The $145 Birkin 40 that I ordered from DH Gate is here!!!

I'm fairly certain it's actual leather, the stitching looks good, the structure looks good. Someone with more knowledge of Birkin reps may have better insight.

It was shipped in a poly bag, and was probably crushed a bit, so I need to stuff it with some towels or a pillow to push those dimples out, but considering it was in a poly bag for two weeks between China and Louisiana, and that the poly bag arrived torn, it's in great condition and looks like the shape will likely hold up well.

There is a scuff on the bottom corner, I haven't tried to clean that yet, but it's likely from the hole in the packaging.

Size: it looks smaller than I thought it would, but I've also never so much as seen a Birkin in person before. The photo of me holding it matches the forced perspective of other photos I've seen of men holding Birkin 40s. I cannot imagine having gotten a smaller size for myself.

The obvious giveaway to me is the key and lock and clochet.

The key is the small skeleton key style that most reps come with, and the leather strap(?) on the clochet doesn't have the same detail that the real ones have.

Realistically you'd have to be looking pretty close to notice that though.

They were sold out of the gold leather with palladium hardware that I wanted, so I chose to get it with gold hardware instead

It shipped with an Hermès dust bag (that I forgot to photograph), a horse bag charm, and a twilly (random colors)

I was hoping for a more neutral colored horse, just for my own style, but I still love that it was included.

My verdict: It looks real enough. The quality is what I would expect for a $145 purchase (you may recall that I was worried about it being I don't expect too many people in my town will even recognize a Birkin, let alone be able to spot if it's real or not from a distance.

I assume that more expensive reps will have nicer leather, and maybe stitching that's a little neater, but for me this is perfect.

For those who are more knowledgeable on Birkins, how does it look to you?

This is nowhere near a perfect replica of the real bag, but good enough to carry my stuff around town.

I've only ever carried cheap $20 Amazon crossbody bags and unshockingly they fall apart after a while. I bought a new bag a couple of weeks ago that looks kinda like the black canvas Gucci crossbody bag and then stumbled across the various repbag reddits rabbit hole and eventually came across the super cheap, super fake Birkin 40 on dhgate and I've been thinking about it non-stop for two weeks so I took the plunge this morning when I got paid.

I am under no illusions that it will be leather or leather adjacent. Actually in all likelihood it'll be made of paper and sewn together with cotton candy but it's worth the gamble (I think. Maybe. If my partner asks, it cost $20)

I'll update in a few weeks when it arrives and see if it falls apart instantly, or at least lasts a few months 🤦🏻‍♂️😂
