My now mother-in-law included this line in her toast. She threw a fit when we told her we were having the wedding in Florida, where we live. She wanted to have it in her small town in rural Illinois, a place I have no connection to. We literally went back and forth about this for months.

She went on to say that she was pleasantly surprised by how many of her family did show up and that she was glad they were all there. It almost sounded like a bit of an apology for all the fuss she made earlier but I still couldn’t believe she actually said that to the whole room!

My fiancée is a wonderful, smart, kind, loving woman who brings joy to everyone she meets. And yet, she grew up in an environment where love had to be earned and she was constantly told she wasn’t good enough. Now, whenever anything bad happens, her first instinct is to apologize and blame herself. E.g. Her mom made an insulting comment about me and she apologized, not on behalf of her mom, but for telling me about it.

Of course I reassure her whenever I can. I tell her how proud I am of her and how she doesn’t need to be perfect, she just needs to be herself. And she has made a lot of progress. But it still hurts watching her suffer needlessly. I know I need to be patient and I am willing to do that, but if anyone has any advice for how to help her faster, I would appreciate it.

I’ve had trouble falling asleep since I was a kid. I take melatonin every night and that helps a lot, but porn genuinely helps me get to bed faster than melatonin alone. I watch it at night not necessarily because I’m horny, but just to help me go to sleep.

Obviously I want to overcome my habit, hence my presence here. So I’m curious if anyone else has struggled with this particular issue and any strategies you’ve adopted. Thanks!
