Logic Pro 12.2 - Usability and UI Interaction
Hi everyone,
I’ve recently started working with Logic Pro and I’m struggling a bit with the overall usability and workflow.
To me, the interaction design feels rather unnatural. I know this is kind of intentional with Apple software — similar to Final Cut Pro — where Apple tends to enforce its own workflow, input behavior, and UI philosophy.
In macOS, I already changed my mouse wheel behavior to “normal”:
- scroll up = content goes up
- scroll down = content goes down
But inside Logic, everything still behaves in the Apple “natural scrolling” style:
- scrolling up moves things down
- scrolling down moves things up
- even middle mouse panning left/right feels reversed
Another thing:
I would really like tracks to automatically enlarge when selected. I found some kind of workaround, but it feels hidden away and fiddly via the track header controls in the top-right corner.
So my questions are:
- Are there any settings, hidden tweaks, or workflow tips that make Logic feel more natural and responsive?
- Is there any third-party software that improves the UI/UX experience in Logic?
- Maybe tools for mouse behavior, navigation, zooming, track handling, or general responsiveness?
For Ableton Live there used to be some nice helper tools and workflow enhancements, and I’m wondering if something similar exists for Logic.
I’d really like the Logic UI to feel a bit more reactive and less “floaty” / typical Apple-style.
Would appreciate any recommendations or setup ideas.
