Has Anyone Experienced Brain Fog, Trouble Finding Words, or Difficulty Expressing Themselves From Blood Pressure Medication?

I’m wondering if anyone taking blood pressure or heart medications has experienced changes in their ability to think, speak, write, or express themselves.

Recently, I’ve noticed that sometimes my mind goes completely blank. I can know what I want to say, but when I try to explain it, I have trouble finding the right words or putting my thoughts together. Sometimes when I’m speaking, I feel like I have nothing in my head even though I know what I’m trying to communicate.

I’ve also noticed that sometimes writing is more difficult. I may know what I want to write, but it takes me longer to organize my thoughts or express them clearly.

Has anyone experienced brain fog, a blank mind, difficulty finding words, trouble speaking, difficulty writing, or feeling like it's harder to express yourself after starting a blood pressure or heart medication?

If so:

  • Which medication were you taking?
  • What dose?
  • How long had you been taking it before you noticed the symptoms?
  • Did the symptoms come on suddenly or gradually?
  • Did you also experience fatigue, anxiety, depression, dizziness, or memory problems?
  • Did your symptoms improve after switching medications or changing the dose?
  • If you switched medications, which one did you switch from and to?
  • How long did it take before you noticed an improvement?

Blood Pressure Medications and Sexual Side Effects — Has Anyone Experienced This?

I’ve been taking metoprolol and losartan for my blood pressure, and I’ve started noticing some changes in my sexual function. I’m having more difficulty getting or maintaining an erection, and sometimes I feel like I’m having ejaculation symptoms before I’m fully erect. I’ve also noticed that my penis sometimes seems smaller or more contracted than usual.

I’ve also experienced a lower sex drive, and I’m wondering whether these symptoms could be related to my blood pressure medication or another medication I’m taking.

I exercise and work out regularly, so I’m trying to stay as healthy as possible. I would like to understand whether certain blood pressure medications are more likely to cause sexual side effects and whether some people have fewer problems with different medications.

Has anyone else experienced this while taking blood pressure medication?

  • What medication were you taking?
  • Did it affect your erections, ejaculation, penis size/appearance, or sex drive?
  • Did switching to a different medication help?
  • Were there any blood pressure medications that caused fewer sexual side effects for you?
  • Did your doctor recommend any other treatment that helped?
  • How long did it take for your sexual function to improve after changing treatment?

I’m interested in hearing about all types of blood pressure medications and people’s experiences with them, not just one specific medication. I’ll discuss any possible medication changes with my doctor rather than stopping anything on my own.

Mechanical heart valve + blood thinners — anyone make it through NYPD medical?

I’m interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement and was hoping to hear from anyone with personal experience with the NYPD hiring/medical process.

I have a mechanical heart valve and take a blood thinner (anticoagulant) as well as blood-pressure medication. I’m wondering if anyone here has had a similar medical situation and was still able to make it through the NYPD medical/psychological hiring process and become an officer.

I’m not looking for medical advice, I’m mainly trying to find out whether anyone with a similar condition or medications has successfully gotten through the process.

If you have been in a similar situation, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience. Also, if NYPD was not an option, do you know of any other law-enforcement department, government agency, or related career where someone with a medical history like this has successfully been hired?

I understand every case is evaluated individually, but I’d really appreciate hearing from people who have actually gone through the process. Thanks.

Christian Men & Women: I Need Honest Advice About Marriage, Sexual Struggles, and Doing the Right Thing

Christian Men & Women: I Need Honest Advice

I'm looking for honest advice from both Christian men and women.

Before I was baptized, I had a sexual relationship. During those experiences, I realized I struggled with premature ejaculation. That was a long time ago, and since becoming a Christian, I've remained committed to honoring God and saving sex for marriage.

Now I'm hoping to get married one day, but this still worries me. I want to do everything I can to improve it through appropriate medical treatment and counseling if needed because I don't want my future wife to feel sexually unfulfilled.

One question I've been wrestling with is this: since sexual treatments can only really be evaluated during sex, is it better to wait until marriage and work through the trial-and-error together, or should someone try to resolve the problem before marriage, even if that meant having a casual sexual relationship to determine which treatments actually work?

I'd really appreciate your thoughts.

For Christian women:

  • Would a man being honest about this make you respect him more or less?
  • Would this be a dealbreaker?
  • At what point in the relationship would you want him to tell you?
  • Would you rather work through this together after marriage?
  • If a man had a casual sexual relationship before meeting you because he was trying to resolve this medical issue, would that change how you viewed him? Why or why not?

For Christian men:

  • If you've dealt with something similar, what helped?
  • How did you approach the conversation with your wife or future wife?
  • Looking back, is there anything you would have done differently?
  • If you were in my position, would you wait until marriage to address this, or would you try to resolve it beforehand? Why?

Thank you to everyone willing to share your perspective. I'm genuinely trying to honor God while also being the best husband I can be.
