Coaxed into Speedruns

This route will be outdated in less than a day after a streamer named Peeble McGeeble finds the Coaxsnaf Exploit which shaves 2 minutes off the total time, making half of the discoveries and time saves completely irrelevant.

Coaxed into Lightning Rod Anger

You ever get angry and someone else just gets so much angrier than you that you just somehow don't feel angry anymore.

That's what this is trying to convey.

How some of "those" arguments feel

Look, I like these debates as much as the next guy.

But some of y'all need to remember that both Maelle and Verso are being completely unreasonable.

Just because a game presents you with two options, does not mean one of them is better than the other. Because both involve a betrayal of trust. Maelle forcing Verso to live despite his wishes, and Verso forcing Alicia to live against her wishes.

Lumiere and Alicia could live without fear of death if proper communication and trust was placed in everyone. But because Maelle can't trust Renoir to not erase the canvas, she will never leave. Because Verso can't trust Alicia to leave before she dies, he must stop his soul from painting.

Neither option is good. And the best ending will forever lay out of reach. To claim one ending is better is to fall for the same trap that Maelle and Verso fell into, that Renoir and Aline fell into. That there is no middle ground to be reached, when they have all systematically burned the bridge that middle ground laid on.

(and I swear to god if one of you try to say "Well Verso tried to commit genocide so he is satan and evil and Maelle is simply protecting Lumiere from the eeeevil supervillain!" I'm going to SLAP you.)

Sword of Damocles

This may not be the best word for it, but I think it's fitting. A looming, ever-present element that is seen throughout the entire adventure, constantly reminding the heroes of their goal, and what will happen should they fail.

The Void - Super Paper Mario. Count Bleck seeks to eradicate all worlds using the Dark Prognosticus, and is slowly empowering a black hole to consume every world. This black hole, and the threat Count Bleck presents, constantly grows in size and prominence as Mario continues to collect Pure Hearts, showing how down to the wire this is coming.

The Monolith - Expedition 33. The Paintress, the one responsible for the Gommage, sits before the Monolith on the other side of the Continent, painting a countdown to how many years are left for the Expeditions to stop her before all humans cease to exist forever. It began as late as 100 (or higher, depending on when the first Expedition was sent out), and have fallen all the way down to 33.

The World Tree - Palworld. A great calamity is brewing within the World Tree of Palapagos, and it's up to the player character to tame pals, defeat tower bosses for their key spheres, and enter the World Tree to stop whatever is causing the world to fall into turmoil.

Chapter 6 (Hypothetical) Opening

Kris having the leave for longer hours at night, might risk them coming home late one day, and just so happens to be the day Susie and Noelle decided to walk them to school. Susie, being the abrasive type, would want to greet Kris in bed, waking them up, only to find that Kris is completely missing. And then they find Kris is missing something, too.

Granted, I don't think this alone would lead to as big a blow-up as people would expect. Strong concern, obviously, and much more distrust put into Kris, and it might be the catalyst which leads to a stronger reaction later, but. An opening like this feels like it would be just perfect.

LEGENDARY Crashouts

Bonus points for if the character is COMPLETELY justified in their frustration (Not implying all of these examples are, just that it's better when it is.)

Caine (The Amazing Digital Circus) "HUMANS. They only think about themselves, they're SPOILED!"

In the penultimate episode of the Amazing Digital Circus, Caine completely loses it and torments the circus after he realizes his attempts to make them happy have all failed, believing them to be completely ungrateful, this rant basically showing he wants to prove that he's better, he's ABOVE them, and he doesn't need to improve or change, because he's already perfect. It's clearly THEM who are wrong.

Frank Grimes (The Simpsons) "I'm better than okay. I'm Homer Simpson!"

This whole episode is of the Simpsons (Homer's Enemy) is one long crashout of a normal guy reacting to Homer Simpson essentially sleeping his way to the top. He has a wonderful family, a big house, three kids, "LOBSTER for dinner!" all the while he seems like the last person in the WORLD who deserves such luxury. Meanwhile Frank Grimes had to work tirelessly just to be BRIEFLY acknowledged in a documentary, and immediately outclassed by this bumbling buffoon of a security inspector.

Woody (Toy Story) "YOU! ARE! A! TOOOOOOOY!"

Probably the most iconic crashout in this entire list, basically Woody just finally losing his shit at Buzz for his delusions and trying to get it through his head that he isn't the REAL Buzz Lightyear, but of course, Buzz just simply does not believe him. Still leads to a really amazing crashout though.

Markiplier (Real Life) "DON'T YOU MAKE TOYS? WHY DO YOU HAVE ELECTRO-SHOCK SHOWERS???"

I could mention the rant he goes on at the end of the video, but honestly, this felt like the point where Mark completely lost all good faith he had in Poppy Playtime. Even he doesn't know why this moment in particular was his breaking point, but it did send him completely over the edge and makes him give up on the series entirely.
