Good morning of listening to some Byrd. As much as I like his later funkier stuff like Ethiopian Knights, I really like his earlier stuff.

Still fairly early on in my jazz journey and I’m looking to get into more current day jazz (my wheelhouse so far seems to be 50s to early 60s hard bop). I consider Madlib’s Shades Of Blue to have been my introduction to jazz and saw someone here compare this record favourably. Man oh man were they right on the mark! As a long time hip hop fan, this is right up my alley. Phenomenal stuff

Happy birthday to this gem of an album. I was late to the Gizz party, and this was the first of theirs that made me say “oh shit!” Gamma Knife is my fave of them all

Just home from Massey Hall. Incredible show. Just stunning. Huge smile plastered to my face the whole time. I can’t get enough Katie and they played Crowbar which was my one request for the night. Since buying tickets I’ve been listening to more MJ and tonight it clicked for me. I’m now fully a fan of him after being resistant at first, and then on the fence. Don’t miss this tour!
