How useful is to join a volunteers program for translation? So far the only places I know that offer a volunteer program are Ted Translators and Translators Without Borders.

Is it worth the try? I recently read that Ted Translators is a bit complicated and that it takes months to be approved and submitted 🫠

I recently graduated from college, with a translation and interpretation degree! I am happy about it but these months it's been extremely complicated to start working, more specifically as a translator. 😞

I now have a part time job as a medical interpreter, which I pretty much dislike... It's very tiring, my salary is terrible and I always wanted to be a translator, but IA and my language pair (SPA ENG) is oversaturated and I'm losing my mind.

What am I supposed to do? Just migrate towards a totally different path? It's been really hard you guys, I swear my teachers from college told me having a job would be way easier, so not true!

What do you do for a living? Is translation truly dying? What am I supposed to do? 😭 So many questions!!!!

I am a medical interpreter currently, I hate it so much because you never know what type of call you'll have to answer... It's so draining!!!

I joined this medical interpreter company because my friends did it and I thought "heck I'm good at this, I can learn and gain experience" but I swear I've been crying my soul out these days, I cannot face it anymore.

So I started to search for new job opportunities, I know how complicated it is to have a new job these days and that I should be grateful about getting a decent job (even though I should be earning more $$ because of how exhausting this field is and my professional background at college).

Do u guys think this is a good idea? Shall I try to get a job as a virtual assistant, data entry, or literally any job easier and not that mentally demanded? 🫠

Hace poco me aceptaron como Intérprete en Propio. Tengo título como intérprete y en la universidad aprendí temas muy generales de medicina, sumado a las técnicas y lo necesario para dar mis primeros pasos en este campo...

El problema es que tengo miedo de no entender, de no saber cómo resolver terminología médica que desconozco (siglas, términos muy diferentes entre cada idioma, etc). Esta semana trabajé muy poco ya que me da pavor entorpecer en vez de ayudar.

A veces siento que es un poco el síndrome de impostor porque ya sobreviví a la dureza de las clases de interpretación en la universidad, pero la realidad es que también soy nueva en esto.
