The swimbeach at Wittenburg access. Has anyone here used it or know anyone who has?

I was over at that access the other day and happened to think about it. I drive across the bridge and pass it twice a day and I don't think I saw anyone out there all summer. I don't really recall seeing anyone use it last year either. When they first opened it I did see some people out there but it was only really weekends when the rest of the lake was busy. Just curious is all.

Are the generic reverse gearboxes for 30 series torque converters on Amazon, eBay, and other websites worth a damn?

You can find them on a plethora of websites under various "brand names" but ultimately they're all the same thing from the same factory in

China. The stated specs are 2000rpm 5-13HP. All that said, are they actually worth it? I'd assume they're at least decent at what they do but honestly I am not confident in that gut feeling.

The second part to that question. I have a Kenbar SC7 with an actual Comet 30 series torque converter on it and I have been weighing the idea of adding a reverse gearbox to it when I rebuild it. I am going to be using a Lifan 7.5hp engine with electric start. Will that all work together?

It turns out you can lose your skills when you don't practice. Taking an aluminum GTAW test after not doing it for 2 years.

It's not like riding a bike... I had a job interview/welding test today and royally fucked it up. I knew going in what it would be and figured I'll be alright and I should at least be able to pass the test, it just wouldn't be pretty or anything. That weld looked like I hadn't EVER done aluminum. I swear I felt like a kid in there. I already don't do well in interviews, my nerves get to me, but that was pathetic. I feel really defeated right now. I don't know what to do. I need to get back into it and practice but I don't have a way to do Tig right now and I'm broke. Guys, this fucking sucks. Send thoughts and prayers.

So I am going to be walking my sister down the aisle at her wedding. I need some advice on an outfit since I didn't really get any help from her or her fiance.

She doesn't really have a coordinated color or outfit scheme and she only said chinos and a nice button up for everyone except groomsmen. Since I'm not a groomsmen I didn't want to match them and she asked that I wear the suggested outfit. I want to do more with that since I'm kinda going to be in the spotlight. I want to go with a classic khaki chino and a navy blazer. I'm thinking of a light or medium purple shirt with it since the groom's colors are purple. Just kinda wanted a second opinion on this. I told her what I was thinking and she said that should be fine so basically no help.

Brake Question. I am trying to figure out if I should swap my mechanical disc brakes out for hydraulic.

I have a Kenbar SC7 with the factory differential axle. When I got it, the axle was pretty rough. Ultimately I had to remove the hubs, bearings, and brake rotors from the axle with destructive force(i.e. cutting torch). I now have a choice. Do I replace the old mechanical set up for hydraulic brakes or do I just buy new brake rotors for the mechanical calipers I already have and the kart was built with. The pads still have some material but I would eventually need to replace those as well.

Orange Cat vs. .300BLK: The Piss Weld Incident

I thought I owned a rifle.

Turns out, my orange cat had claimed it as his personal bathroom.

I’ve kept this .300BLK in a Pelican case for years with the lid open so moisture doesn’t get trapped inside. Never had a problem. Then I took about a month off from shooting and went downstairs to check on everything.

That’s when I discovered that this orange menace had apparently been peeing in the case.

Not once.

Not twice.

Repeatedly.

And not just near the rifle.

Directly on it!

At first I was pissed and just thought, “Okay, gross, I’ll clean it up.”

As I cleaned deeper, I realized the charging handle wouldn’t move. The takedown pins were completely locked up. This tiny orange criminal somehow created what I can only describe as a calcium piss weld around the entire gun.

I had to use a rubber mallet just to get the pins out and release the charge handle.

Finally got it apart…and this is what I found.

(pics)

I’ve seen plenty of dirty guns before, but I have never seen anything like this. The inside was coated. Corroded. Violated. Absolutely disrespected by a creature with one shared brain cell and zero remorse.

To be fair, I can label myself with one brain cell as I did leave it out...oops

So now I’m left with one question:

Did my orange cat just give me the most expensive excuse possible to build another rifle?

How would this aluminum tank be classfed at the scrapyard? Any idea on value? The whole thing is 12 or so feet long about 2.5 foot in diameter. It's strapped down to a steel base. Plan on removing all steel from it first of course.
