demand planning and strategic sourcing

As I have been in my job search, a lot of the roles that I have been applying to and hearing back from have been demand/material planning and strategic sourcing roles. coming from being an entry level procurement analyst role, for anyone who is in either of these two, how do you like it? what do you dislike? what has helped you?

contract vs permanent?

so I was recently laid off and have been in the job market for a little over a week now. i am receiving a severance until october as well, if that helps give a little background. a lot of recruiters have been reaching out to me with contract roles which I truly appreciate it. most of them are no benefits whatsoever and claim to have the potential to move permanent but not guaranteed. I have one offer right now for a contract role and receiving call backs from the permanent roles I have applied to. I want to wait it out a bit to at least hear back/ potentially secure a permanent role.

what are your thoughts on contract role’s with no benefits? should I hold off and wait for a permanent role?

Different supply chain sectors

(25M) I currently have my masters degree in supply chain management. I started off entry level as a customer supply chain analyst for a CPG and then 7 months later, transitioned to procurement analyst. I enjoyed procurement and currently looking for some buyer roles. wondering what are some other directions I could go with my experience or what roles people in this group are in to get a feel for what I may like

for more background I graduated in may of 2024 so just under 2 years working corporate. and my former job is reimbursing me to finish my mba this fall

Procurement Analyst

I recently got let go from my role as a procurement analyst at a fortune500 company

I was doing that role as well as a bit of buyer work with small spend (around $20 million)

I have been interested in fully immersing into the role as a buyer as I feel like i’d be better dealing with vendors versus at my desk on excel all day. I have some experience with SAP, vendor communications , RFP, e auctions and working with material planners. Not the best with contracts/ negotiations yet so that worries me a little bit. any tips to navigate the procurement world?

also, what other aspects of supply chain could I go into other than procurement?

career guidance

I am 25 year old living in Tri state area working in the Supply Chain industry.

I was laid off this past monday from my procurement analyst role which was kind of a blindside. I was upset about it for a minute but then realized could always be worse and always had the “so what, now what?” mentality so can’t be dwelling on it too much. Currently still living with my parents , severance for the next few months and old job is still honoring my MBA tuitionn reimbursement for the fall semester (only have 4 classes left). I currently have my Masters in supply chain management and going to try and apply / reach out for different roles within the supply chain world

Any advice or guidance for anyone who has gotten laid off early in their careers? should I be worried?

hair texture

i’m about 8 months into my transplant , I was wondering at around what month did the transplant hairs start to match texture of the native hairs? I feel as if my transplanted hairs are not curly/coils like my other hairs (4c hair type). does that texture / thickness ever come in?

I am around 180-190 pounds so I would say heavier side and I realized that my new balance 1080v14s have started to lose their “pop”. when I first tried them on I loved how soft and cushiony the foam was and figured would be good running in them. they were for the first 150ish miles but noticed that my knees and achilles started to ache. I do not notice this pain in my adidas evo sls and recently purchased nike vomero plus which i heard is considered a max cushion but firmer than the 1080s in my opinion.

I am just wondering if me being on the heavier side, are soft max cushion shoes not the best for heavy runners? what’s the “science” or logic behind that? are heavier runners compressing the foams faster?
