My second bike back in the 1980s was a Honda CB400F. I fell in love with that bike and the inline four. I went on to own a Kawasaki KZ650 and Suzuki GS650, both inline fours. I took a 20 year break and then fast forward to 2013 when I got a Ninja 1000 at age 50, also inline four. I loved that bike but got sick of bent knees and leaning over so much. So, I sold it and got this gorgeous retro bike and could not be happier with it's nice upright seating position. It brings back so many memories and is a joy to ride. I'm in love again. Glad to be in the group!

I took the path less travelled and that was a mistake.

The pig and I on an adventure no truck or jeep could tackle. Yes, that's a real fox tail.

Suggest a New Motorcycle For Me

5'11", 195 lbs, 63 years old.

Budget: $20k.

I've ridden bikes since I was 16, mostly standard street bikes, all Japanese. Since 2012 I've been riding a Ninja 1000. I like the speed, agility, handling. When I bought it I was barely 50 and it was okay comfortable. Last year I purchased a KLR650, my first adventure/dual purpose bike. I love the upright seating position of the KLR and find myself riding it most of the time. At my age, the issue with the Ninja 1000 is that it's no longer comfortable. I don't like bending my knees so tightly, leaning over, and being in the aggressive sport riding position. I know that there are things I can do to improve it (change seat, add risers, etc.). But it's an old bike and I've decided to move on. I plan to keep the KLR for trail riding and trade in the Ninja 1000 for a new bike.

My wish list would be: (1) A comfortable upright seating position similar to the KLR, (2) Japanese (obviously I prefer Kawasaki but I'd consider a Honda or Yamaha), (3) I prefer an in-line four but would settle for a good triple, I don't like the buzz of a twin (I had a Versys years ago and didn't like it), (4) a windscreen like the Ninja would be nice but I'd consider a naked bike, (5) I'm not opposed to a retro bike, (6) not interested in a cruiser and not interested in another Adv bike since I'm keeping the KLR, (7) top speed of 130 or greater with 0-60 under 4 seconds, (8) I don't really need bags but I do like the sport touring bikes, (9) I would really like cruise control on the next bike, I've never had it but I get wrist fatigue, (10) I'd like to keep it under 500 lbs since handling it around the driveway is getting tedious, (11) I think I'd like to stick with the liter size but would consider 800-900cc to 1100cc. (12) No interest in automatic, 6-speed would be ideal, (13) it would help if it was good looking.

I'm looking forward to your suggestions. So, thank you in advance. I really appreciate it and in return, I'll circle back and let you know what I decide to go with.
