Update: 1986 VT500C

I posted a little over a week ago but I got this bike two weeks ago and just got it fired up for the first time today! I’m happy with the progress I’ve made so far and wanted to update where it’s at.

Did a good wash on the bike so it looks better. Put air filter pods on it cause the stock connector for the airbox is missing, new spark plugs, oil change and filter, fuel tank liner and new battery. I’m waiting for a cheap petcock so I can take the screen off of it and use it but I’m not patient so I gave it shot today and it’s alive!!(kinda)

It starts with the choke on but if I give it any throttle it died, I wasn’t running it with a lot of fuel so that may be a factor but my thought is also that because it’s not the stock air system that the air/fuel is off. I’m going to check the spark plugs next time I work on it to see if I get any information from that but any suggestions or advice would be great. Hopefully she’ll be on the road soon!

1986 VT500

Hi everyone! First time posting cause, well you know, I haven’t had a Honda shadow before.
New (to me) 1986 Honda Shadow VT500

Got this baby off of Facebook marketplace for $300 last week and have been tearing into it the last few days.

Battery is on the way but I tested it with another battery and it cranks. Engine was flooded, fuel tank has some rust and a layer of sediment at the bottom.

Took off and cleaned the carburetors, replaced the spark plugs and did an oil change. This is my second motorcycle but my first Honda and my first project bike.

Hopefully give it a first fuel test next week once the tank is cleaned out and the battery gets here.

Open to any and all feedback or advice and would love some suggestions on where to get parts. I need a petcock rebuild kit, radiator tube and cap and possibly more.

Osprey at Raven Rock

Hi everyone, new to subreddit and somewhat new in Birding. I've always been obsessed with birds of prey and got to see a few Osprey doing some fishing on my weekend hike.

Just got back from Ireland

Just joined the subreddit, wanted to say hi everyone! I’ve always had a love and appreciation for birds of prey and have more recently been seeking out anything I can related to them.
Just spent a week in Ireland and had two awesome experiences.

1 being Ailwee Cave Birds of Prey, a tourist stop but still a great experience, very friendly, healthy birds and educational. They took volunteers to call some of the birds, I was able to do it with their Harris hawk. That changed some of my future plans.

I had read about various hawk walks and ended up making a drive to Ireland’s school of falconry (the oldest falconry school in the world) at Ashford castle for an hour long hawk walk through the forest.

One of (if not the largest) housing of Harris hawks, we spent the first 15-20 minutes walking through and meeting all of their birds. Falcons, hawks and a few owls. Got to meet and hold Dingle, their great horned owl and then Walnut, one of their Harris hawks, a guide and myself walked through the woods hunting and learning more about Walnut and different birds of prey. The guide walked alongside and held the pot with chicken and mice bits and I had the leather glove on the whole time. Easily one of the greatest experiences in my life and hopefully the first of many hunts.

I’m doing more reading and research about my local falconry guild.

Sorry for the long story just SO excited to share this.
