How good is the screen writing course in FTII?

Hi folks! 👋

I'm a 2nd year BA student at Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce and recently I got interested in screen writing so I was looking into some future opportunities for it.

My uncle recommended that I should apply for FTII after my graduation since story writing is already my passion and is the career path I've chosen for myself. And I might end up applying for it one day. But that's for the future. Still have like 2 years left before graduation. 💀

Anyways, my question is, how good are the facilities there? Is it worth applying for? The things that they'll be teaching, is it helpful or just things one can learn on their own?

If you have the time, then pls help a brother out with his queries. 🙏

(Discovered screen writing at the start of this year, then started learning on my own from June. June, July, August. About 2 and a half month of learning and practicing screen writing on my own.)

Character on spotlight 🤔 Or like, the Character's perception of the moment

In this scene, I'm thinking of putting the character on the spotlight while he quietly listens to the whispers of others around him and continues his walk.

[Not exactly put on the spotlight per say, but like what the character is feeling like at the moment. His perception of things. If you get what I mean.]

Just swipe to the next image to understand what I'm trying to say.

And tell me your thoughts on how you would do it. 🙏

Opening Feedback

It's been about 2 months since I started learning about this craft. And yesterday, I managed to hit the 10 page mark. 🥳 Not a big milestone, but still a cause of celebration for me.

My story's far from being done, but the opening is here now atleast. So I wanted some opinion on if the opening hooks you, bores you, or whatever it is you feel.

(The opening's supposed to be patient. Not too fast, not too slow, just enough so people can build a bond with the characters.)

Am I doing it right?

This is my first time writing a script so I wanted to know if I'm doing it right.

I've watched a few videos online, read like one article to understand the elements of a script, and that's it.

I know most would advise me to read the published scripts online, but I like the process of discovering things on my own. So, after understanding the elements a bit, and also the format, I started writing.

Trial and error method.

Before this, for the last two years, I had been focused on novel writing so I'm very much used to being descriptive and all, which is like the opposite of a script. But I feel I've been doing an okay job.

Honestly, I wanted to finish like the first act and add up on the pages to get more clear feedback, but my friend said that before I continue to write, I should get feedback on if I'm doing it right. So "I don't waste my time doing something wrong." (His opinion. I personally like doing something wrong so I know where I went wrong and won't repeat it again.)

So, anyways, it all returns to if I'm doing it right. Can y'all who are experienced with this stuff tell me your opinion?
