Your plan for the Osmo Pocket 4 Pro in 2026 - Result

Your plan for the Osmo Pocket 4 Pro in 2026 - Result

Osmo Pocket 4 Pro upgrade behaviour, regional patterns and migration trends

Now that the poll has closed with 472 votes, we can look at the upgrade behaviour in a more technical way. The OP4 Pro poll produced a very different pattern compared to the OP4 poll, and the geo data makes it possible to see whether the behaviour was regional or global. The short version is that OP3 owners showed the highest upgrade rate everywhere, and the pattern was consistent across almost all countries.

Below is a breakdown of the migration behaviour, the regional variation and the stability of the undecided group.

  1. Global upgrade behaviour

The largest single group in the entire poll was OP3 owners selling their OP3 and upgrading to the OP4 Pro. This group accounted for 18 percent of all votes. Another 13 percent said they would keep their OP3 and add an OP4 Pro. Combined, 31 percent of OP3 owners are moving in some way.

OP4 owners showed a different pattern. Only 2 percent said they would sell their OP4 and upgrade. Another 2 percent said they would keep their OP4 and add an OP4 Pro. Most OP4 owners either skipped the OP4 Pro or are waiting for more information.

  1. Skip behaviour

27.7 percent said they are staying on the OP3 and skipping the OP4 Pro.
10.9 percent said they are staying on the OP4 and skipping it.
This puts the total skip rate at 38.6 percent.

This is still a large group, but it is no longer the dominant behaviour like it was in the OP4 poll.

  1. Undecided and waiting behaviour

5.1 percent said they need more sample footage.
16.2 percent said they are waiting for real world reviews.
Combined, this is 21.3 percent.

This is almost identical to the hesitation rate in previous polls. The community consistently keeps a quarter of voters in a wait and see state.

  1. OP3 migration matrix

Sell OP3 and upgrade: 83
Keep OP3 and add: 62
Stay on OP3 and skip: 130

This produces the following OP3 behaviour rates:

Upgrade: 18 percent
Add: 13.2 percent
Skip: 27.7 percent

The remaining OP3 voters fall into undecided or waiting categories.

  1. OP4 migration matrix

Sell OP4 and upgrade: 9
Keep OP4 and add: 10
Stay on OP4 and skip: 51

This produces the following OP4 behaviour rates:

Upgrade: 1.9 percent
Add: 2.1 percent
Skip: 10.9 percent

OP4 owners are far less likely to replace their camera. Most either skip or add.

  1. Regional consistency

The geo data shows that the behaviour is stable across regions. The United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Australia, the Netherlands and Poland all show the same pattern:

OP3 upgrade is strong.
OP3 skip is strong.
OP3 add is moderate.
OP4 upgrade is low.
OP4 add is low.
OP4 skip is moderate.

No major region breaks this pattern.

Examples from the dataset:

United States: OP3 upgrade 20, OP3 add 30, OP3 skip 43
United Kingdom: OP3 upgrade 7, OP3 add 7, OP3 skip 17
Canada: OP3 upgrade 5, OP3 add 6, OP3 skip 11
Germany: OP3 upgrade 4, OP3 add 1, OP3 skip 4
Australia: OP3 upgrade 4, OP3 add 2, OP3 skip 3
Netherlands: OP3 upgrade 1, OP3 add 2, OP3 skip 9
Poland: OP3 upgrade 4, OP3 add 1, OP3 skip 2

The pattern is consistent across all of them.

  1. Outlier countries

Some countries show extreme behaviour due to low sample sizes. These are statistical noise rather than meaningful trends.

Sweden: 3 votes, all 3 OP3 upgrades
Peru: 2 votes, both OP3 upgrades
Antarctica: 1 vote, OP3 upgrade

These do not affect the global pattern.

  1. Interpretation

The OP4 Pro is the first model since the OP3 that produced a noticeable shift in OP3 owner behaviour. The upgrade rate is significantly higher than in the OP4 poll, and the pattern is global rather than regional. OP4 owners remain stable and are more likely to skip or add than to replace.

The undecided and waiting group remains stable across polls, suggesting that a consistent portion of the community prefers to wait for real-world data before making a decision.

  1. Summary

The OP3 crowd showed the highest upgrade rate.
The OP4 crowd showed the lowest upgrade rate.
Skip behaviour remains high but is no longer dominant.
Undecided behaviour remains stable.
Regional variation is minimal.
Outliers are due to small sample sizes.

This poll shows a clear and measurable shift in upgrade behaviour compared to the OP4 poll, and the geo data confirms that the trend is global.

Thanks to everyone who participated. Having both the raw numbers and the regional data makes it a lot easier to understand how the community actually behaves when new hardware lands.

The poll that made these numbers and statistics.

^(A final disclosure: Yes, AI was used to calculate the statistics and format the post, but the wording and structure are mine.)

Pocket 4 Pro D‑Log2 shows off the full 17‑stop range

Here’s a clip of the Osmo Pocket 4 Pro shooting in the new D‑Log2 profile. The footage shows how much usable latitude the 17‑stop pipeline actually delivers in real scenes. Highlight roll‑off stays smooth, sky detail holds, and the shadows keep structure without chroma noise creeping in. The midtones also have enough separation that you can push the grade hard without the image falling apart.

Can’t wait to get my hands on this camera.

Let’s hear your thoughts. Does this look useful to you as a creator or a hobbyist? Would you invest in it for the kind of dynamic range this camera is offering?

Spotted: Pocket 4 Pro - Product Introduction Video - Chinese socials

Looks like the Pocket 4 Pro has started showing up on Chinese socials.

u/NefariousnessJaded87 — 8 days ago

New Vision. New Legends.

Nothing is revealed, at least not to us yet. Alongside the world-renowned visual storytellers, witness Osmo Pocket 4P redefine portable cinema in Cannes.

We are waiting for the reveal. https://www.instagram.com/p/DYR-2Vvmazj/

Well, time has passed, and there are no updates on any of the official sites...sub DJI?

Official channels:

https://www.youtube.com/@osmo_global/videos
https://www.youtube.com/@DJI/videos
https://store.dji.com/bg
https://www.tiktok.com/@osmo_global
https://www.instagram.com/djiglobal/

Nothing...

Sadly, we can't witness it.

Looks like DJI is keeping this one local. They teased it on global socials, but the actual event isn’t being shared anywhere yet. Kinda disappointing since most of us can’t show up in person.

Hopefully, they drop some clips or info after it’s over, but for now, we’re all just waiting.

Update: Fireif posted a press release here (Thanks)

TLDR:

DJI didn’t actually launch anything. They just did a Cannes preview with zero real details. The press release is pure marketing fluff with no specs, no price, no date. It’s not a release, just a hype event. Real info comes later, probably next month. The only useful stuff right now is from the early‑access Instagram clips.

Pocket 4 Pro leaks are getting spicy, so… what are we expecting?

With Cannes coming up on the 14th, the leaks around the Pocket 4 Pro are starting to look a lot more consistent. Nothing confirmed, obviously, but the rumour mill is pointing in a pretty clear direction. The big one right now is the dual‑camera setup - supposedly a 1‑inch main sensor plus a 3x telephoto, which would be a first for the Pocket line. There are also whispers about 6K60, better dynamic range, faster storage, and Wi‑Fi 6.

Curious what everyone else thinks. Are these leaks believable, or are we getting carried away before Cannes?

Here is what is expected so far:

Dual‑camera setup
Main 1‑inch sensor + 3x telephoto lens (rumour from multiple leak sources)

1‑inch 50MP OmniVision sensor
Same family as the standard Pocket 4, but supposedly tuned differently

Dynamic range
Pro leaks claim up to ~17 stops (big grain of salt)

Video modes
6K 60fps
4K 240fps slow‑mo

Colour profiles
10‑bit, D‑Log or D‑Log 2

Storage and transfer
107GB internal storage
~800MB/s transfer speeds
Wi‑Fi 6

ActiveTrack 7.0

Body and design
Slightly larger camera housing to fit the dual‑lens module
Same general Pocket form factor

Launch timing
Expected reveal at Cannes on the 14th

If even half of that is real, the Pro model is going to be a pretty big jump from the standard Pocket 4.

If you have more leaks or specs, drop them in the comments. And please keep the mods sane, do not spam the sub.

Edit: Some small mistakes in the text.

Possible remote control function for Pocket 4 Pro spotted?

Saw this clip on Instagram today, and it looks like the Mobile 8P gimbal might actually be able to control the Osmo Pocket 4 Pro remotely.

If that’s what is happening here, it’s pretty interesting since DJI hasn’t said anything about cross-device control like this. (Where can we buy that display separately?)

Could be nothing, it could be a hint of upcoming integration, but it definitely caught my eye.
Curious if anyone else has seen this or knows more about what is going on in the video.

Quick request: No more Pocket 4 box posts

Friendly reminder to keep the sub useful. We have all seen the Osmo Pocket 4 box by now. At this point, new box posts don’t add anything.

What we actually want to see is what people are creating with the camera. Footage, tests, comparisons, experiments, anything that shows what the Pocket 4 can do.

If people keep posting box photos, we will have to add it to the overdone rule category. So please focus on content, not packaging.

Thanks for considering.

So Canon is apparently still poking at this gimbal camera idea, and the new patent actually looks way more grounded than their old sci-fi interchangeable lens gimbal brick. This one is basically a compact three-axis setup with a fixed lens, a folding mechanism, and a whole bunch of logic around how the camera behaves when you stop recording. The interesting part is the power management; it keeps the gimbal locked until it knows you’ve actually put it away instead of just killing the motors and letting everything flop around.

They’re clearly trying to solve real-world usability stuff instead of chasing wild hardware. The patent also mentions detecting when the camera is no longer in use by checking motor resistance, button input, image changes, and even magnetic sensors in a case. So Canon is definitely thinking about a proper pocket-style device, not just a concept sketch.

Posting the first pic here, curious if anyone thinks this could actually be a competitor or if it’s just another Canon patent that never becomes a product.

Share your thoughts.

u/NefariousnessJaded87 — 21 days ago

Our friends @ r/XtraCameras have asked me to pass on this knowledge write-up for r/osmopocket and its users.

When shopping for a vlogging camera, it’s easy to get caught up in zoom numbers. One brand says 3.9x, another says 6x, and another highlights lossless zoom. On paper, it can feel like everyone is competing to show the biggest number. But in practice, the story is more nuanced. The truth is: most compact vlogging cameras today offer fairly similar zoom capabilities at their core. The real difference is often how brands describe it, not necessarily a dramatic gap in real-world usability. So what should consumers actually know?

  1. Not every “zoom range” is true optical zoom Take the example of Insta360 Luna, which promotes: 1x at an 18–20mm equivalent focal length 3.9x at a 70mm equivalent focal length From a camera perspective, these are better understood as two fixed focal lengths, or close to a dual-focal-length setup, rather than a continuously zooming optical lens. That means the transitions from: 1x to 3.9x and from 3.9x to 6x are not true optical zoom in the traditional sense. Instead, the image is largely being extended through cropping, sensor readout, and computational imaging. In other words, the camera may give you multiple zoom “steps,” but that doesn’t mean there is a lens physically and continuously zooming across the full range.
  2. “Lossless zoom” does not mean the same thing as optical zoom This is one of the most important things for consumers to understand. When brands say lossless zoom, they usually do not mean traditional optical zoom. More often, they mean the camera is using a combination of: sensor crop high-resolution capture image processing algorithmic enhancement to preserve good image quality at certain zoom levels. That can absolutely be useful. In fact, lossless zoom can look very good in many everyday scenarios. But technically, it is still different from an optical lens changing focal length in a true physical sense. So if you see “lossless zoom,” the right way to interpret it is: You may still get strong image quality at that zoom level — but it’s not the same thing as continuous optical zoom.
  3. Product design often determines how “zoom” is marketed For example, DJI Osmo Pocket 4 already supports 2x lossless zoom, which makes sense given its sensor and positioning. If a future Osmo Pocket 4 Pro adds a mid-telephoto or longer focal length module, it would naturally be able to support higher lossless zoom ratios as part of that product design. That doesn’t necessarily mean it suddenly becomes a completely different class of optical zoom camera. It means the product is combining: a stronger native focal-length base sensor crop flexibility computational optimization to offer more usable zoom steps. This is increasingly common in compact creator cameras. Brands are designing products around practical creator needs, not necessarily around traditional interchangeable-lens camera logic.

So what should consumers focus on instead of just zoom numbers? Rather than asking only “Which one has the biggest zoom number?”, consumers should look at a few more practical questions:

  1. What is the camera’s native focal length setup? Does it have: one wide lens only? a wide lens plus a medium telephoto option? or multiple optical perspectives? This tells you much more than a marketing number alone.
  2. At which zoom points is image quality actually strong? A camera may advertise several zoom levels, but the most important question is: Which focal lengths still look clean, sharp, and usable in real-world shooting? That matters more than the maximum number on the box.
  3. How smooth is the experience for actual vlogging? For creators, zoom is not just about reach. It’s about usability. Things like: stabilization autofocus performance face tracking low-light quality audio workflow pocketability often matter more in daily use than whether a product says 4x, 5x, or 6x.
  4. Does the camera match your content style? Different creators need different things. Travel vloggers may care more about wide angle, portability, and stabilization Family creators may want quick framing and ease of use Pet creators may care more about tracking and reliable focus Filmmakers / BTS users may value flexibility in framing and motion control For many users, the best zoom system is not the one with the biggest number — it’s the one that fits their actual shooting habits.

The bottom line In today’s vlogging camera market, zoom marketing can be confusing. Different brands often use different language, but the underlying capabilities are often closer than they appear. A few key takeaways: Bigger zoom numbers do not always mean better real optical zoom Lossless zoom is useful, but it is not the same as optical zoom Many “zoom ranges” in compact cameras are still heavily supported by crop and algorithms For most consumers, overall shooting experience matters more than headline zoom So before comparing which camera has the “bigger” zoom claim, it’s worth asking a simpler question: Which camera helps you shoot better, faster, and more confidently in the moments you actually care about? That’s usually the better buying decision.

Meet the DJI Mic Mini 2, a pocketable wireless kit that brings pro audio to every shoot. Two ultra light transmitters clip on easily and stay out of the way while delivering clear, sync ready sound. The compact receiver plugs straight into your camera or phone and pairs in seconds, so you spend less time on setup and more time telling the story.

Designed for creators on the move, the Mic Mini 2 captures two independent channels for interviews and dual host setups, and its long runtime keeps you recording through a full day of shooting. Setup is intuitive, the controls are straightforward, and the result is cleaner dialogue, fewer retakes, and a more professional final cut.

Pair it with your Osmo Pocket for noticeably better voice capture and a smoother workflow. Ready to upgrade your sound?

The Mic Mini 2 is an incremental, creator-focused update to the original Mic Mini with faster charging, selectable voice tone presets, and cosmetic customisation via magnetic covers; it keeps the same ultra small form and portability while adding a few workflow improvements.

What changed, in plain terms:

Mic Mini 2 keeps the original Mini strengths: extreme portability and simple clip-on use. The main upgrades are voice tone presets for quick tonal adjustments, faster transmitter charging, and magnetic faceplates for visual customisation. These are practical refinements rather than a full redesign.

How to choose between them

- Choose the original Mic Mini if you want the smallest, proven kit, and price is the priority.

- Choose the Mic Mini 2 if you value on-device tone control, faster turnaround between charges, or the new mobile charging case and colourful covers.

Key considerations and decision points

- Audio needs: Neither Mini supports an external lav input like DJI Mic 2, so both are best for speech and vlogging, not complex multi-mic setups.

- Workflow: If you often shoot long days and need quicker recharge cycles, Mic Mini 2’s faster charging is useful.

- Ecosystem: If you already use Osmo Pocket or other DJI devices, both integrate well; Mic Mini 2 adds small conveniences that speed setup.

Limitations and risks

- Not a pro replacement: Neither Mini is a full professional rig; they trade advanced features for size.

- No headphone monitoring on the Mini line, so live monitoring is limited compared with higher-end systems.

- Compatibility checks: Confirm the exact bundle you buy includes the receiver adapter you need for your camera or phone.
