?

After Lumi was added to the game, I feel Supercell decided to take a detour in presenting her character. This could be seen as early as her release animation, where she is fighting against enemies and acting very serious. This animation was good all things considered, but I did find it disappointing that they didn't explore the split personality gimmick they established with Lumi. Especially since Draco and Damian got much longer animations that gave both a backstory.

However it seems from there, Lumi became a very serious girl boss, such as the Legends of The Underworld and Stranger Things seasons where Lumi had a lot of hype aura moments and was pretty much the main character of both. While I don't necessarily mind this, my issue is that it feels disjointed with what her personality was initially displayed as. Lumi sounds very happy and energetic in most of her voicelines, so it feels like it clashes with how she's presented in most animations where she just acts serious most of the time, kinda like Bibi.

(I also want to bring attention to Lumi in the 7th anniversary image. I thought her expression was meant to reflect that she's nervous about being surrounded by so many people. You know, shyness. Only to realize she was just imitating an edgy meme face).

Now, let's get into the biggest issue with her character... her relationship with Draco. Even though I do think this relationship can work, I can't help but feel that the execution is very shallow.

Draco is silly whereas Lumi is a tsundere. Draco will flirt with Lumi and she will just get angry at that. Granted, there are moments where Lumi does like Draco such as the beginning of the Dungeons and Dragons animation where they are happily playing together, but that animation also contains 4 separate instances where the dynamic is just Draco flirting with Lumi. With not many alternative interactions being built upon.

What annoys me the most about this though is that this relationship is rubbed into the ground. Both the Stranger Things animations and the Dungeons and Dragons animations were filled with moments that were just "Hey look! Draco and Lumi romance!". Damian even has a voiceline that's just this. There is hardly anything more to Dralumi, yet the same card is being played over and over again, mainly because Supercell knows the YouTube comments will eat it up anyways.

The team took Lumi's neat character gimmick and ignored it by instead making her defined by being in a relationship with Draco. They probably decided to make her a girl boss just to make this more accurate. Funnily enough, she suffers from the same problem as Millie from Helluva Boss. She doesn't even have any dynamic with Damian or any other brawler for that matter.

Overall I am disappointed with how Lumi's character has been handled. Which is a shame because other brawlers like Finx, Najia, Meeple and Juju have excellent characters where their initial depiction in their voicelines is followed up with fitting moments from future media such as animations. Hopefully Lumi's next appearance actually does something neat with her.

Bot matches are ruining ladder

While bot matches have been a thing in this game for over half a decade, the recent trophy rework update have made these matches more prevalent.

Not only do you only face bots until 250 trophies on a brawler, but they also made a new tier of bots that can be faced. These bots are more intelligent than the ones you'd fight in friendly matches. They can use gadgets, hyper charges and can even come equipped with buffies.

These bots can show up after losing a couple of games, even above 1000 trophies. While it's easier for players to be fooled into thinking that these bots are real players, eventually you will start to notice something is odd. They get spawn trapped very easily and in 0:18 of the video, you can see an Edgar just running to an Amber and not even attempting to attack her.

Previously, if you were trying to push a brawler that's between 1000-2000 trophies, losing 2 consecutive games makes you fight against these 'advanced tier bots'. However, for some reason, they recently made it so that losing even a SINGLE game could make you able to fight against these bots.

Now for the record, I am not sure if this change was intentional or if it was secretly added in, there is also a chance that you can still fight against actual players even after a loss. Never the less, when you consider the fact that until 1800 trophies, you win more trophies than you'd lose, this change makes P2 pushing entirely trivial if you are bothered to spend time grinding that.

(An easy way of telling if you're fighting a bot match is by looking at the enemy's profiles, bot accounts can only have either default brawler icons, or the standard 2018 profiles as their icon)

I am already not a fan of bot games in principle (at least outside of the purpose of tutorialization), but the fact that Supercell says that they want ladder pushing to be more skillful and then proceeds to give it THIS much hand-holding is honestly miserable. Bot matches are also just unfun because it removes an aspect of what makes Brawl Stars enjoyable, that being making plays and strategies that reward genuine thinking.

Can Supercell just stop gaslighting us in trying to think that this game is competitive?
