Finally, it works! 🎉

After many iterations of debugging, testing, and refining, I successfully built an MR Mario experience for Meta Quest. Mario can now walk out of the game screen into the real world, interact with physical space, collect coins, and return safely back into the screen.
This project taught me a lot about Unity, mixed reality interaction, hand tracking, native library integration, physics, and persistence through difficult bugs.
Really happy to see the idea become real.

I want to try Super Mario 64 as a room-scale MR game

I’d love to try a Quest 3 mixed-reality version of Super Mario 64 where Mario can leave the game screen and enter my real room.
Mario could run across real room surfaces, jump onto physical MR platforms, and collect coins placed throughout the room in 360°. The platforms could also be grabbed, moved, and resized using hand tracking.
This would make the entire room feel like a playable Mario level.

I pulled Mario out of Super Mario 64 and into my real room with Quest 3

I built a mixed-reality Super Mario 64 experiment for Meta Quest 3 ~
The game runs on a floating virtual screen in my room use hand tracking, I can pinch Mario on the screen and pull him out into the real world as a room-scale character. He can be held, moved around, dropped, and placed back into the game screen
This is still a work in progress I am improving hand accuracy, physics, character animation, and adding extractable enemies like Goombas.
Built with Unity, Meta Quest 3 passthrough/hand tracking, and a locally owned SM64 ROM.
What feature should I add next?
