Sick of Cup final chat

Can we stop saying every time we drop points that it was our oppositions cup final. Its getting Embarrasing.

I honestly don't think teams are stepping up against us. I just think we've played well for 150-200 minutes all season.

Need to start looking at ourselves instead of keep using the excuse that the other team just played at a higher level than normal.

Yes this started mostly as those big twitter accounts trying to get clicks but I'm now seeing this take more on here and hearing it at games.

It has to stop we can't be giving this excuse for the rest of the season.

How many club legends can a team have?

This is a carry on from this mornings debate about players splitting a fanbase as to if they are a club legend or not.

As a West Ham fan I feel like we have 6. Moore, Bonds, Brooking, Di Canio, Noble and Bowen. with 15-20 icons. Do top clubs just have like 30-40 legends?

I'm seeing Man Utd fans saying Bruno is a Legend but I feel like if he qualifies then they are looking at 40+ Legends which feels excessive.

So is there a limit? or can bigger clubs get away with more Legends as they have won more?

Why are people low on Burnley

Seen quite a few predictions now with Burnley 5th or even lower. I just don't see it.

Good squad with championship experience. Edwards, Tresor, Ramsey, Larsen, Broja, Amdouni, Flemming and Foster is in my opinion the best attacking depth in the league.

Raghouber, Mejbri, Laurent and Cullen is unreal CM depth for the championship. They are possibly a defender or 2 light but that will probably be fixed.

Are people putting them so low just because they don't know the manager or am I missing something else wrong with Burnley

Edit - few hours after I posted this ive seen Benjamin Bloom has them 10th. Be interesting to see tomorrow where Not the Top 20 has them finishing

West Ham Ownership mess

Thought i'd let people on here know whats going on and maybe why we haven't spent this summer.

So Křetínský was going to become majority shareholder due to buying the Vanessa Gold's stake of the club, However Amanda Staveley came in at the last minute and offered a better deal.

This means she will be taking the gold stake and she also now has her eyes on the Sullivan shares in the club. This all means Křetínský who talked a big game at the start of the window and who Bowen said convinced him to stay, No longer wants to spend money on transfers if he is going to remain a minority owner.

Basically its a complete shit show at the minute and something we need fixing because we currently have no squad depth. However I'm most worried about what this means for Jarrod Bowen who said Křetínský and his vision for the club was a main reason to stay.

This could be a roller coaster month for the club and something to keep an eye on for everyone making a Championship table prediction over the next few weeks

Can you loan out a manager

Silly question I know but with the Tonda Eckert decision coming soon, could Southampton loan him out to a team in another country for a season while he is suspended from English Football?

My other question is, if they can't do that does it mean if Southampton get rid of Tonda and he goes to another country to manage, then if in the future an English club wanted him, He would first have to serve his ban?

Is the most likely scenario we see him get a 6-9 month ban and never see him in English football again?

What do you guys find worse. Toxic negativity OR Toxic positivity

It feels like 80% of a fanbase fits into either of these 2 categories. While only 20% have realistic takes.

E.g feel i'm only seeing West Ham fans either say we will get 110+ points and walk the league or moaning we can't sell quick enough and not got any players in so will be lucky to get playoffs.

I hate both but I actually think I Hate the toxic positvity fans more. It was so annoying them saying after every loss in the run in that we would be alright and results will go our way and to back the boys.

I think most of us would like to think we are in that 20% of fans who dont fit in either category but which side do you guys think is worse?

Golf Cliches - Obsession with talking about dead people

I feel like after most wins they will link it too a family member or friend that has passed away recently and say they were looking down on him today.

The most commen for this is anytime a Spanish player wins they feel obligated to mention Seve was a hero to them growing up and he would be happy watching from above today.

Today after New Zealander Ryan Fox won the commentator said he was friends with Shane Warne because they played a few rounds together and that he was looking down on him today.

This has Zero links to football cliches however is a sporting cliche ive noticed when watching golf and needed a safe space to get it out. Thanks

Second Tier Pod hate

In looking for new podcasts for next season I was searching for recommendations of championship pods and any time someone mentioned Second Tier they were met with lots of comments slagging them off calling the pod shit but no one really explained why. Can people on here give me a good reason or is it not as bad as some say.

Based of recommendations i'll be listening to Benjamin Bloom and NotTheTop20 (I already was a listener as wanted 1 EFL pod to keep me in the know)

Can we stop talking about a countries Population for half the game please

Curacao yesterday had 1 player of the 25 man squad born in Curacao so when they say from a country with 150k people it feels false, Because probably about 250-500k more people qualify to play for Curacao that don't live in Curacao.

At least with Cape Verde 12 of the 25 are born in Cape Verde but still they have so many people that live in Portugal that can qualify that mentioning the 500k population feels like you are understating them

What players will be the next to tuck

Kimmich, Rodri, César Azpilicueta and Joao Neves. It feels like a certain type of player tucks their shirt in with the odd outlier like Adama Traore.

Makes me think who is next. Declan Rice for me is the obvious choice and for an outlier option I'll go Liam Delap

How is it that Fans and Pundits still don't understand how selling players works

recent examples are people moaning about Forest wanting 105+ for Anderson or West Ham asking for 85 for Fernandes.

These clubs don't need to sell so can ask for higher than market value, I don't understand how they aren't getting this.

Carragher saying 85 for Fernandes isn't fair and 50-60 would be a more fair value. A club would only sell for the fair value if they needed or wanted to sell a player. If they want to keep a player and don't have any financial struggles to worry about then of course they are going to ask for more than fair value so it makes it worth them selling the player.

Clubs have a right to set whatever price they want on players. If its too high and no one wants to pay it then fine, you get another season of that player.

Its like some fans and pundits of these big clubs just think smaller clubs need to bend the knee and sell for a fair price to help out the club they support.

Another reason it annoys me is this isn't a new thing and they always seem to struggle to understand something thats been going on for years especially with Premier League clubs that don't need the money.

This world cup is a football hipsters dream

Already seen multiple comments along the lines of "I'm more excited for games like Iran vs New Zealand and Ecuador vs Curacao than I am a potential semi between Spain and France".

Or when someone says they wont get up at 5AM for Tunisia vs Japan and multiple people feel the need to reply saying they aren't a real football fan and those kind of games are usually the best ones.

The fact 8 of the 12 3rd place teams go through makes the groups abit redundant as you only really need to win 1 game to go through but I have people telling me its not the "Full world cup experience" if i'm not up at 4AM for a Jordan vs Algeria group stage game.

To clarify I have no problem with those that do plan to watch every game but I feel half of them do it so they can prove to others it makes them a bigger football fan.

I will be trying to watch as many as possible but you won't see me bragging on online forums that I went to work on 2 hours sleep because I stayed up to watch a double header of Panama vs Croatia and Colombia vs DR Congo

People do Match ratings wrong (Rant)

So no idea why ive woken up thinking about this but I feel the need to rant about it so here we go.

Fans and even journalists get match ratings wrong. On a scale from 1-10 5 is meant to be average. However you will see a review for a player like this - Player X wasn't involved much today but when he was he was quite wasteful, not his best game today - 6/10

I'm sorry but if he is worse than average should it not be less than 5/10? I feel like when I read one of these match ratings a bad performance is given 5/10. Average players will get 6/10 and then good players will get a 7/10 with 1 or 2 players getting 7+

I just feel like we need to be more harsher with these ratings and actually L'Équipe are the only publication to get match ratings right but get called harsh.

I no longer want to see bad performance = 6/10 can we please start giving these the rightful rating of a 2 or 3/10 please.

Consistancy at the top

A month ago I done a post asking for people opinions if not having a dynasty was a good thing and 80% said different winners and meta changes were a good thing,

I didn't mind the new winners even though I Agreed its hard to create rivalrys and storylines that way but I think the constant change in teams qualifying isn't the best imo. I feel like this will be even worse next year when the changes come in.

This isn't a new thing. Last year of the 8 teams that qualified for Masters Bangkok, only 3 of them qualified for Toronto even though it was a 12 team event.

Now my question is - Is having 75% of a tournament be different teams to the last Masters event a good thing? If not what do you think can be changed to make it a game with a higher skill gap to see more consistant top teams.

Okay. Its time to Officially put a Ban on Haaland Touches stat coming on screen during a first half

Most low effort stat ive ever seen. Will always be followed by the commentator saying Haaland only needs one touch to score.

I feel like ive seen a mid game stat about his touches over 100 times in the 4 years he's been at City.

Was just checking some scores from the Copa Libertadores last night and I see Hugo Rodallega score for Santa Fe. The 40 year old has scored 60 in 141 games for them and actually finished last season as the top scorer in the Comimbian league.

After more digging I see that Radamel Falcao is also still playing in Columbia for Millonarios with a shoutout to a man who a few years ago kept being linked to the Prem in Alfredo Morelos who is playing for Atlético Nacional

Often happens with a save they call world class. Just for the replay to show the shot straight at the keeper, but they won't correct themselves. They will still keep repeating how good the save was even though we are all watching a replay of the keeper making a routine save.

Playing every other Friday night. Having to listen to Dom Goodman or Andy Hinchcliffe every week. Gary Weaver talking about teams planting a flag in the capital every time we concede at home. Needing to sell three quarters of our team for financial reasons. Half empty 60k seater stadium.

Feels nailed on we will be at home to Lincoln first game of the season.
