20v backpack sprayer

20v backpack sprayer

Anyone got one of these? I got one a few weeks back and find it seems to drip from the nozzle when you've turned off the trigger. Pretty consistently actually. Unlike a cheapo 5l hand held sprayer or 12l knapsack. Pressure seems a bit all over the show even with a 4ah battery whether it's on high or low setting. Maybe I just have a dud?

What's more important software/app wise - inverter or battery?

I'm reading a lot of terrible things online about duracell (not charging to schedule etc), unreliable app, misleading readings etc but then see a fair few comments of zero issues.

So my question is if you have to have bad software/app with an inverter or a battery which one would you pick?

If a battery app is poor can the inverter override it and tell it when to charge/discharge etc?

Calling all solar experts

Hi about to press the button on a solar install. 6.3kw array south facing no shading, 10kwh battery etc and a 3.68kw inverter. I'm in two minds if the inverter is undersized. Facebook groups say yes but the installer says its fine given our weather in NI and is unlikely to be maxed out. I understand about the whole g98/g99 thing it's just a case of not wanting to regret undersizing or oversizing!

Electric chainsaw peks 1600 c3 - any good?

I've been looking for a chainsaw for a little bit of firewood prep cutting up larger stuff before splitting and happened to come across this, last one on the shelf for £50. Can't see many reviews online for this specific one. Worth it or not?

Simple question about invertor sizing and demand

Everytime I think I have found the answer I then read something that contradicts it so hope someone can clarify!

Ok so say I have a 6.3kw array (14 panels) and a 3.6kw invertor with a 10kwh battery - if we turn on the oven, an airfryer and the washing machine etc and if that is drawing 5kw, then for the duration all of that is on together which of the following is what will happen:

  1. The invertor can only supply 3.6kw and therefore 1.4kw is being drawn from the grid
  2. If it is a sunny clear day (12 noon) then 3.6kw can be provided from the pv panels and the remaining 1.4w topped up by the battery (assuming it is sufficiently charged).
  3. Some other combination I haven't mentioned!

Assuming there is draw from the grid for the relatively short period this may be happening is the only way to avoid it (apart from staggering appliance use) using a larger invertor that is 5wh or greater (which will need a G99 etc)?

This is for a two adult household - approx 2800-3000kwH annual usage give or take. Had two desktop survey prices from same installer as below:

Item Option 2 (premium) Option 2 (standard)
Panels 10 x 465W Solarwatt panel vision m 5.5 black 10 x 460W JA Solar
Inverter Libbi myenergi 310sh 3.68kW inverter Solis S5 3.6kW inverter
Battery Libbi myenergi 310sh 10kWh Dyness Powerbox G2 10kWh
Diverter Eddi Eddi
Total £8,720 £7,400
Estimated annual output 4,154kWh 4,109kWh
Estimated payback time 5 years 9 months 5 years

I'm not sure how realistic the payback times are given my current monthly bill is roughly £70 - this appears to suggest the cheaper package would save me £123 a month. Export rate in NI is only around 10p/kwh from what I can see. So I can't quite see how it would be so quick? Am I missing something obvious?

Also just generally what do you think of the spec/price? I can't see any reason why option 1 would be worth the extra £1300 (products do have slightly longer warranty)? Appreciate any ones two pennies worth!

Edit - just to add it appears here the cheapest night rate is about 15 or 16p per kwh to buy. Selling you only get 10p back.

Bit of background this is in a 23 year old house - to put hot water on you select hot water at the time controller. The upstairs radiators will heat up too. If we turn them off at the TRV (for instance if we want hot water in the summer) they still heat a bit.

If we want the space heating on to heat all the radiators we have to select the hot water and central heating at the time controller. Having worked at it we've established the hot water button fires up the boiler and the central heating button activates the 1 motorised valve.

We had an electrician out to do a few bits and pieces some years back who I'd asked to install a wall thermostat as we never had one.

The hot water cylinder has a strange trv style thermostat on it rather than the typical electric one so I've no idea how accurate it is.

I've attached a few old pics (all better lagged now). The boiler is old but still working so if it's in any way economical/diy-able I'd be interested in doing it to avoid upstairs heating on a summers evening! Also I'm considering pv panels with a divertor and don't see the point in heating water via it if come the evening we want space heating and the oil boiler is still trying to heat the water!

Any advice/info appreciated even if it's to know what to ask a pro. I did ask a plumber a few years back but he seemed uninterested so wasn't sure if it was too expensive or to awkward for him to do unless I was spending big on a new boiler etc
