I forgot Mira!

I forgot Mira!

Poor Mira! This is my 3rd playthrough and honestly I didn’t take the time to explore the tunnel portion of Wayward cave, I only went to the left side entrance to go get earthquake. Doing a little more exploration on this round and I come across little Mira lost in the dark of wayward cave. So she’s just chillin in the dark on my last two save files, forever lost. I feel terrible!!

Quality over quantity

I’ve been playing through HGSS with various teams just to play with different mons and I haven’t played this game that much as I never had it for DS. This has been my favorite so far. Minimal grind throughout the game; apart from Lapras after gym 8. I was able to nab all the rare candies and get everyone to a healthy 48 going in.

The last two teams I played with I went in at 41 and then 40. There is a MASSIVE difference in your ability to control the battle with that big of a level advantage.

I once grinded out a Dragonite before the johto e4 and it basically solo’d the entire jester court. So that’s an option too.

But these 4 were amazing. Pretty sure Gyarados could nearly solo e4 as her max dragon dance + ice fang
DEMOLISHED Lances Dragonites.

You might think, hmm Alakazam when there is a dark e4 member. No no, Alakazam is amazing and there is a TON of poison Pokemon in the e4 line up.

Golem was a powerhouse. Only really needs earthquake. I was one level short of Stone Edge, soon enough though.

Lapras made Karen’s umbreon cry. Wall met bigger wall.

I’m looking forward to post game now. I was planning on breeding vulpix and houndour so that houndour gets will o wisp. Can you image Houndoom with nasty plot, will o wisp, flamethrower, and dark pulse???

Have a good day!!

Hitmontop Acquired

I evolved my tyrogue into hitmontop on my first try. Here is what I went through:

  1. Getting a neutral nature. One soft reset to get Hardy. Also tyrogue had Steadfast ability as I wanted Technician when he evolved.

  2. Several save states as I leveled, including right after acquiring Tyrogue.

  3. Vitamins—4 protein, 4 iron to set the EV tone. Used these right at the onset of training.

  4. I had collected 3 rare candies to this point so I used them right after the vitamins to understand ATK and DEF gain pace.

  5. Kept track of which stat and how much was increased by these free levels.

  6. Now I had to train. Gave Tyrogue Exp Share and let Larvitar lead as he needs ATK and DEF EVs mostly anyway.

  7. Flipped between the Goldeen on route 42 for ATK and Geodude/Graveler on route 45 for DEF.
WARNING! Don’t go in Dark Cave, Wobbuffet has shadow tag ability that forces you to stay. This caused me to get unwanted HP EVs.

  8. Keep track of how many EVs you are getting each level and keep them even. This mean watch how much EXP you earn while earning the EVs

  9. I had been getting +1 to ATK and DEF every level until I got to Lv 19 I gained +1 in DEF and no ATK.

  10. Fight only Goldeen to load into ATK EV, thankfully this gave me +2 ATK and +1 DEF getting his stats equal right at level 20.

I know some may prefer Intimidate for the drop in enemy attack but you only get it on switch in or at beginning of battle. Technician can proc anytime your damage is less than 60. Looking forward to triple kick!

I know there are probably easier, smarter, more guaranteed methods to get hitmontop but I’d never done it before and wanted to give it a go. I like the Hitmon pokemon, fighting types are top tier. I’m coming for you Karen.

These Mons we’re cool, but I can do better

I’ve been playing through johto first half to learn the game better. I wanted to share this 5 Mon team. All went into e4 at lvl 40.

I know the e4 can be beat with lower levels still but it was my lowest yet.

I really like umbreon. Not just cause of the cool factor but the various ways to build this Pokemon. You can work into a tanky special attacker much like the Komono Girls umbreon, or an evil wall that nothing can bring down.

One thing that you definitely miss out on in the early part of game is some of the really good moves Mon learn after lvl 50. Ive been trying to get my team to be higher level before e4. But it’s really tough in johto. But being lower level makes e4 more challenging.

Im not happy with this team so im gonna start again. I have been into dropping starter but i havent played with Typhlosion since I was a kid. I think Ampharos is amazing, but they are missing something in early gen. Jolteon and Electrode are just better so is Magneton.

Rambling now… thanks!

Umm what did I walk in on?

These two share a home and Machamp seemed a little tied up. Don’t you love finding your Pokemon doing funny things.

Pokemon I would never have had on a team

This team was a lot of fun

I wanted to play with Pokemon I had never had on my team in a playthrough (this is 8 badges league)

I role played them as final fantasy x characters with my player being Tidus

Togetic was Yuna, my healer and protector - 10/10

Sudowoodo was Wakka, mostly cause hurly rocks is a lot like blitzballs - 10/10

Granbull was Auron, an absolute unit with intimidate AND charm - 10/10

Misdreavous as Lulu, effective is certain scenarios 7/10

Octillery as Rikku, absolute glass canon but sniper + focus energy can eat if you can tank hits 7/10

Ariados as Kimahri, really just a weak pokemon with access to a lack luster move set in the first part of the game (poison jab in Kanto will boost him) 4/10

What do you think of this team?
Thanks!

Kanto Living Dex 🔥

I did it! Kanto Living Dex complete. I don’t have much to share as I see a lot of these posted. But I will say the chase was so much fun. I had a copy of Yellow as a kid that I got 151 on the Dex, but never had a living dex completed.

I did 2 leaf green play throughs on my switch 1 so I could catch the other two roaming dogs and trade them over to my primary Fire red on my switch 2. I keep hearing Nintendo will port Gen 3 RSE so if that’s the case I’ve started the National Living Dex now too! Between all three games, I’ve played ~170 hours.

I played Leaf Green on my switch so I could trade to my Fire Red on S2. I wanted to play through quick, so got to E4 sub 50. I don’t usually go in the low, so the challenge was fun.

Muk saved my run. Rival had 4 mons left and I was down to Muk. Thankfully Blastoise ran out of hydro pumps. While Blastoise used bite, I got 3 mons up so I had a team to fall back on. But between leftovers and a potion or 2 I got back to full health. He finallly switched to Alakazam. But I had set up Substitute and a focus punch. 2 hits and Alakazam was gone. Sludge bomb on Exeggutor, a focus punch of Rhydon, then back to blastoise. A few focus punches and sludge bombs later and I’m champ again.

Thanks for reading.
