Question about blogging!

I just started registering onto nekoweb, I would say im really new to web coding in general ( I played with toyhouse bootstrap 5 a lot and thats it 😅) but I am intrigued looking into making my own little web space for once, especially on blogging.

I have seen a lot of recommendations to look into zonelets for that, in which i only looked briefly that is just a template that any new entries just being a new html that we have to manually link to for every entries? I might be wrong but that does sound more tedious? What is the difference between zonelets to not using zonelets but manually making htmls ? Do I must make a site design around the given zonelets templates or can I insert it into my current site? Im sorry for such question I yet to understand the deal with zonelets!

Also what is RSS? I was under the assumption that nekoweb/neocities are primarily made as stastic webpage and not for blog?

Making my site undiscoverable?

Hi, I am new to neocities but I wonder if there is a way to keep my site online but undiscoverable? I already have robots.txt added.

Basically I want to share my portfolio between a small group or even sharing OC story+references to commission artists but at the same time I want a way to protect my works during this AI scraping era.

What are you using to share references?

Lately this been going in my mind with how AI and consent been getting worse. Few weeks ago, there was this drama on the JP side where a client's finished skeb was stolen by another client and got AI to alternate the design to claim as their own OC. And recently there was the scraping tragedy over at Cara... it made me thinking about how much I too should be think about protecting even my references of my OCs since those are both my own art AND commissions.

I used to use GDrive but knowing Google so I left it years ago. Im using Notion now as its very flexible for text and image uploading; but the team behind is openly pro-AI.

Been thinking about making my own website to host the references and thinking of security key ... but might that be too much just to share references for art commissions? 😂

Do you think securing the reference and art comms matter?

How functional is a downloaded carrd site?

I don't have Pro+ yet - the download feature is the only thing so far that intrigues me as I am fancying the idea to make a site on carrd and host it elsewhere (private github and cloudflare) 🤔

I can't find the answer anywhere but how functional would a carrd site be without carrd? I read that form elements would break but I am also curious of the other types of animations or any elements generally

Should I get into the world of ereader / eink?

Currently right now I own a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra smartphone and a Samsung Tab S10. I heavily utilise the TabS10 for mostly drawing but lately I have been using it more for note-taking but its quite distracting — as in it could be the light or the many apps I could irresponsibly open. However, one thing I still use both the devices the most lately been for my Anki flashcards reviews. I am currently trying to focus studying a lot and want to so my usage on both my devices been mainly:

  • Anki flashcard reviews
  • Digital drawing
  • Note-taking in class
  • Reading articles for studies
  • YouTube/movies for entertainment, music player
  • Gaming

I have been seeing BigMe and Xteink recommendations on my YouTube feed lately — on one hand, they quite look "overconsumption slop" from the channels I saw as the devices just look "aesthetic" for reels. But it doesnt mean it couldnt stick my curiosity lately. I do want to focus on my studies very serious so the idea of have an device that keeps me reading (and I suppose for Anki too?) without eyestrains and distraction seem pretty nice — and they seems pretty ok in the pricing too!

I don't buy ebooks, I mostly just buy physical books and read there so I worry if this might be a minus point. I believe Anki is the most I actually use for my studying for a long time so fat my device (as I get about 400~500 cards total a day so the review time can get up to 1.5 hours)

I still very much love my Samsung devices of course, I still love drawing a lot and watching videos; essentials like calling, messenging, etc are still very much required so I doubt getting a Xteink or anything would be a replacement for those I already do on Samsung — still I wonder just what else but reading that I can do with an ereader? I dont expect it to be a super device but I wonder if there are any model/device that can at least allow me to do at least more than half of the list I usual do?

I understand if its not for me! Thanks for reading!

I have questions about starting FSRS

I have been using Anki for a month, as in I just downloaded AnkiDroid onto my phone and Samsung Tab and review 20 cards/day naturally without skipping a day. I never read much guides on optimisation for studying with Anki. I chose Again if I forget, Hard if I took too much time to guess the answer (or just almost similar to the answer), Good if I took some time but confident about the answer, Easy if its easy and instantaneously memorable.

I just recently read it from a comment on another sub about enabling FSRS will be very useful. I unfortunately couldn't understand the FSRS as it seems very complicated 😅 I found how to enable it but I don't understand the parameters and settings. I saw a comment when checking threads here about it and someone mentioned about Again and Easy should be the only buttons used? Why so? Is it also the norm even with non-FSRS studies?

Looking for game recommendations!!

Hi ya! I am quite of a new(?)/casual player to big otome games... Well not quite, I was more so grew up with joseimuke from Heisei era (thinks stuffs like token ranbu, ensemble stars, I-chu, etc) and did dabble a LOT into mobile wait-for-tickets otomes (older games from voltage, cybird, solmare shall we date series, etc... and mystic messenger)

I got into collar x malice like 2 years ago because I LOVED the fanarts from an artist I followed... but never finished it because I was spoiled by said fanart of the big bad guy 😅. Just recently I finished it and am OBSESSED with it. I'd love to look for even more otome games if these non-mobile titles are these powerful!

I am going to travel to japan for work related so I might be able to pick up some physical copies of JP only titles (my eyes are onto un:logical for now). I would love to have recommendations on what to get!

What platforms do you have available?

  • I am not always at home because of work so i prefer handheld consoles (Switch, PSP, PS Vita)! I love playing while going anyway (or kick my legs while in bed LOL). I dont mind PC titles just in case I ever get a steamdeck to play but definitely not a priority just yet

What languages are you ok with?

  • English and Japanese ok 👌

How much do you want to spend, or do you have budget concerns, or do you want to play for free?

  • I don't have any budget concerns but I would avoid any mobile gacha titles (LaDs, Lovebrush, etc) as I completely loathe gambling for contents when I can just buy it directly...
  • I also prefer to be able to get all the routes at once. DLCs for after stories are alright too. If the game is still releasing routes (or on development) then I prefer to wait when all of routes/stories are completed. I like binging without interruptions.

What games have you already played and what did you like and not like about them? (I will put some here)

  • Collar X Malice (not yet touching unlimited but soon): Love the plot so sooo much! I am also a sucker for detective mysteries solving so this is a bonus. I love a lot of the LIs (I love the goofballs like Okazaki >!I love yandere so I was shocked learning he is one, esp since I played blind and got his route first... that being said, he is not my favorite yandere... It just felt a bit lackluster for me with the whole "wolf under sheep's skin" imo so at times i find his S behaviors kinda unnatural (maybe my opinion will change with unlimited) but i very much love the other sweet moments with him and the bad end😭!< and Mineo, Shiraishi was never my type but his route blown me to smithereens 😭💕). Surprisingly I didnt find the tropes too annoying but rather quite endearing? One thing I didnt really like was Yanagi route, I love the plot there a lot but I wasnt able to get convinced on his relationship with Ichika
  • Ikemen Series - Midnight Cinderella: this was my introduction to otome games. Til this day, still my top favorite in term of artstyle. The story was alright, i love it mostly over nostalgia... My fave route was definitely Leo or Louis because of the angst. Byron and Nico were also my favorites because the lore with the other kingdom was interesting. (Its been years so I cant really remember much details here). Alyn was my fave because his route was my first... and his spicy contents were also excellent ☺️
  • Mystic Messenger: I will be honest, I didnt continue the game beyond the launch cast 😅 but I absolutely love the plot and how involved the MC was. Deep routes with 707 and Jumin were absolutely incredible
  • Ensemble Star (! Era): i know this isnt otome but joseimuke but I want to shoutout to the insane story this game had. Complex character like Eichi was my favorite and I am still never recovering from Element (and any ex fine contents)
  • Persona 3 Portable: i have seen many grouped this as otome because of the Femc route. I love Persona series in general and Femc route is just a precious gem to me because of she viewed death and life. (Also Akihiko's and Shinjiro's social links made me kicking legs, Junpei's was so cute and platonic. I feel safe as a girl)
  • Other honorable mentions: Blood In Rose (love the spicy), i7 (plot and I love trigger), FE3H (idk if this counts but I hailed from a Dimitri simp club LOL)

What's more important in the story to you - plot or romance?

  • I like plot but i would love a balance of the two!

What character or plot tropes do you like? What preferences do you have in terms of genre and love interests?

  • I do love yandere... so I don't mind that (so long its not JUST the kind of red flags all for giggles laughs of killing; i want obsessive love and yearning, I want to see the desperation and complexity). Betrayal routes are also lovely to get to! I want to have a reason to delve deeply into a LI's psychie basically. Angst also good to have. Spicy also nice too.
  • I do like it best when the routes even show other LIs in, just to show the worldview and relevancy of the characters.
  • I probably wouldnt mind Fantasy setting but would prefer more modern setting tbh. Historical is ok but I prefer not if the LIs being actual historical figures.
  • School setting is alright if heavy plot... but I am already passed that age so I think i would prefer games with adult cast only if stronger commitment on romance.
  • MCs dont need to be complex but I would love if she has personalities I can care for her with the LIs.

What do you consider value for your time and money? Voice acting, length of game and amount of content, amount or quality or consistency of art, physical copies, language options, after story and bonus content, confidence that you will like most LIs etc

  • Voice-acting is definitely important for immersion (and so I dont have to fall asleep)
  • I only have CxM as my current non-mobile bigger production title so I dont have much opinions on this... I suppose so long the entire games (all routes combined) being just over 36 hours then thats good for me!
  • I love the values to replay just to appreciate what I miss prior to, if it feels fulfilled enough to not feel like "God, this is drought, I miss him..." then thats perfect (if it has sequels then I will eat it all!!). CxM isnt perfect but i feel fulfilled by a lot with it already

Looking for a deck for English used in Logistics/Business/Academics Essays!

Hi there! I recently started using anki for language learning and fall in love with it... so much that I have been trying to drag my friend in 😂

Here the thing, she is not really good in English (at least on survival levels) and due to her studies to obtain a master-then-doctorate-later in her major (something along the line of logistics and business), she would need to read plentiful of essays, articles and sources in English. Those often comes with very difficult English vocabulary so I tend to be there to translate/explain to her instead of having her reaching out to chatGPT for gibberish translations😐

I feel like with Anki system of 20 cards a day might be useful to help her but I am currently stuck on finding which shared deck can be useful... I tried several decks but they were just "phrases"/"saying" that felt like it would only apply in the field and not something that can be used in an essay

If anyone has a recommendation then that will be useful!

Will you send a commission if the artist asked to increase the amount of money 3 times higher ?

I really love this artist's work. Like its gorgeous how they draw NSFW and couples but I am just shocked they asked me to pay x3.2 the recommended amount for my 2 OCs together🥲⁉️ (from 25k to 80k) Majority of their skeb portfolio is nsfw couples too.

Im just mixed on if I want to continue... to me in this day and age, human drawn arts are very precious so I have never decline a resend with increased price yet (30k-40k been fine for me as resend). I have never commissioned NSFW before so im unsure if this price is fair.

I did read from other requesters' boosts that the art PSD includes variations so that is quite neat of a bonus for the clients!

What do you guys think?
