MFP is the #1 Battery Drain - What is Going On?

On Android 16, very recently the background drain has been insane, it's the number 1 app on my phone for draining battery, despite already being restricted. For comparison WhatsApp shows 10h in background and 1 mAh drained, MFP is draining at 300x the rate of WhatsApp!

Have reported to MFP and didn't receive a reply, added a Play Store review and it was just a replied to with generic answer about checking their support pages.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Is the Find X9 Ultra Optimised for Social Media?

I have just picked up the Oppo Find X9 Ultra and have seen a lot of questions about whether it is good for social media and if the cameras are optimised and work well for Instagram Stories and TikTok.

As I still have my Pixel 10 Pro XL I went and compared the two.

All photos and videos are shot with Instagram stories in-app camera and then saved to the phone, I have included some TikTok examples, but TikTok is so bad that I would never recommend using the in-app camera unfortunately.

All lenses are supported on the Find X9 Ultra inside Instagram, and Camera2 Probe shows 'Level_3' support for the front + back cameras. CameraX info reports Bokeh and Night extension support on the rear, and Night extension support on the front camera.

Pixel 10 Pro only shows 'Full' support for its cameras when checking with Camera2 Probe.

Photos in the carousel:

  1. Pixel is probably too 'dull' and flat, I think most people would prefer Oppo
  2. Pixel does a better job with dynamic range, check the clouds on the Oppo
  3. Quite similar results, both are fine, Pixel slightly better dynamic range
  4. Pixel brightens the shadows more, but introduces horrible artefacts on the road. Probably a tie depending on your preference.
  5. Pixel manages the dynamic range better
  6. Oppo has more detail at max zoom but Pixel lets you zoom in further...
  7. Neither does a great job, Pixel white balance is off and Oppo dynamic range is weak
  8. Both look good, Pixel once again flattens the image, while Oppo has more contrast. Pixel probably more 'sunset' like in look
  9. Pixel has better management of shadows and highlights
  10. Pixel is brighter and better.
  11. Comparison of Oppo Instagram vs TikTok, look how much worse TikTok is...

Videos - note that the quality is lower than actual as I used Canva to do the side by side which reduced the resolution:

  1. IG Stories Walking Stabilisation Comparison: https://storage.to/sgL5VzfUd, Pixel is better
  2. IG Stories Walking Stabilisation at Night Comparison: https://storage.to/BqhBh8C1a, Oppo is better at night
  3. IG Stories Zoom Comparison: https://storage.to/9euz3pB3x, neither are that amazing, the lens switching is very noticable
  4. IG Stories Sunset Comparison: https://storage.to/pt2Vny5FY, Pixel is more pleasing I would say
  5. IG Stories Night Comparison: https://storage.to/QCxtm3ccG, no contest, Oppo wins easily, Pixel is using much too long of a shutter speed
  6. IG Stories Night Sight Processing Time Comparison: https://storage.to/ykGL4IPUx, Oppo wins on speed, Pixel wins on brightness of final image
  7. TikTok Walking Stabilisation Comparison: https://storage.to/tHBU9hVtI, both terrible, Oppo slightly better though I would say
  8. TikTok Zoom Comparison: https://storage.to/DromnIC20, both are Ok, but don't use the TT in-app camera, it's so bad vs the native cameras

Overall Winner: Pixel for me, it is really bad in certain situations at night, but I think it's the 'safer' option for most scenarios.

Google has clearly done work to make sure the camera looks better inside Instagram. The dynamic range is better (though it causes issues with lifted shadows sometimes), the low light photography is better (even though night sight takes longer) and the stabilisation is better. The Oppo is better for night videos because it doesn't need such long shutter time and it has better zoom due to the 10x lens. Google is pushing their sensors to the maximum which works well but does fall apart in certain situations.

I hope Oppo can improve things further with updates and hopefully this is helpful for people considering an Oppo who are unsure about social media camera quality.

Oppo Find X9 Ultra (Global - UK) running Android 16 Build CPH2841_16.0.6.304(EX01) and Instagram 438.0.0.28.88

Is Oppo.com/UK Legit?

I tried to purchase a Find X9 Ultra from the site which is the new UK store (according to this post https://www.reddit.com/r/Oppo/comments/1upqq7v/oppo\_store\_europe\_has\_moved\_to\_oppocom/) however it was flagged as fraud by my bank.

Could someone clarify if the site is indeed the correct one?

The company operating the site is Unumplus Limited in London who are the same as listed on https://www.oneplus.com/uk/legal/privacy-policy-store, hence my belief it is authentic
